Great vets, great people, inconsistent office management. I’ve had several occasions where business hours weren’t clear (arriving for appointment but the place was closed, voicemail that has t been updated).We’re happy with the care our pet receives and entrust his health to them. I’d just like a little more reassurance in communications and availability. Their chat feature is amazing - 24/7 access to skilled, compassionate vets. Our vet has been phenomenal in answering our questions and helping us care for our pet. I recommend Banfield.

In person experience with staff, vet was great! Phone interactions were friendly.If you get your pet medications from the clinic itself, you will likely not have the issues I have had.However, I have made countless phone calls to this clinic and my pharmacy trying to get a preventative medication refilled, or a new prescription sent for the medication. It has been 3 weeks and it still isn’t complete. I am at my wits end and am very frustrated. It should not be this difficult to have a preventative prescription filled.

For many years now it feels like a constant bait & switch. They’re nice. Courteous. Soft spoken. And will explain procedures & costs… but there’s always some “additional fees” they say aren’t covered by the payment/coverage plan when it comes time to pay. Just know the “coverage plan” you pay monthly for will absolutely NOT cover merely half of what the bill(s) indicate. This has been happening for over a decade. I absolutely loath the structure & shady unclear verbiage & billing practices of Banfield.

Banfield staff fails again & again & again & again. Time & time again. Year after year. They can’t communicate at a basic elementary level & they’ll have a front desk staff make calls that are suppose to be from a veterinarian & the staff will openly admit they’re not educated enough about medical questions to answer ANY of the questions you have. And if you ask to speak to a veterinarian they MIGHT have a vet call back… but it’ll be multiple days later when you get the call.On one occasion I dropped off the test specimen/sample the vet requested, with them saying, “we’ll call you in a few hours with results & instructions on what the next step is.” Then, 4 days later I get the call. All while my pet has been suffering & in pain for the past 4 days.On another occasion they say my pets meds will be ready in a few hours for pick up & I’ll get a call when my pets meds are ready. Two days later I get a call saying my pets meds are ready. I say “great how late are you open tonight?” They say “We just closed.” And I say, “So you had this information for 2 days… & you waited 2 full days before you called me to come pick up my pets meds, then when you do finally call me you say ‘you’re closed’ so I can’t come to pick them up until tomorrow? So now I have to take off work to come get my pets meds that were suppose to be ready for pick-up days ago.” And they just tell me to “send someone else to pick them up”. Like I’m going have the nerve to ask someone else to run my errands for me because the staff at Banfield was too incompetent.On another occasion they completely forgot to send half my pets post surgery meds home with me. I didn’t find this out until 8 days AFTER my pet had surgery & the front desk staff called me. When I had questions the staff said “You’ll need to speak with a doctor. But they’re gone for the day. Call another time.”Then there is the issue of constantly sneaking in “extra charges” not covered by the pet health plan I paid for all while admitting, “Yeah Banfield’s wording isn’t exactly clear in the contract you signed, but you already paid for the plan, so… sorry. We know it sucks. That’s just the way it is.”My my my… how convenient.Staff is very nice. Very courteous. Very soft spoken. Very calming. Very incompetent. And very poorly communicates with their customers. And we’ve had multiple friends have the same exact experiences. The name Banfield has become a punch-line at dinner parties now due to the reputation of being such a grossly incompetent place to take your pet for their care. Multiple people have told us to NEVER go to Banfield. We should have listened. If you’re reading this I hope you listen & save yourself & your pet a lot of grief by avoiding Banfield all together.

While the staff is friendly, trustworthy, and genuinely love animals, the pricing is absurdly high, and it seems like they are eager to add on non-essentials to your visit. Just be aware of what you are signing up for next time you take your furry beings for a check-up.

I am following up my pricing review for Banfield with a recent experience with the same kitty. my kitty developed pancreatitis after dental care and e came seriously ill. The wonderful Dr at Banfield figured this out quickly and kept him there monitoring him all day after which she made arrangements to transfer him to Blue Pearl emergency Hospital, as Banfield doesn't have overnite monitoring. The folks there were great too, and kept him overnite giving him appropriate meds. I was able to bring him home the next day with fluids and various meds to help him recover...they trusted me to provide great care. It took almost 10 days to get him back to his former self with watching him all day and providing fluids and meds . I also took him back to Banfield as an outpatient just to get anti nausea meds down him as he didn't eat or drink for 8 days. They were wonderful....making time for him each day and doing follow up bloodwork. I was lucky indeed to have such great people taking care of my kitty. My complaint about pricing stands, but has nothing to do with Doctors or Employees. Grateful

Victoria and Dr. Huntington are phenomenal. You can tell they do genuinely care about the animals they see and they do a fantastic job explaining what’s going on and how to take care of it. I have three pets that come here regularly and I’ve never trusted anyone with them as much as I trust these two. They deserve all the praise, and probably a raise or two. Thank you both for being you!

BEST VET VISIT EVER!!! I wish I could give 10 stars. Celeste the Vet Tech was amazing, patient, sweet and explained everything. My Chihuahua is very nervous and defensive but they handled her perfectly. There was a big snafu in the system which she patiently and apologetically took care of.Dr Huntington is the best Veterinarian I’ve ever seen. The explanations she gave were informative with no pressure or judgement on any services.I did have a previous non-helpful visit at another location. Dr Huntington was empathetic and apologetic about that happening.Belle says yip yip yelp lick ❤️ translated to: thank you for keeping me healthy.

Who knew that a drop-off appointment for 3 immunizations could take 3 hours!? Trauma for dog and parent. And when I said something about this the front desk girl acted like she could not have cared less. This was my second bad experience at the Irvington Banfield location. I will not be going back.
