Cole Stewart repeatedly encouraged me to allow him to create a payment plan for my federal tax bill, assuring me that there would be no interest or penalties applied to my tax bill. I agreed with his advice and just got a terrible letter from the IRS telling me about the penalties, interest I will be paying, due to requesting the payment plan advocated by the h&r block tax preparer. Avoid this horrible place! You'd be better off doing your taxes yourself rather than getting awful advice for close to $300 charge

I entrusted H&R Block to handle my 2023 taxes, and it turned into a nightmare. During a virtual appointment with my assigned tax preparer, Miko, I provided all my information, including entering my banking details in their online form. I assumed this would transfer automatically to my tax forms—unfortunately, I was wrong. Miko entered someone else’s banking information on my return, resulting in over $6,000 in refunds being sent to the wrong account.
While Miko initially sent letters to the IRS and assured me I’d get the refund, she left the company shortly after and handed my account over to Morgan. That’s where the communication breakdown began. I called H&R Block repeatedly to speak with Morgan, only to be told he was unavailable. I left messages on his personal number and in the app, but aside from one response in May confirming they were “looking into it,” I never heard back. I already called 800 472 5625 and have spoken to multiple representatives; there’s nothing to be done.
H&R Block’s customer service was no better. Every representative promised a follow-up that never came. Meanwhile, I spent hours on the phone with the IRS, hearing conflicting information ranging from “you’ll get your return eventually” to “we may not be able to recover your money.” I still haven’t received my federal refund, and at this point, I don’t think I will.
This ordeal has had a devastating impact on my family. We needed that refund to cover expenses and ended up going into debt. While H&R Block refunded the cost of the tax preparation, it hardly compensates for the financial and emotional toll of their mistake.
If H&R Block had been upfront about the limits of what they could do after sending those letters, I might have prepared differently. Instead, I was left to chase answers and face the possibility that I may never get my refund.
I will not be using H&R Block again and strongly caution others to think twice before entrusting them with something as important as their taxes.

Could not understand the person preparing my taxes I figured out after leaving if I waited and took care of a divorce then filed I could have got a bigger return only to find this out after my taxes are submitted.

Too annoying in the lead up to the appointment so I ended up cancelling: Constantly sending me texts and emails asking me to confirm my appointment, threatening my spot if I didn't! Maybe when people make an appointment with you, don't repeatedly ask them if they are sure?! And, if people are failing to show up, charge a nonrefundable booking fee if they don't cancel with at least 24 hours notice. Have some common sense when it comes to good service, please!

Way over priced for something most people can do online with Turbo Tax. I paid over $300 for my taxes to be filed correctly and have received a letter from the IRS stating that it was not filed correctly at all. They have also not communicated back about the mess.Not worth the money AT ALL. I wish I would’ve went elsewhere.
