The worst mechanics in all of Eugene. Took my wife’s car in to have a new alternator put in and they put it in crooked and stripped one of the screws holding in causing the belt to slip and ruined the engine. Had to buy another engine cost me $4200. Do not take your car here. The tow truck driver said that he has had many complaints about Prairie Rd Automative when he had to get me on the side of the belt line. Tow truck driver said he’s seen this before from them. Karma will catch up with these crooks.Service: General repairs & maintenance

It was my 1st time needing a mechanic in Eugen, and I'm truly happy that I went to Prairie Rd Auto. The staff was great, really professional, and talked to me like they were about to work on a friends car. After the initial inspection and the solution they came to, they called me and talked to me about the work and everything before actually doing it. After agreeing, they got it done and were able to get my car ready earlier in the day than anticipated. All around, great experience. ??

When it comes to saving you money, they make it really hard to even try to help find less expensive alternatives. I had to pay a fee just to get my car back, and ended up doing the work myself. It wasn't even what their technician originally stated on his sheet. They need to be more honest. It's all about the money for them. Not helping the customer ? indefinitely don't recommend them.

Diagnosed a camshaft position synchronizer problem that had been missed by two other mechanics. Repaired it and the vehicle is running well.Services: Auto engine diagnostic

I had a 2005 Altima and they didn't want to touch it because I had to have a new replacement of the EPA (Catylitic Converter) and my car has 2. It kept dying. They are just "parts changers" and they told me to go elsewhere. That was 2019. I went to Jerrry and Walt's It's not cheap anywhere but the latter took the time and asked me if I wanted to keep the car. I said, "yes" and the work was done.

Prairie Road Automotive has serviced my car since 2016. A year later my husband decided to have his car serviced there, also, mainly because of my positive comments. We have always been satisfied with their friendly, professional service. We like the Courtesy Inspection chart that indicates what services were checked with an explanation of either:a) okay; b) requires attention soon; c) requires immediate attention; and d) not applicable, which gives you a basic idea of the condition of your car and awareness of what requires attention in the future. We like that when we make an appointment for an oil change and other concerns that need to be attended to, we are made aware (over the phone) the approximate cost for services. This information helps to know what to expect. They answer our questions, and give advice when asked, and perform the work that's needed to keep our automobiles running well.I am sorry to say that several of the excellent mechanics and staff who were there when we first began patronizing Prairie Road Automotive have moved on. The only personnel we are familiar with now is Donovan and Lucas, who have always been friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. We are impressed with Bobby, a fairly new employee who works at the front desk. He's friendly, likeable, intelligent, and is an asset to the team.I have to mention that we have noticed the rising rates, but we have not researched the rates of other garages for comparison. It may be rising costs (like everything else) are overall. We will continue to patronize Prairie Road Automotive as we trust them, and feel they are honest. We feel fortunate that we have had no negatives experiences, and would highly give our recommendation to others who are looking for a garage with skilled mechanics.Thank you Prairie Road Automotive.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement

Good morning all. Just giving a shout out to Prairie Road automotive. I took my 2011 GMC sierra in to get new spark plugs and wires installed. First time ever using this automotive shop. The service representative Donovan. You cannot ask for better customer service. They got my vehicle in at the appointment that I set and in no time at all my vehicle was ready. For me, the truck is new, but have had it for a year now.they made sure everything and detailed everything that they looked at to make sure everything Was up to par. So now I have a new place to take my vehicles when I need something done. Trust is a big word. I feel very comfortable taking my vehicles to Prairie Road automotive. Thank you to everyone at Prairie Road automotive. See you all soon. Patrick M.Services: General repairs & maintenance

I communicated that I was looking for a good auto repair place for 2004 honda after my old mechanic retired. However, the response wasn't satisfactory to me. nice people but the repair took too long, it seemed my auto kept being pushed down the list. The estimate was very high, and I wonder about their judgment of what was needed now, and what i should think about for the future. I'll try someplace else next time.

I have nothing but great things to say about this company. They went out of their way (I worked mostly with Lucas but also chatted with Donovan) to help my mom out who was about to purchase a new to her motorhome. We wanted to make sure it was going to be safe for her. I felt he was very honest in letting us know what should be done asap/vs what can wait a little to help break up the costs. He didn’t try to push us to do it all.Overall very impressed with their communication, follow through and ethics! Would absolutely go back.Services: Auto engine diagnostic

I was hesitant to write a review due to Lucas, the owner, providing great customer service, but this last issue was the straw that broke the camel's back...We were referred to prairie road automotive from a very highly regarded mechanic whom we trust, but was phasing out customers, but it seems the quality has declined. In July we took my vehicle for a 360 point inspection to make sure that it was well suited to drive over 3,000 miles from OR to NC. It came back that the car needed new spark plugs and new shocks and struts in the front and back.Short Version:Battery was dead upon pickup, improperly attached scratch guard/did not identify attachment point issue during inspection, did not tighten lugnuts on tires all the way, did not tighten upper mounts to struts. Lucas was great to work with and paid for new scratch guard and gave full refund. However, I would still NOT RECOMMEND. Sloppy work that can result in major safety concerns.Long Version:When we went to pick up the vehicle the the battery was completely dead (minor issue). Fast forward to somewhere in the midwest and the car starts making a noise that sounds like plastic flapping in the wind. Turns out the scratch guard was not put on properly and half of it was hanging off. (Full disclosure: It turned out there was an issue with scratch guard, but I would've have expected that this would have come up in the inspection). We reached out to Prairie Road and the owner Lucas, said he would pay for the replacement of the scratch guard, which we were very grateful for.The end of the next day, probably about 1,500-2,000 miles into the trip my car starts making this really bad knocking noise. Around the same time this popping noise started when I would sometimes turn the wheel all the way to the left (more on that later). We scoured the internet saw the knocking noise could be a bad CV axel or loose lug nuts...turned out when they did maintenance they forgot to tighten my lugnuts all the way. The front left tire was loose enough that we could tighten them with our hands, but all the lugnuts were slightly loose. Again we reached out to Lucas, and he graciously agreed to a full refund.Fast forward to our final arrival to NC. My car was consistently making a popping noise when I would turn the wheel all the way to the left. I went to three mechanics and paid for diagnostics to figure out what was the cause of the popping noise. Turned out the upper mounts to my struts were loose enough that they wiggled a bit. After they tightened these the popping noise went away.Needless to say this place pushes cars through so fast that they're neglectful and sloppy. Tightening lugnuts and upper mounts should be a standard procedure. The lugnuts could've been a MAJOR safety issue.Services: Vehicle safety inspection

The people are nice but they won't even give you a quote for a repair unless you pay them their inspection fee. Look I know what is wrong why can't you just quote the repair?Service: Air conditioning
