Hiked the Fall River Loop. It was packed snow and ice with a couple tress down, but all passable. An easy and quiet loop with the kids!

Big Tree - Ponderosa PineIt's a quick walk down a paved path to this huge Ponderosa Pine. It resides close to the big Deschutes river in a quiet area of the park. Since this is paved, it can accommodate strollers, wheelchairs and scooters. The river view is beautiful too. Close proximity to the campgrounds and day use area of this state park. The perfect after dinner walk.Walkability: It's a short walk down a paved path, through the forest to this huge tree.

What an excellent campground! It was quiet, clean, and very well maintained. Flush toilets, clean, hot showers... what more do we need? Thanks Oregon!

Love this beautiful park. Really wish it could stay as desolate as it use to be, but the ever growing population has made it to this small town. A phenomenal park to stay at and enjoy out door family fun.Rooms: The state park has the cutest cabins that you can rent. Great camping and rv sites as well.

The showers in our loop were a bit janky, but overall it was a really nice experience.

The sunset was beautiful along the Deschutes River. (We followed the trail on the map to walk down to the water.) *see photos.Their showers/bathrooms were clean and had a large private one in the back of the building. That is perfect for a family with small kids. (*see photo)Their spaces are really close together, so that is why I deducted a star, but we were just passing through and were happy to have found a place that wasn't closed for the season. The price was also very reasonable. If we're ever back in that area, needing a spot for a night, we would return for another stay.

Aside from having the oldest Ponderosa Pine in the world at 500+ years and standing 162 feet tall the park is a great sanctuary of quiet trails and high desert flora. A wonderful day trip from any location in central Oregon. On the western edge of the park is the state campground which offers full hookup RV sites and tent camping for those who wish to stay longer.

Love the park. Great place to visit. October 1 closes part of the campground BUT... The back half of the campground remains open year round.
