45 East is Portland’s top spot for electronic music, blending underground roots with modern technology. The venue features exposed brick and industrial fittings that pay homage to its history, while state-of-the-art sound systems, LED walls, lasers, and Co2 cannons create a vibrant club atmosphere. The spacious dance floor ensures crisp sound from every angle, making it ideal for dance music fans. The VIP area offers a great view of the stage and additional space, with attentive VIP servers providing excellent hospitality. The club has a small main space, which can get crowded, especially during popular events. When crowded, a second-floor balcony is available for a breather. The venue attracts a younger crowd and is known for hosting EDM shows, with local artists like Ray Volpe and Nero performing. Prices for drinks are reasonable, and free water is provided during shows, although some wish the bass was heavier. The sound system is loud enough, but some feel it could benefit from better bass. Customer experiences highlight friendly staff, especially during concerts, although some reviews mention issues like overbooking and crowding. There are concerns about the heat in the venue during summer events, which can become uncomfortably hot, affecting guests’ experience. Some also wish for better availability of drink covers and improved bartender training on safety. Overall, 45 East is a lively, underground-inspired venue that offers a great electronic music experience in Portland, with ongoing efforts to improve comfort and service.
No frills club for dance music in the inner east side. Main space is fairly small, second floor available when the press of humans becomes too much. Saw Elijah Wood though and that was pretty silly and tight.
