On June 7th, 2025, at approximately 9pm, my roommate and I visited the TJ Maxx store in Medford, OR. While browsing, an employee publicly announced over her mic that she was monitoring both of us. Her reasoning was based on our tattoos, as my roommate has multiple tattoos and I have extensive facial and neck tattoos and more. My roommate addressed the issue respectfully, inviting her to approach us and observe our activities. I was taken aback and considered leaving due to her discriminatory behavior. My roommate shared my sentiment. I continued shopping while my roommate spoke with the manager, who unfortunately took no action. As a long-time customer, I have been loyal to TJ Maxx for several years, but this incident has led me to reevaluate my patronage. Having recently relocated to Oregon, I had only visited this particular store twice, including the day of the incident. The discriminatory treatment I received was unprecedented in my experience with TJ Maxx. Despite my tattoos, I have never been subjected to such blatant discrimination and public humiliation. It is disconcerting to note that TJ Maxx's handbook explicitly states that discrimination is not tolerated, yet the employee's actions were in direct contradiction to this policy.

Went in and I grabbed eight different styles of shirts, noticed the other seven had makeup on them… came home to find the one that appeared clean had also been tainted with makeup.
At checkout I overheard another customer complaining of the same issue, the cashier said “it’s probably from someone messing with them on the rack, if you take it home and wash it it should come out, if it doesn’t come out you can return it”.
I’m disappointed in the clothes selection … generally the beauty section is decent (face wash, body wash) so that saved the rating from one star, but I would not recommend for clean dress shirts.

This store looks like a bomb went off. I was shopping for dresses. Take a look at the dress section photo. Boxes and bins blocking the section. The fitting room was worse. Why? 15 minute wait because 3 of the 7 fitting rooms were filled with boxes and not in use. The hallway to the fitting rooms also packed with boxes. Garbage and dust balls in the fitting rooms. Most of the store looked like this; dirt, boxes and bins everywhere blocking aisles and sizing not even close to being in order. Not shopping here again.

Normally, I love TjMaxx. This visit was not as good. The selection was low, and prices had increased. In October, I found great buys. Purses on sale starting at $15.00 and up. This time, the lowest price that I came across was about $28.00. Hopefully, my next visit will have better luck.
