Don't walk in with a beanie on or they are going to profile you and literally follow you around and talk about you like you are a doing something you are not when somebody is probably literally stealing that they aren't paying attention to. Place is filled with Karen's I would avoid it if possible I was just trying to take my lunch for work and it ruined my mood completely.. love being gaslit by sad miserable people ???

This is my favorite local grocery store! That is with the exception of the deli. I buy their deli sandwiches quite often and am so disappointed in how terrible their bread is. The Safeway on TV HWY uses a premium level bread and the sandwiches are clearly made fresh and taste AWESOME! West union Safeway tastes like they're using week old bread with leftover unsold dry deli meat, and the single packet of mayo does not fix this problem. Not even on the same level, has to drop this store a star simply because I started buying from the TV hwy location and was so blown away by how consistent and well made they are in comparison. C'mon west union Safeway, stop trying to sell leftovers, your pal breaks is blowing you out of the water with quality. Don't believe me? Go try it!

Today, I was carded for hop water and turned away for no ID. You can buy kombucha, which has alcohol in it without showing ID, though. Hop water is not regulated by the OLCC and should not be age restricted. It's the same as me buying a flavored sparkling water. I feel discriminated against as I am in my 40s and zero help from Carmen regarding this matter. My husband just told me the other day he no longer gets carded for ALCOHOL when he goes in even though the computer obviously prompts for ID. I find this to be a big problem and very disturbing as I consider this discrimination. It's sad that I have been coming here for 12 years, 2 blocks from my house, and have never been treated this way. I have dealt with hundreds of employees from this store who have come and gone and never felt like this from any of them. It was extremely embarrassing with zero empathy from the manager Carmen, who was very unpleasant and did not care about me whatsoever.

Close to home and good for convenience food and fruits etc. Affordable prices. I usually find the things I look for here which is great. Meat prices have gone up significantly over the last 3 to 4 months, which is disappointing.Store is getting new flooring these days. I wish the money would be spent on bringing the prices down.

When did you switch to Safeway? Came back after being away. Easy to find parking great selection, still rough getting help down aisles often. Everyone forgets all over the state places are still having troubles hiring.

GARBAGE! I always ask myself WHY am I shopping here, since the experience from start to finish is 9 times out of 10, TRASH. The lady who wears way too much makeup has the STINKIEST attitude. She can't be bothered to help anyone and walks around seeing people needing help and will literally go to someone who has been waiting for .2 seconds vs someone who has been waiting 15 mins. She also reset a machine before she came to help a human being. Again, GARBAGE! The other employees while nice, move like freaking SLOTHS. They are always low on stock, the store looks crusty and dated. Self checkout always has problems, it takes FOREVER to get anyone to reset the system. Their register doesn't automatically apply discounted prices so you have to watch the scanner like a hawk (ex: chicken was on sale from $12 to $4 but was charged the full price). What should have been a quick stop to pick up a few things turned into a 45 minute excursion, 30 minutes of that was just trying to check out!! All in all, I dread shopping here. I wish they would demolish this store and replace it with a Market of Choice or Whole Foods. *end rant*

Nice place. Ample selection, expect to wait at checkout. Good little deli and meat departments.

It's quite costly but there is a wide range of products there. There is also a Starbucks located inside, which is convenient.

Decent local store. Well kept. sales associates and employees are somewhat standoffish. Not very friendly in other words, but to be expected being Portland.

Check your Odwalla/Naked juice they always have expired ones sitting in the fridge in the front of each row they're trying to pawn off to some poor unsuspecting customer. Pretty much every time I get one I have to reach 3-4 bottles back. The expired ones smell awful and will make you sick.Sometimes I call this location Boris's Sons because it might as well be a Soviet Russian store they can never keep anything in stock -- items Safeway down the road or QFC doesn't seem to ever have trouble keeping on the shelves.

Never enough staff every time I come in which has been years now. Why am I reviewing now? I’ve been in line for 5 minutes. Might as well do something useful.

I only come here when forced by convenience. The management here is very rude. I've had several experiences with them but the one that sticks out the most is from Christmas Eve when I had got home from an exhausting and stressful period of travel as we know those can be. I got home 2 days after planned and had no food in my house. We had just enough time to stop by this store on the way home as they closed at 7pm and I arrived just after 6. I wasn't that person who walks in 5 mins before close but the manager was clearly pissed to be working on Xmas eve. At about 6:25 when I was mostly done with my shopping (I only had a few things that would take about 5 mins to check out) she came up to me to advise me they would be closing soon so please bring my items up to check out. I said ok and continued down the next few aisles to complete my shopping. She told another couple down the next aisle and once again came up to me with a scowl on her face - 30 mins before close. She then patronizingly repeated that they were closing soon as if she expected me to hop to and cut my shopping short and when I said I just had a couple more things on my list like milk she said "some of us would like to enjoy our holiday, too," so condescending like I'm a huge a****** for being there 30 mins before close. She then yelled at and chased a man who walked in right after that and yelled at her employee to lock the doors (again 25 min before close). If you are open until 7 then stay open until then - the shift should end at 7:30 to allot for closing tills etc. if you want to be out by 7 then post your hours are until 6:30. This is not how retail should work even on Xmas eve. In general this woman is rude as hell. Fire her.

Me and my man went to the Albertsons to get the last minute Thanksgiving shopping and we ended up stocking up on the Squirt, because it was on sale! ?
