Love checking in with co-op art galleries when I travel. This one has 26+ artist's work.
Please support artists of all levels and mediums.

Nice gallery of local artists’ creations. I thought the prices were reasonable but I’m certainly not an expert on prices for artwork. The man who greets and manages the store is not that personable and didn’t ask if we needed help or have any questions about the artwork. Other than that, it was a nice gallery and would go back again.

Dear Kathryn,It has taken me awhile to process this whole ordeal with Backstreet Gallery. At first, I was just going to let it go, but the experience has caused me so much anxiety and grief that I feel I should make your group aware of the damage it has caused me so as to not put anyone else through the same.I spoke to my friend and neighbor that accompanied me to the shop the day I was accused of being "extremely loud and rude" by two of your vendors. She was flabbergasted and said that in no way did I act that way. I did a great deal of self-reflection after my interview and could not come up with any reasonable explanation for their bad impression either. I remember being very happy, excited, and eager to have the other members like me and would have been on my best behavior. I know it was probably the same members that voted me out.Regardless, the rejection of my self and my art has left me feeling defeated and a bit depressed. I will no longer be creating my art as the rejection has caused me to lose confidence in both it and myself. Your group has a lot of power and it is my hope that you all try to understand the harm that your decision making process can do to a person. I felt that the ladies I met at my interview were lovely and I looked so forward to working with them and developing new friendships. It is too bad that "the two" were able to weld their prejudices in such a hurtful way. I sincerely wish I had never applied. I pray your group considers my words so no one else has to go through this. I am not angry, only very sad.Sincerely,Lynn TavernaSent from my iPad

We enjoyed our visit to this gallery. It is a co-op gallery and represents a wide variety of artists and objects of art. The artist at the front desk was very friendly and easily engaged in conversation. It's a bit high priced, as most galleries can be, but a wide selection of splendid items is available.

This gallery is the home of a now outed racist. No minority artists on display, with some artists copying Native American items. It is not hard to let Natives display their art.

This is the 2nd time I have been here in 5 years, last time they were setting up for a show the older guy looked at us like we could never afford anything therefore ignored us. This time no greeting when we walked in, same older guy he started a conversation with a local about how he teaches once a month and she should consider taking a class. Next person walks in no greeting for them either. Unfriendly store never asked us if we needed help or volunteered anything about the artists. I will bypass this gallery next time I am in Florence. To the guy that is always there, just because I am wearing a beach coat without a fancy label doesn't mean I can't afford something in your shop!

This nice gallery is on Bay street in Old Town, It has a great selection of items to choose from, but like most galleries they can be a little pricy. I have been there several times to try to find some Christmas gifts and when I spotted some really fun pictures of animals and say the price I thought they looked like sublimation but for that process they would be very over priced. So I asked the sales lady what process was used to make them, she wasn't sure so I asked if they were sublimated, but she had no idea what I was talking about. Kind of odd that someone in a gallery doesn't understand the process that their items are made in. I left without the cute pictures.

I love this gallery! Truly beautiful artwork of all different types and using various mediums. I had the honor and pleasure of purchasing a stunning watercolor painting from the artist herself while there. The artists who are a part of the co-op gallery not only sell their work there but also run/work at the gallery.
