Staff was great but cleaners not. I don't know what this is but ended up in the hall way cause I couldn't sleep with it in my room. Supposed to discount me and didn't so that's on management. But staff was super helpful. Breakfast was eh

Did not find the rooms to be worth $169 a night. They did a good job on the breakfast. Rooms are clean but $169 clean ? No ! The computer chair was ripped and looked horrible, the door on the cabinet hiding the fridge was sprung, I should have taken a picture. If you are charging $169 for your room they need to be in better shape.

The service was outstanding that made the whole experience positive. Pool and spa broken, rooms older, bathroom could use some care, but again. Staff was excellent.

It's one of the smaller BW's we've stayed in. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Little bit of an odd smell when you first walk in, but it went away when we ran the air. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Not much to do within walking distance, but the desk person did recommend an excellent restaurant we could walk to.

Worst experience with hotel staff I’ve ever had. Ed, who was in charge late at night on a Saturday night has got to have the worst customer service. At 12:30 at night, I had forgotten my wallet at my sisters house that had my room key in it as well as my ID. I told Ed that I definitely understood the situation and apologized for not having my things with me. I am staying here with my service animal and when I went down to ask about getting another key Ed immediately said “well where’s your service animal they’re supposed to be with you at all times” when I kindly explained to him that my dog was upstairs in my dads friends room who was also staying at the hotel and then proceeds to aggressively tell me that according to ADA she’s got to be with me at all times. He then was going extremely combative when asking my questions to verify my information and made me feel like an idiot for no reason. Ed couldn’t have been less helpful and quite frankly pissed me off and ruined my experience at this hotel. I will be calling the front desk manager to file a complaint and let them know. I will not just let this go without further action.

I wish they were a little bit more relaxed on their dog policy and not charge me $30 for a dog but they had the nicest room they had the nicest workers they had a hot tub spa they have a workout facility and they had one of the best breakfasts I've had at a hotel in a while I will be going back thank you Best WesternRooms: We got a king size downstairs room they had mini fridge and a great microwave Beautiful shower the beds were soft the pillows were perfect and they were on top of keeping stuff cleanSafety: The safety was impeccable there's always somebody at watch it's a quaint little small town and they lock the front doors at a certain time you have to have your key to get inWalkability: You are about a block away from five stores and a couple of restaurants it's in a good location

On 7/22 I needed to book a room the night of 8/11 in The Dalles, OR. I worried I might have trouble finding a room. I searched "Best Western The Dalles Oregon". Up popped the availability so I grabbed it and got my confirmation! The evening of 8/10 I searched for a directions map to the hotel. Only then I discovered that the room was not booked in The Dalles, OR but in Dallas, OR across the state! I immediately called the desk clerk at 7:30PM at the hotel to explain my error and to cancel my reservation for the next night. I was told that because I was not cancelling within 24 hrs of the check-in time (19.5 hrs actually) there was nothing they could do! What??? I argued that knowing my room was cancelled, that they would sell the room anyway and thus keep my $194 and charge another guest for the room in addition! Further arguing the case with her, explaining that Google directs to THIS hotel when "The Dalles" was searched, and that only a SINGLE vowel was my only signal that I might have erred. Could they please show some compassion and simply refund me. NO WAY! I contacted BW Customer Service, they said it was the decision of local management and they could not help! It would have cost them NOTHING to refund me but the money-grab seem all that was on their mind! I'm disgusted with BW and out $194, despite expending my preference for BW and making my best efforts to book with them and resolve the situation.

I called today to ask if they allow pets. She said they have 7 rooms for pets. I asked if one of those rooms was available and she sarcastically responded "we have more then 7 rooms". Ok, I didn't respond to that. She followed up with there are only 7 rooms for pets (I'm confused at this point). Told her my pet was 6# and again asked if there might be a room available. All of a sudden she attacked me out of the blue for having an attitude? An attitude? For what? When I said I didn't like being accused of something I wasn't doing she said my attitude sucked and I wasn't allowed to stay there. Say what? I don't like being unfairly attacked. I hadn't even had a chance to get an attitude. Hubby thinks it was because I had to talk over broken muffler but even then, wow. My throat is rough from 2 kinds of steroids for my lungs and I'm in massive pain from a bulging disc pinching 2 nerves. Lady, I'm sick, and all I wanted to know was if you allowed pets and availability. So I called the main number and complained.Shame on her. I don't care if whoever she talked to before me was a j**** how dare she dump her attitude on me and then switch it around by accusing me of having an attitude?

Great location and basically the only hotel in town, but definitely needs updating. Cleanliness of room was OK, but bathroom door's veneer is peeling off, no USB ports. Lamp base had an electrical outlet that was broken and electrical wires exposed. When we made our reservations, we asked for a room on the first floor because we were bringing our bicycles. She replied "no problem", but when we arrived, they had to manipulate rooms to get us one on the first floor. It was a good thing because this property has "NO" elevator.Hallway rugs need cleaning, tiled area at entrance needs mopping where people carrying drinks have spilled. We asked housekeeping to check bodywash; had to ask again before it was refilled. Policy explained by front desk staff is to clean room every 3 days and if you do not put "do not disturb" sign, they're supposed to change towels and empty trash. Two days we had to ask for clean towels and no trash collection.Breakfast is very basic, no variety -- small biscuits with gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage. Fruit no bananas, only apples and oranges; one day only apples. Sign displayed "we are a small facility, only one plate per person". Desk staff was hardly ever at desk for inquiries.Even though this facility was convenient to where we were visiting, felt it was overpriced for what we were getting. Will stay in Salem next time with a hotel with better amenities.Hilton needs to put in a Hampton Inn to give this property some competition.

This was the closest location to an event we were attending.I wish I had looked at reviews before booking. Owners seem to be doing a lot of apologising.Check in was okay, but no warm fuzzy. It is advertised as 100 % non- smoking, but our room smelled strongly of smoke. We returned from our event at 9:30 and our friends key wouldn’t work. Front desk was a bit snarky indicating it was her fault for doing it wrong. The battery needed to be changed in the door, but there were no tools to do it. The owner/manager was called, and would be there in twenty minutes. They were instructed to wait in the hall. After 20 minutes they said it would be an hour. We asked for another room , but no, we have none in your price range. They were eventually given the upgraded room, but still no luggage. When the owner/manager did finally get there, he changed the battery and told them they would have to get out of bed and go back to the original room. This was at 11:30-11:45.There was much arguing back and forth. Our friends were threatened with a police removal. This morning they were called and told to remove their things or the police would. We went to the hotel to talk to them, but they had a terrible attitude. Nothing was their fault, and blamed the guests for all of it.This is actually a condensed version.Bottom line is, keep on driving.Anything would be better than this place to stay.

For the price we paid I was hoping for more. It wasn’t a holiday weekend—it was a regular weekend but we still paid more that $200/night with a discount. For a little more money we could have found something much less offensive. The entire first floor smells damp like mildew, including our room. Somehow we ended up in a pet-friendly room but we had no pets. The bed was terrible. Back was killing me after one night, and I don’t usually have any back issues. The breakfast was good…except for the hostess swapping vomit stories with patrons while I ate. If I was really desperate I might consider booking again, but it would be a last resort. The young gentleman at the front desk was friendly and pleasant.
