Old , small, stuffy room. King size bed was too firm. Needs upgrade. Paid 204.$ night for view of ocean. There were stairs to the beach.

There was a sewer smell the whole time i stayed here. Staff was fine but the whole lobby smelled of cigarettes. Pool was closed for repair that looked like they will never reopen. The hotel is just old. Everything is worn down. Rusty fridge, not a little but a lot. Couldn’t even bother to upgrade a thing. Access stairs to the beach were rough and there was 2x4 that was at the bottom so you wouldnt step in filth. Way overpriced and not a 3 star hotel by a mile.

Not good. Property is up for sale, which they only told us after we stayed. Many many issues with the rooms

We absolutely love this hotel. Every room has an unobstructed view of the ocean. We have our favorite room. The front staff are very accommodative. The room is fresh and clean. The bed is perfect, not too hard, and not too soft. The only thing that isn't great, but is no way a deal breaker, is the tv doesn't show program info.

I chose Shiloh because they advertised a pool and room service, the two things a mom traveling with two kids finds the most appealing. Upon check-in found neither was actually available, and they charged the entire amount for the rooms when it was booked so there's no option for me to cancel and take us somewhere else tonight. The toilet is leaking. The room is stuffy with a tiny window to open for fresh air.

Pros - good view!
Cons - sticky toy stuck to our ceiling, all the walls in the pool and throughout the building have paint and wood chipping along with rust , I felt like the building would eventually collapse on us .
Truck almost didn’t fit in the garage, had to park underground because they have little to no parking.
Took the kids to a pool and had to walk in the freezing weather because the only pool open was across the way in the other building. You have to ask for a towel at the desk because they don’t keep them near the pool! Make sure to ask for a normal size towel because if not they will give you a face towel ! My 2yr old couldn’t even stay warm with the towel she gave us ! Had to ask her for a “real” towel!!!! To top this off we got food from the restaurant (To Go) and they automatically add 22% of a tip tot he bill !! I had already left a tip on for the waiter guy without realizing they do this so he got almost half of what my food cost just in tips! Without even serving us. packaged the food to go in a HUGE brown box that made the food slide everywhere and make a mess , looked like someone’s left overs ! Will never stay here again unless we absolutely had too !

Yes the rooms are outdated but so is all of Newport. It is a throwback to a time before USB plugs. Bring your wall adapters. The views are spectacular and the rooms are roomy. We cycled the coast last year and this was the kind of place we liked where we could easily bring our gear and bikes in the room and still walk around. Plenty of great restaurants are walkable like La Maison and Pacific Kitchen. We took the Presidential suite for Thanksgiving with 5 people. It was larger than my daughter’s apartment. Had a full kitchen and birds perching on the railing. Just pleasant. Like going to grandmas house years ago. The pool is closed for winter and I doubt the restaurant is open but that is not what you come here for. Go walk on the beach and explore the local fare. You don’t need to be offended by mistakes and eat at McDonalds like some other reviewers.

New been here but 3 stars is rough, youch! I’m just writing this because these guys decide to advertise there rooms Under the house tag on websites like air bnb and vrbo. Already annoying to sift through just for 4-8 instances of there hotel rooms under the HOUSE tag your clearly not a house and should remove that tag. It’s annoying your annoying for doing it and are quite likely a very slimy person

It's really sad to see what's happening to this place, used to be an affordable place right on the beach a great view. Well the restaurant has closed, the pool is closed, the place isn't being maintained. You can tell the employees are doing their best to keep the place going (it's very clean for being run down), but the cracks are showing. Leaks in the roof, stains on the carpet, doors don't latch, it's just sad to see. Talking to an employee I found out it's currently for sale, I'm guessing it doesn't have long before it's shut down when a new company buys it and remodels it and jacks up the prices.
