Nice store in the middle of no where. You can get most things and if they are missing anything you just let them know and they will order it for next time. Sweet people.

Great little store in an awesome community, that has almost anything you could ever need or want. If they don't have it, you probably don't need it!

Plenty of items to put together meals if you are camping of staying in the area. The only thing they lacked was fresh chicken

An old West style merchantile. They sell everything from ammunition to ice cream, from car parts to cookies. Make sure you stop here and give them some business as Mitchell is a no stoplight town. They also have local produce! Ask about their shower service!

I am on a very restricted diet, which includes GF, and am accustomed to packing my food around wherever I go. I stopped by the store and was amazed by the selection of specialty food they offered. I am not saying they are a Whole Foods or Coop, etc, but I would never have expected any options let alone the many options that they do offer. I assume they get visitors from virtually everywhere since they are the closest town to the Painted Hills. Every other remote general store I have ever been to made no attempt to accommodate different diets. I would encourage the owners to make their food selection more visible to future visitors with more photos of their selection on their Facebook page and Google (If they did I clearly missed it). I wouldn't have bothered bringing most of the food I brought, and would have happily bought everything there instead.

I love a good old-fashioned mercantile store. The one in Mitchell has everything! My grandson needed a few things, we found everything and them some. The prices are reasonable. I even found a candy bar I loved as a kid. It was an awesome experience!

Wheeler County Trading Company has a deep inventory that is helpful to locals - with anything from building a house, to fencing in a ranch - and travelers coming to see the Painted Hills and John Day Fossil Beds. The store is chock full of needful things for life in remote Oregon, as well as a great selection of supplies for sporting and exploring. If you're headed to Eastern Oregon, this place has what you need to make your trip a success.

This is a well supplied store for being in the middle of nowhere! The town is almost otherwise completely dead.

Neat, old-fashioned small town store. Friendly folks. Amazing how much food and deer heads they pack into the place.
