Misdiagnosed twice here, long long wait times

When OMG changed hands the level of care, ability to get appointments drastically declined. I tried to make an urgent appointment for my father today, it’s three months away. How on earth is this an urgent appointment?
Previous to this my father has had major changes to his health, we’ve been desperately trying to find answers as to why. We were literally told over and over again he was fine. When it was so blatantly obvious he was not. We finally saw a Dr (not his primary care Dr) who put in a referral for a gastrointestinal Dr after a year of appointments with OMG. He has stomach cancer and esophageal cancer. We finally have a diagnosis. Now We’ve been trying to get referrals for specialists, get a PET Scan, see an oncologist, changes to his meds for his feeding tube and so much more. It literally takes weeks of calling to get answers or a reply to his MyChart. I know our healthcare system is broken. But OMG has only made it worse. I would never recommend this doctors office. And if your currently a patient they. Get out now. Because when you truly need them, they won’t help you, unless you finally throw a big enough fit, that they cave and send you to the specialist you’ve been asking them to send you to for a year.

I was a patient for 15 years and the wait time to get an appointment and lack of providers made me leave.

Five stars for the care I received during my time with OMG, most specifically with my primary care provider Maureen Paulus. Two stars for the communication I received regarding her departure and that I would have to leave the group to find a new provider. I spoke with two different doctors, various schedulers, two different medical assistants and asked who I would be transferred to when I was finally told weeks later by an assistant that I was essentially being kicked out, they didn’t have enough providers to take on her patients. While I was understanding about this it was unacceptable that I had talked to so many people and it took almost a month for me to find out I needed to seek care outside of OMG. They said they would only be able to prescribe for me for another month and precious time was wasted that I could have been looking for a new provider. I still haven’t received any letters or any other kind of communication about my doctors leaving (Maureen Paulus and Dr. Ford) and I find this very unprofessional. Especially when someone is the middle of treatment. I asked the assistant to inform the manger that this happened, she apologized and said staff should have told me that right away. Again, I understand they are short but communication could have been way better. Hopefully a manager will read this and they can work on making this better for other patients.

Dr . Birang is probably not as bad as she came across in my experience, but I found her dismissive and hurried and disinterested in answering questions. I have two specific health challenges that she waved off, “it’s fine.” Not good doctoring.

I have been trying to help my adult son navigate the health care system to get appropriate care & support for depression, anxiety & ADHD.I have never experienced such a disorganized uncaring practice. He has been without needed meds for about 5 days because of the inability of OMG to read or respond to repeated requests & inquiries. This is not the first time that this has happened. I’ve been a nurse for a long time & our healthcare system is supposed to support those suffering from physical or emotional illness. It’s seems that OMG is unable or unwilling to do that.

It’s extremely challenging to get through to anyone on the phone here. I’ve waited on hold for ridiculously long times. One time I waited for 15 minutes, was disconnected and had to start all over again. My primary doctor retired, they randomly reassigned me, then that doctor mysteriously left and they have yet to randomly reassign me again… I don’t really know what’s going on with this organization.

UPDATE*The office manager, Nancy, reached out to me directly to discuss the issue. Long story short, she explained thoroughly and convincingly all of the relevant policies and procedures regarding booking, prescriptions, insurance, etc. While I still wasn't happy about being surprised with a $185 bill, I was satisfied that there had been no malfeasance or errors – it was an unfortunate set of events that left me with a bill I could have avoided, but no one is to blame. Later on, they reached out again and offered to help by adjusting my bill downward a bit, which actually helped a decent amount.Went to my pharmacy to renew my routine prescription for asthma medication I’ve been using for 30 years. Couple days later, get a call from Dr Wilkins’ office saying he won’t fill my prescription until I see him again, because it’s been more than a year. Highly irregular …. I’ve routinely gone more than a year between visits and never had a doctor refuse to prescribe. So they essentially hold me hostage to fill my prescription. Then I get billed for the visit. I thought annual physicals were covered by my insurance – in fact it’s a law that they have to. So I call the billing office to inquire, and they say my visit was coded for insurance as an “office visit” to discuss medication, rather than an annual checkup, which insurance doesn’t cover. This is despite being told over the phone, when they called me to force an appointment, that I needed to come in for my annual. So they put it under review, tell me not to worry, but that it may take a couple months to complete review. I feel relieved. Then last week I got the bill again. I call, asking what’s going on, and they say the review has been rejected. I was never notified it had been rejected! So I talk to someone higher up (Beverley), who is sympathetic, but all she can say is, sorry, for insurance purposes we simply can’t bill you for an “annual”, it has to be billed as an “office visit” (which is not covered by insurance).Okay so, you guys refused to refill my routine 30 year-old prescription unless I came in. Suggested over the phone that it was my annual checkup. Then bill it in such a way that insurance won’t cover it, then refused to take any accountability for your mistake and miscommunication, simply saying “sorry tough break.” This is malpractice, and I want some damn accountability.

If I could give a zero i would. I have been in acute pain for 5 weeks. The ER doctor's that have now seen me 4x believe I need a hysterectomy, my doctor who has seenme 4x, my former gynecologist, AND one of their own dotors who was on call at the ER. I have multiple fibroids, one that is 4.8cm, multiple cervical cysts, and thickening of the endometrium which is considered precancer. I have a family history of all of this AND severe endometriosis in all but 1 family member. All had hysterectomies due to severe pain and it helped every one of them. I have a serious family history of cancer as well. They dismissed it as pelvic floor Neuropathy, ignoring the fibroids, cysts, thickening of the endometrium, and family history and despite a Negative nerve conduction test. Dr Groggman said well those can be inaccurate. Said endometriosis doesn't cause pain, AND said it was my hormone replacement therapy that caused the thickening despite tests showing it long before being on HRT. Not only that, HRT does not cause thickening as even the medical research sites state. Anything but her being wrong. She was angry that my son and I confronted her on her BS and she refused to address thes issues and made a note that i couldn't get a send opinion there because of it so after htheur doctor disagreed and said i should have a hysterectomy and said to schedule there with a different doctor, they called 10 minutes before me needing to leave to say that wouldn't see me based on Dr. Groggmans report in part which was lies and my son even confirmed everything she'd said to my own doctors medical assistant. I am now filing a medical board complaint against Dr Groggman, doctor Gill, and the facility itself for gross negligence and mistreatment. If you need a good doctor look anywhere else but here!!!!

The disorganization is really starting to get to me. I randomly stopped receiving text notifications/early check-in for my 2 years old’s appointments, which ended up ok because I keep everything in my calendar. Until when, in November, they had no record of one of his appointments that I DID have a record of (had written appointment card from the nurse and all). Had to reschedule and they had no appointments for three full weeks. Now, my son’s final Covid Booster appointment was canceled due to no stock of the vaccine, which I understand. What I do NOT understand is why I was told over the phone to await a follow-up phone call within a couple of days to reschedule his appointment. A week later, no call from them so I called in myself and waited the minimum 20 minute hold time to speak with scheduling. I was told then that they are referring patients to their pharmacies for these appointments now. Good to know! So now my son is late on his Covid Booster, and had I not been on top of it they surely would have let him fall through the cracks. Get it together.

This place is an absolute disaster. Stay far away from it if you want any type of care at all. These people should be ashamed of themselves.

They cancelled an ultrasound while we arrived in their lobby. My wife is 12 weeks pregnant and they said, we understand you are eager to make sure your baby is okay, but we have to cancel cause of a scheduling error. They could not have checked before we arrived literally in the lobby to tell us?It's obvious this place does not care about people, so I don't know why they are in this profession. Honestly you could not have found the schedule conflict before we had already arrived?Health care in America is already dismal, and it's obvious they don't care about their patients.I'll schedule another appointment and this time ask them if they are scheduling me a conflicting appointment. Utter insanity they wait until we are there. I wish I could give less than one star.
