Arterberry Maresh at the Maresh Red Barn is a winery in the Dundee Hills, housed in a big red barn at the top of the hill with a floor from a local high school basketball gym. It features wines from the fifth oldest vineyard in the state. The tasting room offers Maresh Vineyard Pinot noirs, highly rated Arterberry Maresh Pinot noirs and Chardonnays, and other selections. Visitors describe it as a hidden gem of Oregon, with phenomenal offerings, old vines, and good, delicious, balanced wines. Specific highlights include the Chardonnay Cuvée Tan Fruit for its tremendous value and the Maresh Vineyard Pinot Noir for its perfect balance and aging potential. The experience is super chill, charming, genuine, and without pretentiousness, often feeling like visiting with family. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, generous, excited, accommodating, and pleasant company. The location is beautiful and cute, with a comfy patio overlooking the vineyard and rich history. It is recommended for those who respect wine, not for those seeking a quick party. The winery is open for reservations only with 48 hours notice and has specific seasonal opening weekends. Overall, it provides a fantastic, outstanding, and exceptional tasting experience that comes highly recommended.
This feels like a “passion project” in the best possible way. The friendly, casual atmosphere combined with the incredible wine (and knowledge/enthusiasm) is exactly what I love about wine-tasting in Oregon. Halfway through the tasting I was ready to join their wine club.
