I was in Newport for Spring Break (2025) and had scheduled some maintenance on our Jeep Grand Cherokee with Rick. Not minor maintenance either. He went through everything meticulously and did a great job. The Jeep now runs like it did the day we bought it new. The next day, our son's Nissan Xterra started acting up. Rick got it right in, diagnosed it quickly and had it back on the road that evening. Rick is an excellent mechanic, I won't take my cars to anyone else (as long as I can get them over there) it's a 9 hour drive for me! Thanks Rick!

Car turned off while driving, luckily got it off the road safely. Towed here middle of the night, parked in wrong place which was mortifying. Still did expedient work to change and fix my timing belt, took time to set parts aside to show me what broke and what he did to fix it. Will definitely be back.

A neighbor recommended Rick at McDowell’s and she was spot on! The shop is amazing and Rick is honest, fair and knowledgeable. Our older cars are happy to have a new skilled mechanic in our new home. Highly recommend him.

Today was the first time I used Rick’s service. He did a 7500 mile service. First thing I noticed is Rick runs the whole show by himself. Answering the phone, keeping the entire shop clean and tighty. The bathroom, waiting area all clean stocked.I arrived early and there he was ready for me! Such a pleasure to deal with Rick. i live in Newport and have for many years. Rick the owner is the most honest mechanic you will find in the state of Oregon. he is a one man shop, and i took it to him after going to Les Schwab in Newport about two weeks ago. Les Schwab said they could not find what was wrong. Les Schwab even left two lug nuts off a tire and put me in danger. Rick was very busy but took the time to diagnose my Toyota SUV free of charge and within less than one hour fixed what was wrong and only charged me $40.00, no parts were needed. if you need your auto fixed it is worth waiting to see him, as his honesty, credibility and prices cannot be beat. i have never seen any one work as fast as Rick. i will never take my SUV any where else.
