Great experience taking my elderly father to Brookeside this week. Everyone there was kind, caring, gentle and not in a rush. The dentist wore two masks for extra safety, and he was patient and professional. The person who left the bad review two years ago must not have been talking about Tami, the current receptionist. She was amazing to work with and a very cheerful person for sure. We did not have to wait at all. No problems like those mentioned in older reviews. My only tip would be to look for the location in the base level of what appears to be simply a multi level parking structure in the outer rim of the Town Center parking lot. They are the only business space in the building and hard to see at first.

Seriously a rip off. Only cleaned half my teeth and now trying charge full price! Gave them up front our insurance information. Insurance should have paid for most of the bill - just a basic yearly xray and cleaning. 3 months later we're told insurance didn't pay for it and that now we're late in paying it even though they didn't bother to send a bill or call. They want an additional $325 in addition to what we already paid them at the appointment. What REALLY pisses me off is they were late starting my appointment by over an hour, then "cleaned" my teeth by only doing half my teeth and telling me they would need to clean the rest of them at my next appointment because they were running behind. Didn't bother to charge me half the cost seeing as they only did half the work, and even that was the worst dental cleaning I've ever had. Did a tooth here, a tooth there, skipped over most of them... No idea why they thought I would ever be back after such bad service. One more thing - They waited till the 91st day to contact us about the bill so interest would start accruing. No calls, no bills, no emails. nothing. SCAM on all levels.

Brookside did a cleaning on my wife's teeth that they assured us was covered by insurance. Surprise surprise it was not, the insurance company claimed that the specific cleaning was not needed. We disputed the charge Brookside and the answer we received from the office employee was "well I'm new here and this just fell in my lap" they ended up sending us to collections for $1500. Either Brookside or a collections company sent someone to our home one evening to try and collect the money. The individual would not give me the paperwork he claimed to have for us and the threatened me saying "I can make things really hard on you" he was not so kindly escorted off my property. They then sent a sheriff to serve us papers 2 days before Christmas (we will see you in court Brookside). My advice, do not go to this dental office, there are plenty others on Sunnyside Rd.

After reading horrible reviews about Kaiser dental offices I chose Brookside dental because they were willing to bill my Kaiser dental plan, which most other offices won't in the Clackamas area. Dr. Shao is very kind and has gone out of his way to take care of two very tiny cavities I had, making sure he got to them before he had to give me an oral anesthetic injection (which I hate). The hygienists I've seen have been very nice, all with the exception of an older one. I have very bad TMJ and it seemed she couldn't care less that having my mouth open wide put me in extreme pain. But all of the younger hygienists I've seen are very nice and understanding about my TMJ issues. However, the front desk staff needs to brush up on their customer service skills. I had to cancel an appointment 24 hours in advance and re-schedule, and when I did I certainly got an earful. I understand the need for cancelation policies and I know it can be challenging to fill a spot on such little notice, but when you work on call sometimes you don't get more than a few hours notice! Explaining this to the front desk did not gain any sympathy and they said they would only waive the cancellation fee once. Fine. Then when I wanted to schedule an appointment on a Friday I was informed "Fridays are only for VIP's" and I really should schedule a different day. Friday's are my only day off an as a courtesy to my boss I try not to make personal appointments on work days. Again explaining this to the front desk staff got an eye roll and a sigh along with, "well I guess we can schedule a Friday". If it weren't for the fact that literally no other dental office will bill my insurance I would have left due to the fact that it seemed I was more of a nuisance than a valued patient.

So happy that I can say that my family and friends go here! A few of us have a little bit of PTSD strictly from having dealt with other dentist in the past who we ended up having horriffic experiences with. Thank God we found Brookside Dental of and we're reminded that not all people are bad. They were quick, polite, helpful and honestly we all had a really good time going which is crazy to say because it was at a dentist office! They really know how to make their patients see more like extended friends or family. We've all met with both of the doctors at this point and Dr. Kowal and Dr. Shao are both phenomenal.
