Store over crowded and the counter clerk is rude. They do not carry every breed and are over priced.

RAINING CATS & DOGS has been sold to a local Florence family. I would like to thank each one of you who have supported me for the past twelve years at Raining Cats & Dogs. Some of you were even supporting me when I had 101 Pet Supply in the years before I took over Raining. It has been a long run for all of us and I have enjoyed it. We have all watched two of my great grand kids grow up in Raining and I have watched as your new puppies arrived and then left us way too early. Each one of them left a little mark on my heart. I will miss this. I am now looking forward to being home digging in the dirt with little people or whatever we can think of to keep busy. I don't know that retirement means I will slow down but it surely means I will finally have a clean house and neat yard. Thank you all so much. My last day at Raining will be October 31st (how's that for trick or treat). I would love to have you come to Raining and say goodbye before I'm out the door for the last time. The new owners will take over November 1st but I understand they will be closed for a while to do some renovations. I am sure they look forward to getting to know you when they reopen. Jackie

I make a point to shop and purchase locally when visiting small towns like Florence. I so wanted to be able to rave about this store, but every time we have gone in, the incredibly cranky, Unfriendly lady completely ruins it for us. She acts like every customer is an irritation, and she begrudgingly helped us to try on harnesses for our dog. She clearly didn't want to be bothered, and said "nothing will fit" and we had to goad her into trying a couple on our dog.

I have gone to Raining Cats & Dogs many times and the service there is always great. The items are wonderful and there is always a great variety. No breed is ever left out. I cannot wait to shopping there again.

I have always had a pleasant experience shopping in this store. I don't have little kids, but I would say this is probably not the best place to bring them since there are, indeed, many somewhat fragile (and tempting) items on display. I recently purchased an adorable cat lamp here, and in the past have also purchased a Kit Kat clock which continues to keep time efficiently and always elicits a lot of compliments. This is the only place in town and perhaps the only place on a large stretch of the Oregon coast where you can buy unique gifts for owners of cats and dogs, or for those cats and dogs themselves.

The store itself is very cute, however we didn’t see much of it before leaving. Apparently there is a rule against photos being taken in the store. There are small, easy to overlook signs on the door to this effect, but those are the only signs we saw, and only when we were actively looking for them. My daughter saw a pair of socks she thought her sister (who lives out of state) would like, and not realizing there was a rule against in-store photography, she took a picture of them. It was an honest mistake, none of us noticed the warnings against in-store photos, and she’s not the kind of girl to blatantly disregard rules. The woman behind the counter (older, short grey hair), in the snottiest tone of voice you can imagine, says “you realize there are signs everywhere telling you not to take pictures in the store.” My daughter felt terrible, she immediately put her phone away and tried to apologize, but the very rude worker shot her a withering look of disdain and walked off. I realize these are trying times. I know teenagers in general can be a pain in the butt. I know we broke a rule. All of that said, there was absolutely no excuse for this woman’s behavior towards a young girl who made an honest mistake. She could have politely pointed out the photography rule; instead she chose to be rude from the start. As a family of animal lovers, with a huge extended family of animal lovers, she could have made a killing off of us, but she clearly didn’t want our business so we left.I would stay far away from this store, which has cute stuff but is quite overpriced. If you choose to go, remember the golden rule: don’t take pictures of the merchandise.

We went to the store with our two dogs as we were looking for a halter for one of our dogs while visiting Florence. The owner was very helpful with finding the right halter for our dog and offered many choices and styles. The dogs liked their treats as well. Since we have many pet friends, I will think of this place for gifts too.

Like others on this site, I found the woman working here very rude. I come to Florence occasionally with my husband and dog. Today I entered the store with my well-behaved border collie tightly leashed to me as possible. Instead of being met with a greeting, I was told by the store clerk that if I was going to bring my dog in the store I needed to have him right next to me. I said my dog was as close to me as possible and couldn't get any closer. I walked down one isle and when I came around the corner she again confronted me by saying that people let their pets loose on on the leash. This was very similar to a visit I had two months earlier. At that point I told her I was leaving and never coming back, and that I found her behavior extremely rude. This is a pet store, not a china shop. If you don't want pets in the store, put a sign out. But to enter a store without a "Hello, how are you? What can I help you with? and instead be greeted with a grumpy warning about my well-behaved dog, I say no thank you. I'll never walk in again.

The store is more than a pet supply. It stocks unique gifts focusing on furry faced children. We bought a dachshund weather vane for our home at a reasonable price.

The owner of the store barked at my mother and me (no pun intended) as I took a photo of a pair of socks to ask my husband if he would like them. I completely understand wanting to limit photography but the shop owner's tone and volume was incredibly out of proportion. I put my phone away and walked out. She hollered after me "don't be offended all the shops have no photo signs". Well, that may be true but not all the shops have rude owners.

Cute little pet shop in Florence. My three dogs were welcomed with treats and the owner was very personable and takes great care of her store. I got some ACD socks as well as a flirt pole that my dogs love. I would to say that I'd go back, but I'm not from the area! I'm glad I got to experience it.
