Friendly and hardworking professionals here, I feel like they’re efficient but also put effort into making you feel comfortable as nurses do.

A good friend of mine has been thinking about donating so I dragged him along to see the process before him trying. I suppose i chose the absolute worst location to do so because when we left he told me he will never be donating blood because they simply do not value your time.We showed up 5 minutes late to a scheduled appointment due to traffic. We were told it would be no issue and checked in. Cut to an hr later I am finally being brought back to give blood and low and behold the woman next to me gets in and out easily but I alas do not because I was randomly chosen to be a demonstration to teach a newb staff member the process. 2 thoughts on that: why in gods name would you choose someone whod been waiting an hr to do a slow demonstration on? Why not someone you actually checked in and got to easily? Or how about asking if I feel comfortable being a Guinea pig today? And second why are we teaching someone to jab needles in those giving donation when they do not even know how to take someone's blood pressure properly????So after an hr and a half I finally am done giving blood and the machine is beeping telling staff I am done. But my student/ teacher are MIA instead a sweet tall woman had to rush over from closing up bags from a prior donation too unhook me because the ones who set me up were out of the room completely and those left in the room were finishing up with others. So through all of this my good friend watched as my time was wasted and I wasn't treated well while being curious if he should donate at all. When we got to the car he told me he'd never waste his time doing a good deed like that to be treated with such little respect.I take giving blood seriously and see it as a very important thing we all should be doing but it's hard to justify doing when you are treated so poorly.

I did my Power Red donation at this location. Everything went great and smoothly. The staff was polite, friendly, and professional. It has both plasma/platelets and whole blood donations. I scheduled my appointment and completed the RapidPass online to save time. I encourage people to donate blood to help lives. You will always make an impact on someone’s live

I’ve donated successfully in the past, but in the last year or so this location has been a disaster. It’s seriously understaffed and slow. Twice recently I’ve waited an hour for a scheduled appointment, before giving up and leaving because I can see how much longer I’ll have to wait. Today I noticed only one person called in 30 minutes. I try hard to donate regularly, I think it’s really important, but this place does not value donor’s time.

Always a good experience. Helping to save lives, being treated with kindness and respect, free treats after donating. What's not to like?

They took my blood and gave it to one of my neighbors who needed it. Also, free OJ.

My first visit to donate platelets ended without donating after I was stuck twice with no success. I made another appointment to try again and after having my veins looked over by a seemingly over-confident and condescending individual I was told that I would be removed from their list as my veins were no good. I am a nurse who has worked for over 45 years in the operating room where we start many IVs and I’m here to tell you that my veins are absolutely fine. I have had multiple surgeries and have never had to be stuck more than once to start an IV. I asked why I wasn’t told the first time that I wasn’t a good candidate for platelet donation, as my drive to get to the center is long, and was told that some of the other personnel just aren’t as good as he is at spotting bad veins!!! Way to support your co-workers, dude!!! This experience made me reluctant to donate in the future, but did some “self talk” and decided that just because of one individual I would not let myself give up on a good thing. Hope you don’t get “this guy”!

The Red Cross offers the worst first aid/CPR classes. These are the most pretentious and unlikable group of people on the planet. If for example, you were to take repeat CPR classes like I did to maintain a healthcare license, they would make you buy their book every four years. This is the book that we do not open, look at, or read the entire class, but yet it's mandatory. There's no indication when you first buy the book that it will be updated on a regular basis, so you might keep that book for the next class that you know you'll have to take in two more years. And when you get to class, there will be no information sent you about what you need to bring to this class, but once you get there you will need to show your previous CPR certificate to get into class or they won't let you in. Then you have to purchase their new book, because supposedly they update the material every four years. And yet the videos have not changed in four years. The maneuvers, have not changed in four years. But the mandatory textbook has apparently been updated with crucial information. But that is not all! If you don't do their silly little homework before the class, they won't let you in even though you already paid. Even though you took that exact same class two years before! And two years before that! Even though they offer a break in that class in which the home work could easily be completed. But no! Because their class literally saves lives, they take on all that heroism as if all the lives ever saved by that class in it's entire history of operation are directly because of that individual teacher. The teachers have absolutely no compassion for their individual students however, and will completely dismiss the fact that people have very busy lives or physical limitations that prevent them from doing some of the maneuvers, or out of class work that should not be out of class in the first place.

I don't mind this donation center. It sure beats doing a blood drive on-board a bus any day. As for scheduling a blood draw or platelet donation, your best option is to register online and schedule. But once you do, expect to start receiving the constant texts and calls from unknown numbers lol. After all these years, Red Cross still has not updated their systems. I think experienced donors know how I feel. But onto the subject of this place:~ Its a fairly big facility with an open quad area. Blood donations in the front. Blood platelets and plasma in the back, in an enclosed glass section. ~ What's also great about this place is the staff. I've always ran into the elderly ladies at check-in that are smiling and helpful. The technicians I've ran into have ranged from normal yet talkative, to near-zombie-like and anti- social. ~ The preparation area and equipment used for platelet/plasma donation is quite clean. I've seen technicians wipe things down, and bring in new sealed kits. Its definitely different when donating platelets. Overall, this location does an excellent job in getting donors set up and checked-in properly. The bed, or gurney, used are clean as is the equipment. I'll likely return six months from now for another donation. But I bet I'll receive over 20-30 calls/text from RC before then.

I used to donate blood all the time in NYC. I would be in and out the door in 30 minutes (I gush). Been here twice and each time it took 90 minutes. That really isn't much of an incentive to donate any more. Staff was, however, really nice and friendly.

Blood Donations (Whole, Platelets, Plasma), Volunteer Opportunity, and Training Site for CPR/First Aid/AED and BLS cladd8. I can rely on their friendly professional service every visit. Appointments and walk-ins welcome for donations. Consider them first as a way to get involved in our community, you want be disappointed!! Giving is an action word, give blood, money, and time because your gift saves lives.

Hour long wait for a 5 minute donation (yes I had an appointment). Saw staff repeatedly use the same gloves for 2 donors at once (during Covid). Staff did not wear name tags (too many complaints?).Do not recommend this location.

I lwas away when I lost everything to a fire, 9/30/20. I discovered the disaster a day later. No immediate neighbor informed the Portland fire department (did they ask?!?) who's property was destroyed...MINE. The red cross requires an agency, such as Portland fire, to VERIFY I am Joel and its Joel's property lost. As a result, the red cross won't help me at all. Neighbors now will VERIFY me but the red cross is STRONG ON BYZANTINE BUREAUCRATIC PROCEDURES ;and a NO-SHOW FOR PERSON LEVEL HELP.BOOOOOOOO. HISSSSSSSSSS.:
