This store is horrendously under staffed. I literally just went there for a gallon of milk 2 checkers with shoppers lined down the aisles.
I went to the express 10 items or less and she told me she couldn’t help me because she’s only allowed to check out elderly guests. This store is the absolute worst Safeway of them all.

WORST whole roasted chicken I have ever had... I'm sick to my stomach that I spent TEN DOLLARS on this tiny, dry, flavorless chicken. It as small as a cornish game hen but was like eating shoe leather. I usually only buy whole roasted chickens at Costco because they are juicy, flavorful and huge, for half the price of this nasty piece of shoe leather. I was talked into it by the deli counter worker because it was "allegedly" mango habanero. There was no hint of mango habanero or any other seasoning - it was utterly flavorless and dry as cardboard. I regularly buy mango habanero chicken at my Safeway in Arizona, so I know what it's supposed to taste like. This is theft, do NOT buy these nasty, overpriced roasted chickens.

Pretty disappointing experience @ Safeway in Newport, OR. This store was a ghost town with a lone employee and maybe one or two other customers. It was on the smaller side of Safeway stores, but clean and organized throughout. We stopped here on Sunday afternoon, St. Patrick's Day to get a sweet treat. The bakery section was underwhelming to say the least. They only had 3 or 4 containers of sugar cookies with key lime icing, one container of pistachio pound cake slices, and one decent looking slice of a layered cake with the holiday theme and I was interested in the latter, BUT the top wasn't shut and securely sealed to the bottom. So yeah, no one wants that. The only employee present in the store eventually showed up to the only lit register for us to purchase what we settled for, which was a small container of assorted cookies and a pint of ice cream. On the plus side, the Safeway gentleman was a decent fellow and friendly enough.
