Disappointed After Years of Loyalty
I’ve been a loyal customer of the Philomath Chevron for decades — ever since it was owned by the late Denny Nusbaum — and I’ve never had an issue with anyone who worked there… until now.
I live in Philomath and buy my gas exclusively at Chevron, so this has always been my go-to station. A few months ago, my wife bought a couple cartons of cigarettes from this location. They didn’t come in a sealed carton, and as we were leaving, she realized several of the packs were the wrong type — an honest mistake, as the varieties look similar. We immediately circled the block and went back to correct the issue.
Instead of a simple exchange, the employee Sherry became defensive and insisted my wife had received what she asked for — essentially suggesting she knew my wife’s brand better than my wife did. To her credit, my wife stayed calm, asked for a call when the correct type came in, and even offered to pay the difference if they cost more. Turns out, the correct ones were cheaper, and she received a refund. But it was an unnecessarily unpleasant experience — one that was made worse by how Sherry handled it.
Strike two came when I stopped in with a manufacturer coupon and Sherry, again, was unnecessarily rude, saying “We don’t accept coupons,” with zero courtesy or professionalism. I said “Okay” and left without incident.
The final straw was just a couple days ago. I pulled in for gas, and Sherry opened my gas cover. I politely said, “Thanks, I got this. I’m using my phone to pay.” She told me I had to come into the booth, which made no sense — I use my phone to pay here all the time. When I told her I knew what I was doing, she snapped back telling me not to be rude — which, to be clear, I wasn’t.
I went inside to speak to a manager. The man working — who has always been kind and helpful — seemed visibly uncomfortable when I brought up Sherry’s behavior. I left my name and number, but of course, no one followed up.
It’s unfortunate. No one fueling up their vehicle should have to deal with unnecessary attitude or hostility — especially regular customers who are polite and respectful. I’m very recognizable and visit frequently, so this treatment was especially disappointing.
So goodbye, Philomath Chevron. From now on, I’ll take my business to the Chevron on HWY 34.

1:55pm today, I pull in to get gas and a couple cans of chew. I have a $50 bill, and I tell them that I need $20 in gas and two cans of chew. They tell me they can't break my $50 bill and to go somewhere else. Is this what customer service looks like in Philomath these days? I tried to explain to the person behind the till, that there wasn't going to be much change to give, but she couldn't put two and two together to have an intelligent conversation to figure out that this was going to work out.

Definitely ranks as one of the worst gas stations on the planet, There is no customer service at all, they just stand around ignoring everyone. The short chunky brown kid with the Brice name tag is almost completely worthless.

Got one young guy at fuel station that is the laziest person and almost refuses to work or get out of the box and pump any gas! Not even come over after us sitting there for five minutes and see if needed help with anything and we were they only car there. Need to get new people that want to work and do their job

We stopped by for diesel and propane. Pulled in no cars in the parking lot. My husband said he would pump his diesel why the guy got us propane. He proceeded to tell us that diesel is pump your own and then stated he would get to the propane when he could. It’s like OK no cars here but ok. He stood in his little cubicle outside doing nothing!!! I went in to use the bathroom and on my way in I asked if I could pay for the propane inside. He very rudely said like I told your husband I will get to it when I can I said why are you being so rude!!! he never got the propane. We left. Owner needs to know he is loosing customers.

They will only fill propane when there are no customers at any of the pumps. Straight up retarded.

Gas attendant would not sell me propane becase he was working by himself. Litterly no cars at all there. He kept saying "i have to work all 12 pumps myself " but zero customers there. I will go elsewherefrom now on.

Wow. Ignored by 3 workers, ended up having to pump our own gas.

Never actually open at 5am and always closed 30 minutes before the closing time.

Don't buy products here, they do not list prices purposely so that you pick up a regular sized candy bar or soda and it's nearly or more than double the price. Gas is up, and prices are sky high but the worst part is that the owner does it on purpose. Thinking a call to BBB is coming next.

Clean, very friendly, good vibe when I walked in the store. Left smiling on a gloomy day.

Low tire pressure light came on, so pulled into Chevron to add air. Had trouble with the air machine and an attendant (sorry didn't get his name) came over to help. We realized there was a leak in the tire and he got out his phone to look up the hours for Beggs and directed me there. This young man was awesome and a credit to Chevron. A big thank you to him. Will be stopping there for gas in the future.

Avoid at all costs. They do not give back accurate change and when you point it out they argue/deny before walking away entirely.
