This was my go to grocery store for 15 years.The last few purchases from the bakery and deli I’ve had to throw out, due to freshness and quality issues. Disappointed

I have rarely gone to the Safeway on 40th and Donald in Eugene but I was visiting relatives in the area and went 3 different times this week..Mr Buffo in that store made an it an exceptional experience. Put rubber band on our eggs, showed my mom how to tap her credit card, gave tips like don't use the handles on the bags all while having an engaging conversation. Several customers talked to him also while we checked out that I could tell he made the same impression on Never have I had such wonderful service at a grocery store.

Safeway is a good market. Not great as there are a number of things I will not get from them because of the quality of the items compared to other options. But today, after being stuck in the house because of an ice storm, for 5 days, I was happy to be able to replenish my pantry. I normally would rate Safeway as a 3, kinda meets my expectations. Today they were open and had a decent selection available and were busy stocking shelves.

inconsistency leads to failure, and when the public depends on that inconsistency, that's when the store is no longer successful. either stick to the policy and it's standards, thoroughly, or not at all.edit after they replied: Some employees are driven mad, with the little power they have and their condescending attitudes do not help. Third party orders (either through Shipt, Instacart, Doordash, Postmates, Spark+, etc. etc.) are HELPING YOU fulfill YOUR ORDERS that YOU CANNOT fulfill. These third party shoppers are HELPING YOU and they are sort of employees, through the freelance agreements, and the fact that your other employees are rude about it, is not okay. When the freelancer can't fulfill these orders, not only does Safeway LOSE OUT on the sale, so does the freelancer. Not doing your job correctly leads to dismay for others and their job.

The customer service is lacking. They up charge everything. Smiles? Forget it you won’t receive that here probably because employees are unhappy.They charge extra now for a ribbon on their expensive flowers that are wilting. Done shopping at Safeway and Albertsons.

Always clean and well stocked. Being a club member is the only way to go! Shop with your phone to add digital coupons for items you're already buying! Lots of self check out availabilities.

I strongly recommend you do NOT use this store to pick up and go for Groceries. After they stopped giving written receipts they decided to email receipts without telling me. Finally figured out how to access receipt after picking up groceries today ordered yesterday and what I found today was close to all out larceny. The items I ordered yesterday and paid for were billed at a higher price today. For instance a roast bought and paid for at $37 was now $57. One apple was $3.27. Ice cream bought for $3 was now $5.99. All savings I carefully shopped for, over $100 worth, was whittled down to $37. Now qit's impossible to figure out how much I've been cheated out of over the last few months. Because the receipt was so messed up today I gave the $235 order back to them, furious and in tears because I now had no food and a bedridden husband recovering from serious back surgery. They offered a $50 gift card which I refused because the amount of overcharged items was at least $80 and $10 and $5 coupons (used rewards) were removed. I do not trust this store now. I've been shopping at Safeway for 35+ years and will never go back. Heed this warning. It's illegal bait and switch.

would not suggest stopping by the deli. After waiting for service for 30 minutes and talking to multiple employees we had to leave and go to Albertsons for what we were looking for.

I've had poor experiences with the produce I've purchased there. But, their store brand products are high quality and backed with a satisfaction guarantee. They have a seafood counter, butcher, Sushi/hot food section, deli, Starbucks, etc.
