Lived here for a year and it was the worst living experience I’ve had. I only moved in because they had move-in deals and I was in a pinch. Payed $1250 for a cheaply made 250 sq ft studio with no kitchen. The whole building always smells bad, the hallway carpets and the stairs are always filthy, every weekend there’s a really annoying ringing in the lobby (some security system alarm or something?) but since it’s the weekend, there’s no management around to turn it off. The shared kitchens seem like a cool idea until you’ve prepped your whole meal only to find someone already using it, and there’s a grill on the patio but it doesn’t work. The laundry rooms were a nightmare - they’re always a mess and the machines make your clothes smell bad, and you can’t use cash/change or a card for the machines, you have to use an app - but your phone doesn’t get service in there, so it can take a while to get your laundry started. If you live on the second floor, you have to push the doors to the patio shut or they pop open and the whole floor gets freezing cold, and the doors in the units aren’t sealed at the bottom so your apartment gets really cold too. When I moved out I was told to leave the apartment in broom-swept condition and that the cleaning fee should only be about $100 out of my deposit - so I swept, wiped a few things down and called it good and they charged me $300 - so beware, “broom-swept” is actually landlord for “deep clean.” The location is cool, the chicken place downstairs is really good. Also there are a few 5 star reviews from 5-6 months before this from when they put up signs saying they’ll give Amazon gift cards to whoever gives them a 5 star review!

got some fees waived but one noise fee from stereo too loud around noon. dead trees on the atrium level from neglect. cleaning crew will take your coffee machine if it’s tuesday. great for cyclists.

If I could give this building zero stars I would. Take this as a warning , aside from the great location of this apartment I would run the other way. Paying almost $1400 for a studio (glorified dorm room with no kitchen) that’s less than 300 sq foot. I had to move from unit to unit because my window didn’t shut, the process of switching units took months and I ended up paying more for my new Unit which I thought was fine at the time because I was sick of having a freezing apartment with sky high electricity bill because of a broken window. These units are just cheaply made, within a month of being in my new unit the closet door came off the tracks and I am scared to call maintenance because the last time I had to file a complaint the maintenance man let himself into my locked apartment (no appointment, no notice) while I was getting into the shower. So keep in mind if u file a maintenance request and you have a dog or another reason why you wouldn’t want a random person in your home with no warning- the space on the form with consent to enter while you’re not home will be ignored!!! I even wrote a little note about how my dog doesn’t like uninvited guests and that it was necessary for me to be home. The laundry rooms smell like mildew and half the time there’s literal garbage and dirt/dog hair thrown around and stuck to the walls and other surfaces. The Garbage shoot barely works and then when u go to take it into the trash room it’s piled almost floor to ceiling with garbage and gross spills all over the ground. The community style kitchen is as bad as it sounds, people are gross and don’t clean after themselves. Counters are filled with other peoples belongings. Keep in mind this is a “community space” so property management as right to move or dispose of your items and they will! Hallway carpets, elevators and community outdoor spaces are soiled with dog waste .There’s also a non existent leasing office that’s always closed and we received 1 day notice before it was taken over by new property management who I have yet to see. Overall this space is way overpriced, cheaply built, and there’s always packages being stolen. Do not fall for the move in specials like I did !!! This is a trap and you will have a miserable experience - I would highly recommend looking elsewhere you could find something in a similar price range but much bigger!

I LOVE living here! This has been a real community for my dog Kenni & I, and I'm very appreciative. We have met GREAT neighbors & Mia has been the BEST addition to Ascend. She has been working so SUCCESSFULLY to right past mistakes of the previous management company, and has been a rock star in my opinion! Ascend offers safe living, wonderful neighbors, a beautiful community lifestyle & an amazing neighborhood to call our own. I wouldn't choose to live anywhere else. Thank you Ascend & Mia for caring about your tenants & providing such a wonderful living space for us!

I’ve been at ascend for over a year. Recently my lease went up just when the new management came in. I have to say that our new manager, Mia is really working hard to improve this building. I jump to her office the same day she started and told her I wanted to switch apartment and in a matter of a few days she had the ball rolling and got me into my new space. Since she’s been here there has been some very noticeable changes that I really appreciate. Very efficient units in a great location.

I have been renting apartments from other companies for over ten years and I have never felt the need to write a report till staying at Ascend. Please take your money and spend it on an apartment complex that values you and the money you’re spending. I have lost so much money staying here. Our rooms are small and we share a community kitchen and have lockers that we have to provide our personal locks. I had been told from day one that my mailbox # 210 so I had been storing my supplies in there for one year. I came home one day and my lock had been cut and $900 dollars worth of my items had been thrown away. Normal companies would send out an email to residents to claim their stuff or hold it for 7 days. They have not worked with me and made it apparent that I “need to figure it out myself”. They also send out emails saying if a trash chute is broken they will not dispose of trash but they’ll easily throw away and cut a resident’s lock. Save your money and go somewhere where they value you as a human.

Very disappointed in lack of security and how much theft/crime has affected my neighbors and myself in this building. I very much do not feel safe in this building. I normally do not give negative online ratings but feel it is important to share about my experience with this building to inform those looking for housing.

The living experience is fantastic. I lived there for around 9 months with my girlfriend. We loved the apartment because it is pretty convenient to take a bus as well as drive to another state. The staff is great. Shelby and Odessa helped me a lot, such as printing stuff with their printer. That is the most important reason that I gave the apartment five stars. Though the two ladies are not there any more, the later staff also made our ending lease smoothly. The utilities are also very new and easy to use. For example, the customer service of the washing machine responded quickly. Additionally, the public kitchen is not big, but the cleanliness is professional. I enjoy working in the public area because of the bright sunshine. Talking with people when they drop into the area is a good way to make friends.Overall, thanks to all for giving us the living experience.

The studio apartment I visited was adorable and space efficient, including a sleeping loft. The building seems clean and well built, but the overall maintenance is lacking, based on reports from the people who live here.
