Made an appointment here for my dog because he hurt his tooth- saw blood on a snack and now he's whimpering when eating. They charged me $395 and did not look at his teeth or discuss his potential injury/ pain with me. They told me they don't do that at their office- wish I knew that when I made the appointment. I called a week ago because of the blood/ potential tooth injury. It looks like one of his teeth cracked in half/ it's clearly cracked off. He was recently adopted from the shelter, so I also needed to establish vet care. I explained this on the phone. We went today and I reviewed with the vet tech that the primary concern is his teeth. She was aware of this as she had been given the concern list (made via the phone call) from reception. Other concerns were minor- getting up to date on vaccines & he's been chewing at his paws. The vet came in and asked that my dog be put on the table and immediately started listening to his heart with her stethoscope. My dog is a very mellow, gentle boy, but due to abusive past, he is scared of objects coming at him. He won't even eat peanut butter off a spoon cuz he's scared of spoons. The vet didn't even greet my dog/ let him sniff her, just told the tech to put him in a choke hold and started poking at him. He was scared and cried out a little. I tried to tell him it was ok and the vet scolded me and told me to firmly tell him "no" and not coddle him when he cries out. I'm glad that he expresses when he is nervous and he usually just needs a little reassurance- her method is how dogs bite "out of no where" when you tell them they are bad for communicating their discomfort. (I didn't stop the exam, I just spoke to him in a soothing voice and stood where he could see me.) She then lifted his cheek and barely glanced at his teeth. She maybe saw 3 back teeth from the side- the broken tooth is in the front. She stated he needed a teeth cleaning (I know and wanted to get that scheduled today.) She then said he was gaining weight because I have him on a grain free diet (no advice about how much I should be feeding him or any food recommendations). I tried to start a discussion around his diet and tried to explain why I chose the food he was on. I said "I've read the studies, but it seems that the main problem is replacing grains with legumes." She cut me off and only said "anyone can write anything on the internet." She then left the room with my dog to give him vaccines, but I wasn't really sure what was happening. The tech came back with the cost breakdown. This seemed standard and I signed. I had provided them with his vaccine paperwork, but they still gave his extra vaccines he wasn't due for yet. Then a new tech brought me my dog and told me they would be giving me his heartworm to take home and we would be all set to go. I asked if the vet would be coming back as we didn't really discuss any of the things that I came in to discuss- not his mouth injury or even his general health/ wellness. The tech told me that the vet didn't really talk to people. I asked if there was another vet or if the vet could come talk to me since I still had questions/ concerns. They said I could come another day, but the vet refused to come back into the room to speak with me anymore and that she had "moved on to other patients for the day." I had 2 employees tell me that there are other vets at the office I could request to see next time and it would be understandable- this seems to be a common problem with this vet (Briar Cunningham). The office manager said I could discuss my concerns or have a vet tech perform an exam on my dog, but I would still be charged in full as the vet "did perform an exam." (I stated I did not want to pay the $55 vet exam if the vet would not examine my dog for the problem we booked this appointment for.) She also said that they didn't know I was coming in cuz of my dogs teeth and they don't do that at their office and would give m

Took my beloved dog in because she had a large abscess that appeared in one day. Did blood work, no biopsy, put in a drain tube, that stuck out of her body at the top and would never drain anything, gave me a prescription for antibiotic pills and some salve , said it wasn't cancer but didn't have any idea what it was. Charged over $700 and that was with my military discount. Second abscess appeared and I bought refills on the medicine. When third abscess appeared I had to have her put down. Wouldn't eat, couldn't get in my car. Charged me over $200 for two shots and 10 minutes listening to her heart until it stopped. I feel they are into money only and not caring about our animals. Will not go there again. Review says I am from San Francisco, I'm from Coos Bay, not sure how to change that

I had 3 visits here and although they may be on the pricey side, you get what you pay for! New in town, with the only dog I’ve ever had that loved going to the vet, thanks to the great care we received at Raintree Vet in Hoquiam, WA., I took my dog Charlie Brown, a 175lb Rotti here due to what I thought was an injury resulting from my new slippery hardwood floors. After 2 visits it was revealed that he had cancer and they couldn’t have been more compassionate when I made that hard choice. It would’ve been easy to place my anger/grief on them and they probably even anticipated that but the truth is they met my sweet boy and couldn’t have been more compassionate to him or myself under the circumstances. I received a sympathy card, signed by more people than I even realized worked there and a stone with his paw print that told me these people really care about animals and their owners. If you don’t appreciate what they do then you should try working at a shelter and I guarantee you’ll see that these people are a special breed that are willing to do what they do regardless of the inevitable heartbreak that comes with the job and often times the misdirected grief of the owner. I have rescued a new dog and will be calling today to make his first appt. Thanks to all of you for what you do! Sandie C. Charlie Browns Mom

Shamed me during my visit for not having all the dog Vax. Really dirty exam room with grime all along the baseboard. Scared to leave this comment 8n this vicious catholic community for my dogs safety. We're tough though, and he had his first round of shots and rabies Vax. Front office is loud and gabby and all females.

We moved here from Texas. I had my black Arabian stallion run away and tried to jump what appeared to him to be a blackberry hedge. It was blackberries overgrowing a 10' deep ravine. We cut away the blackberries to find him lying in a creek bed unable to get up. New to the area, I called Myrtle Point Veterinary Hospital to ask a vet to come out. This was during business hours. They refused. They left my horse to die in a ditch. I am a nurse. Medical people will go anywhere, anytime to help the injured and sick. Apparently, veterinary medicine is no longer like that. A year and a half later I called them to make an appointment to get my dog a rabies shot. The bill would have been $65.00. In Texas vets hold low cost vaccination clinics and I was shocked at the cost. I was told that other vets in the area are not taking new patients. This is not true. I found a vet in Coquille not associated with this outfit- total bill $45

After over a decade of getting a massive feral cat population under control and maintained on our property in the Lincoln City area, we and six of our rescues relocated to Gold Beach to find that absolutely no veterinarian on the coast would accept us as new clients.Due to a significant injury to our most elderly feral, it became urgent that we find immediate attention and I cannot tell you what a painful experience it was to be recipients of the lack of kindness and compassion, let alone offers of information or assistance we found from numerous "resources" in this area.I thank God that we found this organization. The professionalism, the humanity and just plain sweet attitude displayed by every person on the phone and every person I came into contact with as they diagnosed the multitude of ailments in poor old Frankie yesterday will never be forgotten. They healed so much more than an old, injured kitty. We have taken personal, financial responsibility for rescuing and maintaining well over 30 cats over the years and will continue to do the same for the remainder of our lives. While the trips to and from this clinic will be over 160 miles, all of our future needs will be directed to this incredibly worthy organization.Doctor Amy and her staff have hit upon a secret that far too many have missed, somehow... treat others as you would like to be treated; be kind and professional when you are having a hard day at work and remember - this is our "family" in need and pain. Compassion should be job one.Thank you for getting it so right.

I own a bearded dragon. He is very special to my daughter and me. His femoral pores were very clogged when I got him and I tried everything to get them unclogged but I just couldn't. I decided it was time to take him to a vet. I asked around and finally decided on Dr. Lisa at Myrtle Veterinary Hospital in Coquille. She and the staff were AMAZING and the price was BEYOND fair! I highly suggest taking your scale babies there if you are in need in our little community!

For the most part we have had good experiences with both the Coquille and Myrtle Point Clinic, altho' we do prefer going to the M.P. one for the main reason that we get to stop at A&W for a burger and root beer float if my Lil Miss Riley was a good patient...lol..Very friendly staff and always gentle and good with her. Takes time to answer my questions and go over any treatment or alternative treatments.

My dog has always been seen here and they have always been professional, understanding, helpful and answer any questions in a timely manner. My dog had surgery here and came out of surgery just fine they kept me updated through the whole thing and ran extra test to ease some of my concerns and his recovery was fast! You can barley tell he had surgery little to no scar.?
