“We've stayed here a few years back when it was called a different hotel, and it wasn't very kept, to say the least. This time, however, they were sold out everywhere due to the fire, and this was the last remaining hotel. So we came here, knowing it wasn't great and only purchased 1 day so we're pleasantly surprised with how much they have improved and updated the rooms that we actually stayed THERE another night instead of trying to seek a different hotel. If you have stayed here before, believe me, it HAS changed. It's still a decent price, and the rooms are finally looking like a hotel you would stay in. That's why I am writing a review. Simply because THIS hotel needs credit, for whoever this new ownership is. Great job! If I return to John Day, I will be staying here again... as long as the price is still good and the rooms look like this, ??”

“This hotel absolutely saved our peace of mind on an otherwise perilous drive. I-84 was closed from Pendleton to Ontario. The authorities had no established detour route and wouldn’t even communicate the reason for the closure (was the road washed out, buried in a landslide or just snowed over? Are we talking an overnight closure or many days to weeks?) Not wanting to find out, we diverted south on US-395 and stopped in John Day intending to take a rest stop around 8:30p fully intending to spend the night in Ontario. As we ate dinner, Google maps kept increasing the time adding hour after hour until we wouldn’t make it until 1-2am.
Exhausted, we called the Best Western and Megan answered. She was so helpful and empathetic, offered us a room with a discount (which was very much appreciated as we hadn’t planned/budgeted for this stop.) Hotel amenities were updated and clean. Breakfast was fresh and had a large variety of hot and cold options.
Great for those who prefer a firm mattress. Fridge and microwave are available in room. Water pressure was high with plenty of hot water. Parking is plentiful, with a larger lot for trailers. Dogs are allowed and there are safe routes with sidewalks around the neighborhood nearby.”
“Great house overlooking the valley. Very modern and clean with tons of little amenities like horse shoes, washer/dryer, tons of patio supplies like chairs, grill, even a nice un-stocked patio bar. I will definitely stay here again.”
