Horrible customer service especially from Lexi. We are used to exceptional customer service from other Hertz locations being a President’s Circle member. We booked an intermediate car and they blatantly lied told us that a Toyota Corolla was already an “upgrade”. I called customer service and they confirmed it was not upgrade. The only reason we use Hertz is for the perks we get as President’s circle member. We would use Enterprise from now own when we are in Medford.

I have been charged for a damage that I did not cause and required to pay $2,724.92 for repair which has not been performed.
I rented a 2025 Toyota Camry on May 16, 2025 at Hertz Rogue Valley International Airport in Medford, OR. This car rental is operated by Overland West, Inc., a Hertz licensee owner.
I returned the car in the same condition as I received it 5 days and 95 miles later on May 21, 2025. Overland West has never contacted me directly. Instead, Carol Price, the manager, filed a damage report and forwarded it to PurCo, a collection agency asking them to file a claim and collect. The claim is based on a carbon copy of a handwritten inspection report showing no damage at the time of rental and a photograph showing damage at the undercarriage presumably of the same car.
I have been disputing this claim since I first received it. My dispute is based on the followings:
There are no detailed before and after rental vehicle condition reports containing photographic evidence and signatures to be able to compare. I requested, but did not receive, the inspection report they prepared after this car was returned by the renter prior me. Instead, they are using a faint carbon copy of an outdated Form# 173 with a simple diagram on it showing only the top view of a car for before condition, and a photograph for after condition to prove that the damage occurred during my rental period.
This carbon copy of Form# 173 differs from the original in that it does not show any damage and the damage marking explanations are crossed out. When I presented a time and location stamped photograph of the original taken immediately after I signed it in front of the person who completed it, the claim specialist at PurCo did not dare to suggest that the pre-exiting damage markings shown on the original were added after the facts.
I have never seen the damage in dispute in spite of inspecting and photographing the car both before and after rental. The photograph provided by Hertz, which has no time and location stamp on it, shows old damages of the plastic cover located in the undercarriage and, just like my own video of the same location, does not show the damage of the front bumper. Undercarriage damages cannot be seen unless you bend down and look under the vehicle.
The Accident/Damage report by Carol Price, the manager at Medford, states that the damage in question was reported by “Austin (USA)” not in Medford, Oregon where I rented and returned the car. The damage report by “Austin (USA)” has not been included in the claim.
The cost of repair was estimated by a third party, the Rough Auto Body LLC, at odometer reading of 8,445. The car was rented to me at 18,471 miles.
In spite of these findings the claim has not been dropped. PurCo requests me to pay a total of $2,724.92. $1,637.23 for physical damage, $787.69 for loss of use and $300 administration of the claim in spite of the fact that the repair of this damage as of 7/9/2025, according to Rough Auto Body LLC, has not been completed. Not repairing a hidden undercarriage damage of a rental car can cause financial damage and emotional distress to future unsuspecting renters or buyer.

Scammers – Avoid This Location
This same scam shows up again and again in the reviews, and I experienced it myself.
I arrived with a reservation made two months earlier using points. The confirmed total charge was $92.30 for a large sedan. At the counter, Lexani asked if we wanted to upgrade to the largest SUV—we said no, but agreed the smallest SUV, like a Toyota 4Runner, would be fine.
What she did not mention was the $65/day upgrade fee and other hidden charges totaling $613 for what was supposed to be a free five-day points rental. She folded and stapled the invoice without showing it to us. Luckily, I checked it in the parking lot and saw the scam.
When I went back to switch to the original large sedan, they claimed none were available (despite a lot full of SUVs). Instead, Lexani offered another 4Runner for $230. When I pointed out my reservation clearly stated $92.30 total, she told me to “call Hertz” they must have made a mistake. Corporate Hertz instructed the site to honor my rate, but Lexani refused to talk to them, saying she didn’t work for Hertz. She then flat-out refused talk to us at all and told us to go elsewhere.
We did—and found a last-minute large sedan at National for $430 all in, with zero games.
Take Hertz Medford’s advice: go elsewhere. This location is only interested in scamming customers. 100% certain this post will be followed up by the owners disingenuous 'we are sorry you did not receive a 5 star experience, please direct message us'

Totally Lame… you make a reservation here for a truck a day in advance and it’s not available.. better yet you get to the counter and they say “so sorry” no options.. I made the reservation online and they say “yeah that doesn’t mean anything.” Go to budget or Avis at the next counter over.. Lame as Lame can be

My first time renting through Hertz and will never again. You will be greeted with hostility and no smile. Check your paperwork because they lie about prices. I used my AAA for a discount and called the local Hertz a week before to ask if I could add an extra day with the same rate or if I needed to call AAA. They said they could honor the rate. They were still trying to charge me for the one day a full rate. Then they lied about the insurance, you think they’re being honest when they had the paper to sign so check everything before signing. The manager owner is even worse, when I came to the airport the next day she literally snickers under her breath. Now I will just take it up with my credit card company. Go to budget or enterprise!

Terrible experience with Hertz at Medford airport. Booked a car about a month in advance. Showed up at airport, needing to get home, and Hertz had no car available. Staff provided no suggested fixes, did not offer to help find a car via another vendor, etc. Just offered a shrug. Will not consider Hertz again.

What a nightmare! Just avoid at all cost!
This is a local branch and not part of the corporate Hertz. So, corporate Hertz cannot help you and the people at the desk absolutely will not. I thought I was being comped a better vehicle… I had a reservation for a week at a cost of $250. They gave me an “upgrade” that was $120 extra per day. No explanation, no warning. Just initial here, you’re ready to go.
Tried to clear up the confusion and was accused of yelling and threatened to hang up. Asked for the manager and was told “I was right here next to her and you WERE yelling” … why did it take 5 minutes to get you on the phone?!?

Backstory: I made a reservation 1 week out from arriving. I am under 25 so I was expecting some extra fees and was fine with that. I don’t have a credit card but had enough money to put a reasonable deposit down and pay for the 4 days I had the car booked for.
When arriving I went up to the counter and tried to get my rental car. When I told the worker I would pay with a debit card it all went down hill. My rental car (with fees and tax) was gonna cost 200 bucks. When i went to pay the total came out to 1025 dollars. I was appalled and asked why it was so large. They wanted basically 800 dollars for a deposit even though I booked a round trip and had to come back to that same airport 4 days later. If I had a credit card it was still gonna be a 300 dollar deposit on top of my rental cost. Maybe I’m just broke and can’t have 800 bucks missing from my bank account for 4 days but I felt this was very unreasonable.

My whole experience with Dollar/Hertz at Rogue Valley International in Medford and the John Wayne airport in Santa Ana was horrendous. Rented from Rogue for vacation with my family for comfort and safety only to experience mechanical failure and have to exchange the car mid-rental, waiting 3+ hours for a tow truck and paying for an uber to get my family to Santa Ana airport. I was issued another car in Santa Ana and continued on returning the car to rogue valley. I was told Santa Ana did the exchange incorrectly and they could not close my account. Ultimately, I was charged way more than I contracted for because they opened 2 contracts with each location making their own charges, fees, and taxes. Each location holding several different deposits on my card and not communicating with each other well, as well as, corporate offices calling me during the holidays accusing me of not returning their vehicle. An employee at Rogue tried to help me but ultimately the company’s procedures and posture toward costumers is set up in a way that does not protect anyone. Only one of their charges actually reflect the receipt they sent me and total charges are way above what I agreed to pay. I warn future costumers with this review that Hertz/Dollar is disorganized, lacks communication skills, and obviously doesn’t understand that costumers satisfaction and safety should be their first priority.

Terrible customer service. Their card machine would not accept my credit card. Said their machines were out of date and wouldn’t accept tap pay since my chip was broken. Wouldn’t work with me to get it paid and ended up leaving me stranded after I booked online.

Go literally anywhere else at this airport. They'll give you a smoke damaged car and charge you for smoke damage because their cleaner didn't catch it. Doesn't matter how high up the chain you try to talk, they're gonna take your money.

We arrived to the Medford Airport to rent a car only to find that the car REEKED of weed. It was to the degree that we pulled over and purchased air freshener to try to fix the smell…only to find that Hertz charged us $300 and accused us of smoking in it upon our return. There are plenty of other rental companies at the airport. I highly recommend choosing one of them instead.
Edit: It’s interesting how they will reply on this review forum but when we called to get it sorted out, they were not interested in hearing us and insisted on maintaining the charge. My above review still stands.

The woman working for this hertz saved my day when I needed a one way car on short notice! Thank you Halea for such excellent customer service. I wish all companies had staff as helpful and dedicated as you are!
