I can say with confidence I have never been spoken to with such disrespect from an employee at any establishment let alone the owner of a business. He spoke to my sister and I in a demeaning, patronizing, childlike tone that completely appalled us. Unprofessional and quite honestly embarrassing. Don’t come here if you are a woman or non-white, spend your money elsewhere.

Quickly becoming my favorite record store. Not a huge selection by any means, but quite well curated. I always find several obscure hidden gems every visit. The owner and crew are always super helpful and friendly – definitely a shop run by music nerds for music nerds.

Love having a small, local record shop in town! Every time we go in there is something new and exciting on the record wall to tempt me. You can tell they put a lot of thought and effort into what they bring in. Great vibes, great music playing and a great staff!

In the past, when they were located by Dollar Tree, they always carried the music that I liked. One employee was sort of rude, the other was always kind. Now in their new location, I avoid them and only look at their window displays.

Such a cute classic vintage shop. It was fun as a teenager and it’s still fun as an adult. My fiancé loved it.

I’m so disappointed in my trip to Third street this evening. I couldn’t believe how rude the old man was. Not sure if he’s the owner. My teen accidentally dropped a record and corner had a tiny bend in it. The old man took it and scolded him saying “You need to be more careful, look what you did. Are you planning on purchasing this now?”He apologized and was very embarrassed.Obviously it was an accident. Our hands were cold from being outside. The record is in a plastic cover. It’s slippery. We did purchase a record. But I totally would’ve just left if it wasn’t for a birthday gift.Bad experience. Accidents happen and it’s not ok to make people feel stupid.

A weekend in McMinnville that included a night at the McMennamins Hotel, wine tasting, a concert at the “somewhat” nearby casino, and shopping along the Hallmark-like storefronts. Memorable!Popped into this record store and the vibe was good— incense and some great music playing. Flipped thru a few album bins, and it looked as though the majority of albums I saw were brand new. As an employee [the owner] walked by, I asked if they were any used albums as well as new in the store. He spoke to me as if I were 5 years old! Proceeds to point at the price sticker ($35) on an album then points to another which was much less and says, “see the price, you can see it’s lower, it’s used” How do you spell condescending? My partner asks what’s the music playing. His tone of voice speaking to my partner was so helpful. I tell my partner, “the guy’s a douche”We proceed to each buy an album—Goodbye Yellow Brickroad and Some Kind of Blue. Separate sales. The owner is curt and cold to me. My partner gives me the sideways look listening/watching my transaction being completed. It’s now my partner’s transaction—holey moley is his transaction sweet and friendly?!Not sure why the cold and unfriendly vibe towards me. Not my first time in a vinyl store. Cut the condescending vibe! Of course I paid way more at this store for Miles Davis. Much cheaper [new as well] online. I enjoy shopping at the little stores and chatting with the shopkeepers. That’s the experience you miss out while shopping on lineNot going back there!

Weekend getaway to McMinnville. Stayed at McMennamin's Hotel, wine tasting, and a concert at the casino down the way. Great little town. Vortex Records was THE only negative vibe of this Hallmark-like town. The owner was just plain rude to me. Spoke to me as though I were a child. Curt and unfriendly. Condescending as can be. I was there with my guy--I'm Latina and he's definitely not--and my guy was treated WAY nicer and friendlier. When the owner spoke to me in his rude way, my guy and I exchanged sideway looks. "What's his deal?" I know I could have gotten my album for much less online, but I do believe in supporting local businesses. I regret that purchase now. I will not return nor recommend this place! Skip past this incensed store!!

I really want to like this record store, a small business in a small town and all. Don't get me wrong, for a small town and small business it's an okay place. For a record store it's not amazing and the owner doesn't know as much about the music as he wants you to believe. The incense smell that permeated the day we visited made me wonder what he was masking. My guy called it a HeadShop after leaving, and given there was a back room we didn't enter and all the body piercing jewelry and incense selection.. it could be? Either way, I won't drive to McMinnville to go back to this place and not sure I would stop in again, when in town. But if you are a local and it's your only options.. sure..

Support local and especially indie shops!! Great little shop with friendly and personable staff. When an owner is proactive in working a shift, that speaks volumes. Great blow out prices on used CDs. Decent selection of music on CD and vinyl in addition to posters, body jewelry, tapestries, incense, etc.
