Motel 101

Motel 101 is a pleasant, cute little motel right off the main road, respected in the community and known as a great budget experience. The location is very convenient, with the ocean across the street. The rooms are clean, safe, handicap accessible, and the grounds are well maintained with parking right outside. The beds are frequently described as very comfortable, the most comfortable some guests have experienced. The owner or manager is often noted as very friendly, helpful, honest, and welcoming, sometimes going above and beyond for guests. It is considered a good deal for the cost with a reasonable rate and great hot showers. However, some significant issues impact the stay. The front office can be closed in the evening, causing confusion and a lack of immediate assistance, requiring guests to call a number that may not be answered. The motel also deals with full-time residents, and incidents involving drunk guests screaming, fighting, and yelling in the parking lot until very late have occurred, creating safety issues, a terrible experience, and a lack of sleep. These disturbances, including verbal altercations, have been brushed off by management. While the rooms are clean, they need a little TLC and the door frames could use a scrub; the bathtub is dated and the furniture is cheap, but the owner is actively fixing it up. Overall, it is a good, clean place to stay for those not seeking a resort experience, but potential noise and security issues are a concern.
