Dont take your dog here if they are difficult or anxious. I wish I would have read the reviews before bringing my dog in. This location was able to schedule me at short notice for a teeth cleaning and I think they were trying to work with me, just didnt listen to me.I dropped my dog off and warned people he is difficult and bitey. about an hour later I get a call letting me the estimated cost and asking if I had a budget for them to work around if more work needed to be done (I thought this was weird but have never dealt with teeth issues before) so I declined and asked that they call when they know what the total costs are. This person also mentioned that this surgery could break my dogs jaw although it was unlikely. Seemed unnecessary to say if its unlikely.About an hour after that, they called again and said he was being too difficult and I needed to come get him. It would either be a $190 charge for the blood work if I take him somewhere else, or I could bring him back on sedatives in a week and they would try again. My dog doesn't do well on sedatives, I tried to explain, that we've tried this before but didn't seem to matter.I called the Banfield I normally take him to (who didn't have any appts until end of January) and they gave me a few suggestions that I called back with. The new person on the phone, seemed to get defensive and said one of the options could kill my dog (second time someone mentioned him dying). I started crying because my dog isn't eating well because of his teeth and I don't want him to continue to be in pain but the sedatives do not help. She was kind of nicer after that (didn't mention him dying again) but we didn't really get anywhere. Then I went in to pick him up, knowing I would not be back for a follow-up, the vet came out and we ended up arguing. I was not trying to argue with her, just get my dog and go. I mentioned multiple times that I've tried the sedatives they were suggesting and it made matters worse but she did not seem to hear me. She also suggested that one of the options that the other vet recommended could kill him (3rd time someone talked about him being seriously hurt or dying). Eventually, I said, I am not coming back here, please give me the prescription and I will schedule elsewhere to which she replied "that's your prerogative" and left. The whole experience was needlessly frustrating. I'm all for knowing risks, but I think the conversations could have been handled with a better bedside manner. I think it came down to poor communication, and maybe some people having bad days (myself included). Adding this review because now that I took the time to read the reviews, seems like I'm not alone in having issues with a difficult dog here.Just messaged Banfield on Facebook.

Really disappointing experience. Brought our dog in with anxiety issues, we were told not to come to the back while they did an exam. Sure that’s fine. Vet spent about 2 minutes doing an “exam” the tech came out and told us our dog was fat and needs training. They said here’s some trazadone (he’s allergic). We requested to speak with the vet but apparently she was in surgery and couldn’t see us during our scheduled appointment time? The original appointment was supposed to be several hours where they would observe him and assess his anxiety levels but they claimed they couldn’t hold him because he had too much anxiety? That’s what the appointment was for! Of course he has high anxiety. Anyway we are done giving banfield our business, pretty much an assembly line at this point. Oh and they charged us $75 for 2 minutes. Please go to any other reputable vet in the area there are lots of great small clinics in Portland that don’t treat you like a number.

Worst banfield I’ve been too! My family goes to a different location with no issue. I will NEVER return and I will make sure to let others know. You shouldn’t force your patients to leave their pets. I’ve expressed three times to three different people when we made the original appointment as well as the reschedule and the follow up for confirmation. “I do not feel comfortable leaving my pets, are you sure I’m able to attend the visit” each time I was answered with “ yes that’s no problem” and here we are, show up for my appointment and it’s a lie, then you have the nerve to think I’m going to reschedule with you? You’re sick out your mind. The lack of communication, follow through and lies, on top of the fact that you are making me feel forced to leave my pet with complete strangers as we are new customers. Yeathat was a great first impression, I will never return to banfield and will be following up with corporate. The customer service is terrible at this location and to the little tech who had the smart mouth, you should be ashamed of yourself and need to get some training because you have no purpose in customer service and working with clients with your miserable attitude “MA”AM”. Also when you are talking to someone and they don’t want to be referred to as that, respect that as well. You don’t know me or how I identify so don’t make an assumption. This was a shorter woman with waves black hair and glasses wearing all black scrubs on 10/28 at 9:55am.

I have never had such good care of my dogs. They are always treated warmly and treated with the utmost of compassion. I love the insurance that Banfield Pet offers. Yesterday I had my standard poodles teeth cleaned and it cost me $13.25. Because of the insurance, I am never late on vaccinations or dental care. It has made me a better pet parent. Also, with the insurance you have access to 24/7 advice. It's a great deal.

This new location is super clean and well ran. We brought our 8 week old puppy in and they were so sweet to her!

Had the worst experience here at this office. Everyone I had an interaction with was horrible with the exception of Miranda at the front desk who was very cordial. Their body language and tone of voice were horrible with every interaction I had while I was there and while I was on the phone with them. They are more worried about upgrading your wellness plan than the actual situation at hand, which in this case was a double ACL tear for my dog.

Traveling makes it difficult to get an appointment with a vet. Happy to get one here. My dog is terrified on vets and groomers. Turns out the appointment was just a drop-off time and not with the vet. All anyone wanted to do here was sell pet insurance. I made another appointment so I could talk face to face with a vet. Just canceled because I had to have my dog put down at 5 am on Saturday.

This is the worst veterinary clinic I've ever seen! They are nothing but greed and are not concerned about your pet at all. Went there for a week and ended up paying close to $700 for not care. Kitty is still sick and they really didn't know what was wrong. Ear mites? Ear infection? Worms? Vitamin deficiency or Ring Worms? What, you can not tell? Then what have I been paying for?! Well let's give him some amoxicillin for a week and see what happens?! Screwballs! Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Happy Valley Banfield Pet Hospital and go to the VCA pet clinic on 82nd Dr. They actually care about your pet and fix your pet's issue. Banfield you should be ashamed of yourself!

Subpar service for the price. They are more interested in you spending money than treating your animal. I dropped my kitten off at 10am, dod not receive any update throughout the day, called them back at 5:30 to tell them I was coming to pick him up, and they still didn't get a chance to look at him. I waited 20 minutes for them to run a test on him, cost me an additional $180. And to cancel the wellness program contract was an additional $250. Avoid at all costs.

Friendly and competent but they will run up your bill if you let them with a bunch of questionable add-ons. But wait you love your pet don't you and you want them to live long you have to get our food. I know it's $$$ something a bag but if you don't it means you don't love your dog. Not close to what was actually said just how it was interpreted by me.

Horrible! Do not bring your pet here! They told me my pet had a condition based on the X-rays they took and when I saw the specialist there wasn't a problem at all! The doctor I saw, Rosario, I believe her name was.. was very rude when I asked her to explain his condition.

Waiting time is short.Phones are being answered promptly.Went for a happy visit and the staff went beyond. 2 of them came out from the clinic and greeted our dogs; gave them treats and toured the place for a positive vet clinic visit.

Started my puppies care at this facility due to it being new and offering a wellness plan. I have been extremely pleased. I'm there about once every 3 weeks for vaccination appointments. I also had to bring my puppy in for a doctor visit. So how far I have met two of the doctors and several technicians and everybody including the front office staff have been fantastic. Even calling to change appointments, I always get someone who is very friendly on the phone. The wellness plan is fantastic. It really covers a lot and it is so refreshing to go into the vet and not be spending hundreds of dollars each time. Especially when you have a puppy. Who is there every month. I will be switching over my other dogs care to this facility when she is due for her vaccines. Knock on wood, every time I leave there. I am just very pleased with the care my puppy receives. They answer all of my questions, which are many, and allow me as much time as needed without feeling rushed. Rushed. Oh and the huge benefit, they have early morning hours and they're open Monday through Sunday.

My cat is a very easily frightened cat when it comes to strangers. For no reason at all they took my cat to the back. they did the whole check up and vaccines in front of us right after so what was the point? It wasn’t long but it was long enough to frighten my cat. Customer service was horrible. They were very rude and unprofessional. I would ask a question and she would anwser in a horrible tone. I just wanted to know what they were giving my cat.
