Love the classes offered by other artists. They are almost always for beginners as well as more experienced artists. It is, at its best, a friendly creative place to make art. I also love that you can buy original art, often chat with the artist, and know that in addition to getting art at a great price, you are also supporting an artist. And that the artist is not having to pay half the cost of the art to the gallery or the middleman.

Excellent place to take an artsy class -- welcoming and casual. The gallery has many interesting pieces made by local artists.

Come and enjoy the beautiful art at ASA. Members display their art in the studio that is available to purchase. Classes are scheduled throughout the year for the adults and children to join and learn about different forms of art.

I have discovered that I really miss taking classes in different art techniques and media. It's true -- I paint all the time. And it's also true that I'm not much good at clubs and associations and societies and other joining kinds of groups. But -- that's where a lot of seminars, classes, workshops and other learning opportunities can be found. So I bite the shyness-bullet and hold on tight to my paint brush and jump in. There are so many artists (both amateur and professional) of all kinds on this stretch of Central Oregon Coast -- it's a great place for potters, wood carvers, metal workers and glass people because of the endlessly moderate temperature. It's a great place for painters and sketching because of --well -- the SCENERY, the light, the ocean, the air quality -- you name it. You can't swing a pencil without hitting something worth drawing. The ASA offers classes -- both for adults and school age artists; as well as classes for all levels of experience. Class topics vary depending on what instructors are available -- sometimes focusing on a specific technique; sometimes exploring a new tool or even a specific subject. They offer open studio space at least once a week if you just want to come up and make your art in good company. They offer wall space so you can share your art -- and enjoy what everybody else is making. They even come together once a month for a meal and some conversation. The space is adjacent to the Artists Co-Op Gallery on the Pacific Coast Hwy -- which features the work of many of the ASA members. (It's a great little gallery -- well worth a stop-in if you're in town.) And the classes (at least the ones I've been to) have been enjoyable and a chance to try new things. -- and a chance to meet new people Membership in ASA gets you a reduced tuition -- which pays for itself with just a few afternoons of class time.
