Mongata Winery is warm, authentic, and bursting with magic and charm. From the rustic barn tasting room and the greeting by their gentle, friendly dogs to the red chairs by the South Fork of the Walla Walla River, everything feels intentional yet relaxed. Scott welcomed us like old friends, sharing the unforgettable story of how they came to own this piece of magic—pure serendipity! A story we had to write about. The wines reflect the ancient cobblestone soils of the Walla Walla River Valley, and the charcuterie board was one of the best we’ve had—thoughtful, abundant, and perfect with the wines. Sitting among vines heavy with grapes as the sun settled over the hills, Mongata felt like more than a winery—it felt like a path to what matters.

What an experience! We stayed at the Vineyard BnB, so much to rave about. Accommodations are wonderful, creek runs through property year round, stunning sunsets, exceptional wines and two wacky Great Pyrs, Cooper and Brix. The owners are beyond accommodating. The drive is south of Walla Walla but not a big deal.

This is a hidden gem! A boutique winery with picturesque views and fabulous wine…I recommend the Syrah:) The owner was delightful and our server was welcoming and informative. They made us feel at home and gave us recommendations to other wineries to visit throughout our stay. We will definitely go back!

An absolutely wonderful winery with great wine and incredible owners. The physical location can’t be beat, it’s a beautiful place to have a winery and a wine tasting. Don’t be intimidated by Cooper and Brix, the dogs are so friendly and calm.

What a wonderful place to visit and sample some amazing wines. For those looking for a more intimate setting and an opportunity to meet the owners in person, this is a great winery. Not your typical winery in the area and I'll certainly be back on my next trip.

We were tipped off about this winery by a well-connected local, and we are SO happy that we gave it a try! It is tucked into a beautiful canyon in the countryside, and you couldn't ask for a cuter rural drive. The winery is planted on the same material as the famous Rocks District (basalt deposited by an ancient flood), so the wines have a complex minerality to them, and are VERY well-crafted. I was extremely surprised to find very sophisticated and clean wines tucked away so far from the beaten path!
The owners are lovely people, and the winery is just stunningly gorgeous. We will definitely visit here again the in future!

Hospitable, friendly, family oriented. Go out of your way for a tasting here in Milton freewater for a great experience. Added perk to a winery in Oregon versus Walla Walla is no sale tax !

This is a must visit place if your visiting Walla Walla or nearby. We’ve been to Tuscany, Bordeaux, and Napa, but this place felt just as beautiful and with a welcoming environment. I recommend this for anyone looking for a causal or celebration visit. Vicki and Scott are such great hosts and you’ll feel right at home. The winery itself is located in a canyon with a gorgeous barn/tasting room onsite.

Mongata winery is a top tier establishment! Not only are their wines and views incredible, but their customer service is next level! I left my sunglasses behind when visiting and the owner shipped them back to my house for me, which was so kind. Mongata is a wonderful place to visit, and they are extremely accommodating with large groups! We will definitely be back!

We loved our visit to Mongata. The owner, Vicky, was great and super accommodating! This was maybe the prettiest winery location that we've been to in the valley. Even though the winery is pretty new the offerings and wine were well made and very good for a reasonable price! While on the property in the foothills of the Blues you can walk to the Walla Walla river, play with dogs, and have a treat of some cheeses from the Walla Walla Cheese Company. Will be back again!!

We found this this gem when we were looking for new wineries to visit in the Walla Walla area. Off the beaten path outside of Milton-Freewater just over the Oregon border and a 30 min drive from Walla Walla, Mongata Estate Winery sits in a beautiful valley and offers some of the best wine I've had in this or any other area. Their Syrah's are their signature wine, but be sure to try the Rose' and the Cab as well, you'll be missing something special if you don't. The Proprietors Vicki and Scott are welcoming, friendly, and a joy to meet and talk with about their project. I highly recommend taking the drive and spending some time at this up and coming winery.
