Bill Williamson at the Spirits of the West is an alchemist distiller. I went to his store/distillery by chance and ended up really enjoying the taste of the Corn Sour Mash Whiskey (120 proof). Because of the uniqueness of the multiple distillations, the finish was so good and robust, I had to order me a bottle ($75). My buddy was equally pleased by some tastes of his tequilas. Terrific job Bill, keep up the craft!

No fake extracts used in these spirits, and it shows in the quality and complexity of flavors!Their mango is absolutely amazing, you’ve never tasted a spirit this fresh and real.Their peach is very good. It’s best to just stop by and do a tasting of anything you want. They’re friendly and helpful and will give you a complete backstory on every drink, or let you sit alone and quietly discover what you like about each sample. It’s all made on site, in fact you can even see the small still through the window, fun!

I wasn't looking for a distillery, but I had 5 minutes to kill waiting for my food order next door, spotted Western Spirits, and stopped in to see what they had going on.The tasting room walls are lined with bottles of whiskey, vodka and other fermented beverages. Along the back wall there is a large window so you can see the distillery. Everything they sell is made on the premises. That's pretty cool.I wasn't really looking to buy a bottle, so I glanced over the list of products. They've got a lot to offer. On page two of the product list, I saw grapa! I was intrigued. I've had grapa many times. It is an acquired taste that I have never acquired. In my opinion, even the best grapa tastes like varnish.Naturally, I tried a taste. Wow. The grapa they make at Western Spirits is good! I bought a bottle; I probably should have bought two.I didn't have time to try their other products, but next time I'm in Nehalem, I'm going back. I encourage you to check this place out.

Fun space, & nice owner / distiller, but I think he tries to do too much instead of focusing on a couple things & perfecting them. The one thing I liked in tasting he was out of, so I ended up spending $75 on a mediocre whiskey just to support since he gave his time & tastings & it was the only one I kinda liked, but it didn't hold up at home along side my other whiskeys. Its worth checking out if you're in town, but it can't compete with a good aged whiskey. I do recommend going as an experience though. A special thing for a small town for sure. Has potential to rise in quality of product like any distillery given time.

This distillery has a great selection of whisky and other spirits with a western theme. There is a nice tasting room so you can try before you buy. I could really taste the high quality ingredients and everything is delicious, especially the honey shine. I love that visitors can see into the back room through a window for a behind the scenes look at the alcohol making process that all takes place on site. Overall, this is a gem on the coast tucked in with some other shops.
