I have an older 440c. Just can't say enough about this knife. Best pocket knife I've ever owned. I inherited it and did some research and found I could join the Benchmade Life Sharp program with no strings attached. After applying for the program online, I sent it in with a couple of condition comments. About 3 weeks later, I received it back. It looks like new! Very sharp, clean and oiled. Already dialing in my next knife purchase and it for sure will be Benchmade. The problem is, if it's really a problem, there's so many styles to choose from but the website helps with that too. Thanks!

if I was a company, and I was selling COUNTERFIT knives, then SUE ME, send me a letter to CEASE and DESIST letter to stop selling your knives, but If i am an end consumer, how do you keep a customers property, even if COUNTERFIT, when I bought my knife from a local store i bought in good faith they were presumptively genuine, and for BENCHMADE to basically steal my property seems soooo illegal.
Benchmade gains nothing by keeping my property
EVEN if they offer a boucher, a decent knive from this company is 4 times as much as the coupone they give you

I purchases a 3 piece Chef knife set this past December as a Christmas gift to myself. I set the pick up as will call. I chose a custom handle, finish, and steel. My mother was hospitalized because of a blood clot as a complication of her MS so I left the state for several months. In February I asked then to ship the knives to me as I wasn't sure how much longer I'd be out of state caring for my mother. Upon receiving the knives I had noticed the finish was incorrect and it had a laser mark. Initially I had purchases a laser mark but 2 hours after purchase I contacted customer service and asked them to remove the mark from the order. As the blade wasn't in production they said this was fine and assured me the laser mark would not be there. Flash forward 3 more months and ive returned home to Oregon and I bring the knives in, in person, to the store location and explain the issue. The manager there recognized me from several months prior and verifies my story via customer service emails and call records then says she will put the knives in for a complimentary blade replacement. This sounds good to me so I agree and drop off the knives. There are some internal issues going in in Benchmade currently as they told me their manufacturing department was low on staff... they told me this again the next week, and the week after that, and the week after that as well. A month went by since I dropped off the knives and I call the store for I would guess the 7th or 8th time that month and they finally says the knives are ready for my will call pick up... I specifically chose "will call" because I suspected they would mess the knife up again and give me something incorrect... I was not surprised when I arrived and opened the box and the first thing I motoced was the blades didn't have a Polish finish as paid and purchased. This marks my 4th 5 hour round trip to this physical location and at this point I'm kinda fed up. I inform them to contact customer service, place a ticket for a refund for the extra I paid for polish vs the stonewash that I received and left..... I used to love benchnade but after thus experience I feel you've lost a customer. Too much incompetence for my liking.

Edit: If I could leave a 10 star review I would, not only was my initial interaction below in the store amazing but after purchase I ended up contacting customer service and they were amazing. They have gone above and beyond for me not once but twice now.
Original: Anyone who can deal with me being indecisive for an hour over two colors and still be endlessly patient, polite, and helpful deserves a 5 star review. Only two people working the factory store but they did a really good job of making sure every customer was acknowledged and assisted and ringing folks up efficiently.

Benchmade knives are worth every penny of their cost! I love my pocket knife so when it needed a good cleaning and sharpening I went to the Benchmade, com web site. They offer free, lifetime sharpening. Just fill out the form on-line, get the reference number and ship it in for a complete cleaning and a factory sharpening blade treatment. Great communication and tracking info for the return shipment.
Great customer service!

I have a shootout auto that I carry daily. Rarely use it. Seems to be fragile and not up to many tasks but maybe opening letters. Cut a tiny zip tie with it, after, would not close. Blade was loose and would not engage, needed to be sent in under warranty. Took to shop I purchased it from, Backcountry North in Traverse City. Great people there, very helpful. They sent it in for me. It’s been there three weeks already. Have not heard a word. I doubt I’d buy another. Seems unreliable and a pain to get it repaired.

Great knife, great customer service, a little pricey but you own one you will know it’s worth it.

I had the incredible experience getting to know Les De Asis, the founder of Benchmade knife Company several years back and have a video of him explaining and showcasing the titanium billet machine, prototype knife that I won at a silent auction. Les shared with me the intricate details of the blade that I still cherish and hold onto and use daily! Excellent workmanship and his own words, the knife closes like a handkerchief, but is as sturdy as a bank vault!

Recently purchased a $260 and a $310 knife and the quality of the sheath design for both are not good. The sheath material is okay but the overall design is uninspired and lacks vision on how someone might want to use it. One sheath didn't come with a belt clip or chord and is nearly impossible to sheath unless you find the PERFECT angle. If you don't seat the blade properly it's a huge hazard as it could easily fall out, and it's very easy to THINK you sheathed the blade without it actually being sheathed. The other sheath appears to be manufactured to fail after very little use (screws on sheath BARELY make it into the nut), forcing you to purchase different screws, a custom aftermarket sheath, or a replacement from benchmade once the screws inevitably come undone or something. And if you don't notice the screws are short you could lose your knife out in the field. The sheath that did come with a belt clip can only be attached vertically and has some other attachment on it that is impossible to unscrew due to the round nuts and overtightening of the screws which makes it much more difficult to attach horizontally with chord. Like I said, the designs are uninspired.
I left a poor review for each product on their website but of course they didn't display them on the website, even after I verified the reviews via email. This is incredibly dishonest, and if you filter their product reviews on their website by "lowest first" you will see that they are all still 5 stars which is concerning as a consumer spending that kind of money on something used in survival situations...
I'm returning both of the knives and I won't be doing business with this company due to both products failing to meet the quality set by the price point. The dishonesty related to their website's product reviews makes this seem like I got scammed.. If they don't show poor reviews the existing reviews could be completely fake for all I know, so I can only assume the knives also have issues that I won't hear about, but experience when I might actually need them. And how horrible it would be to put my life in the hands of people who don't take that seriously and are dishonest to gain that trust.
Massive failure imho, and I hope they switch tactics because excitement turned to disappointment way too quickly. The knives seem very high quality, I really don't see why they would overlook the sheaths to this degree. It's like a car salesman selling a really nice looking car and then you find out the tires aren't included.

The best knife I own hands down. I lost it on Christmas day in the snow and it’s been outside buried in snow and rained on for five days shy of five months. All it took was a cleaning patch, gun oil, and a pipe cleaner and it’s as if I never lost it. There is no rust on it either which is the most surprising yet welcomed part after being buried in snow and rained on for so long.
