I think I have an Aunt who used to work here. Lizzy Duyck? Or of a different last name? If so, is Montana still here?

I thought this would be an oasis for my horse, but it certainly wasn't. The trails are beautiful, and were the primary reason I chose to move my horse here. The women who board their horses here are all lovely. And that's about the only good thing I can say about Sky Ranch Stables.I noticed my horse losing weight almost immediately. (He was at a very healthy weight when we arrived.) I figured it probably had to do with being out, getting more exercise, and having to share hay with horses instead of having his own in a turnout and in his stall at night. At my request, the owner said he would put alfalfa in my horse's stall to eat while he was in for his grain each day. Three weeks after we arrived, I saddled him for the first time. I was alarmed at how much weight he had lost. His ribs and hip bones were prominent. My horse has never been underweight and has always been an easy keeper.Forty one days after we came to Sky Ranch, I had a vet out to see him for his annual exam and ACTH testing. She told me my horse was at least 100 pounds underweight. She gave him a body condition score of 4.5 out of 9 (0 is emaciated, 9 is too overweight; a 6 is good, she said). This means MY HORSE LOST AT LEAST 100 POUNDS WITHIN 41 DAYS OF BEING AT SKY RANCH. That is alarming. When I told the person who is in charge of giving grain every day what the vet recommended for helping him to put on weight, he told me he didn't "have time for all that." By this point, there had already been ongoing issues with my horse not getting his daily medication and/or grain for multiple days in a row. Who knows if he got alfalfa daily like he was supposed to. This continued to be an issue until the day before I left, and bringing it to the owner's attention did little to improve it. In fact, it made me feel like they only resented me and my horse more than they already did.I moved my horse back to his old barn 13 days after that vet visit. It was crystal clear in the weeks before I was able to arrange to have him moved that my horse was not going to put on weight, and that these people didn't really care one way or another if he did. It was clear that he may or may not get his daily medication and grain. It was clear that these people had no business being in charge of the welfare and care of my horse. If you have a horse who can be thrown out to pasture, is dominant and will chase other horses off the hay in order to get enough to eat, doesn't need medication or any other special considerations, then Sky Ranch could be just fine for your horse. Or if you can come out every day and make sure your horse is getting what it needs, it might work for you. But if not, I can guarantee you that if your horse requires anything beyond tossing him hay, it's a crap shoot whether or not he'll get it.Beyond the neglect of my horse, the owner will lie about pretty much anything. He blatantly lied to me about several things. He'll tell you he did something, and he didn't. He'll double down on his lie until it becomes clear that he knows you know he's lying, and then he'll tell you that maybe it's time for you to find another place to board your horse. He also goes out of town and out of state without telling boarders. He went out of state a few weeks after I arrived and I had no idea. There was an issue with my horse not getting his medication during that time and I had no idea where he was or who I should get a hold of until I ran into someone on the property who told me.Sadly, I cannot recommend this property as a safe, healthy, trustworthy place for a horse to live.

I visited the sky ranch today for a 2 hour ride with Jon and his Tennessee Walker horse Arnold. I had a great time and learned a few new things about riding . Jon is a great host and I recommend the experience.

I grew up with a love for horses, sketching them, writing my own little 5th grade story book about them, and dreaming about one day living on a horse ranch.Dreams DO come true!!Last August I was invited to lease the yellow house and I moved up to Sky Ranch Stables, along with my 3 dogs, 2 of them being rescued and special needs. My priority in life is to care for these previously abused dogs, so their safety and comfort is of utmost importance, here on the ranch they are safe and loved by everyone. And, with almost 200 acres out the back door, plenty of trails to explore!Back to the horses and the ranch!A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.Every morning I wake to gorgeous sunrises over Mt. Hood, and to the mares grazing in the pasture right outside my back yard, I then look over to see the geldings stretching their legs and running and playing in their pastures. For horses to have this much space, open skies, and green areas to graze and play, it's pretty darn special!Their safety and security is of utmost importance as well, all new modern fencing was installed along all the roadways in the summer of 2017, very striking and modern! You can set a watch to the schedule of the grasses or hay being taken to the pastures for the horses to eat during the day, and in the short winter months, their turn outs and ins to the barns and their warm, cozy stalls.Stalls are cleaned daily for those that pay full care boarding, and there are always the part care boarders coming and going daily to care for their own horses and stalls.Set at almost 1400' feet up on Skyline Ridge. the ranch is peaceful, fabulous views, fresh air, the most amazing cold, fresh and clear well water to drink, wild blackberries to pick in the summer, giant old growth trees to rest or hike under, trails meander for miles with ponds and an abundance of Native Oregon plants and wildlife.Improvements and maintenance are always under way at the Ranch, old buildings being removed, barns being updated, automated sprinkler system for the indoor arena, an outdoor horse ring put in place. I'm always excited to see what the next fun project is.There is even a super sweet Air B-n-B over the owners house!! Great rates for a super peaceful and beautiful ranch to visit.Sky Ranch Stables is allowing horses to be horses, and these horses absolutely love it up here!

We have had our mare here for over 2 years now and she couldn’t be happier. We of course are just as happy. John and Lisa are amazing owners and are always informative with things going on at the barn. We actually drive past other barns that are closer for Sky Ranch because of the amazing atmosphere. The horses are fed multiple times a day and stalled at night during the cooler months. You can always tell our girl is happy and enjoys spending the nicer months turned out with the other mares. The property is amazing with endless trails and is very well maintained with constantly improving upgrades! The family feel keeps us coming back and you may even get to enjoy a few summer cookouts on the property!

Great huge arena and clean barn. Jon and Lisa have done a superb job of maintaining the property and taking care of the horses. Plenty of pasture to turn out horses. And there's tons of trails through the wooded areas (even a scenic creek!). You'll be happy you boarded your horse here.

We boarded our horse William with Lisa and Jon. It is a beautiful place and a completely natural setting for him with a nice big barn and box stalls. The trails are so peaceful and beautiful and go for miles. We would still be there if we did not have our own little barn now. We are up there all the time to visit.

This is a really nice barn with great trail access and where the horses get great turnout! You really can't beat how much space they have to roam. One of the best things about it, however, is that I can relax, knowing that my horses are taken care of and that they are enjoying themselves. My horse got a small cut under his eye and the owners notified me and took care of it for me. They cleaned it up and monitored it until it healed.

I went to visit a friend who lives at Sky Ranch Stables and it was like I was in heaven. I grew up around horses, but it was nowhere close to Sky Ranch. The property is breathtaking, and if you are a photographer you can take absolutely beautiful photos. The horses were very friendly and loved all the attention. I hated to leave.
