I'm a huge fan of BodyVox. I danced in a past life (late nineties) and am picking it back up again. I have tried their Modern, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz Funk, K-Pop, and several Ballet classes, all over the last year. The front desk staff are extremely helpful - they will work with you if you are having a hard time making ends meet but really want to take a class. Three teachers in particular have really stood out to me - Asteria, Haru, and Alana. (It was hard to just pick three!). These three individuals embody the core mission of BodyVox - to challenge every mover to find their most expressive self, and to motivate that self to shine. If you're visiting Portland, new to the area, or, like me, getting back into a misplaced passion, I can think of no better place to get started than BodyVox!

Our kiddo just performed in the kids’ showcase after a semester of hip hop classes. Asteria is so fun, lovely and supportive. We love the community at BodyVox!

Take class here twice a week and plan to come more once I save up enough. The teachers are phenomenal and I’m always being challenged. 10/10 would recommend.

This is such a beautiful and intimate space to see performances. Everything I've seen here has been a wonderful culmination of exemplary choreography and extremely talented dancers.

Welcoming dance community for all levels and dance styles. As an adult with little dance experience, I'm glad BodyVox has multiple options!

My daughter started ballet through the youth program at BodyVox when she was 5. She's now in her second year and loving her classes with Miss Kennedy.
I am the farthest thing from a dance mom, I grew up a total tomboy but yet my daughter really wants to dance! I highly recommend this place to all, but especially those looking for a friendly, open and welcoming place to receive high quality dance instruction.
Elenaluisa is building a wonderful youth program with many options for kiddos but without any pretention or judgement. There are no requirements for leotards or any of the fussiness that might come with dance instruction, just an engaged community that I'm so happy our family has become a part of!
Oh and the summer camps were a hit too, highly recommend!

I took Beginning Contemporary with Asteria and had so much fun! It was an active class without being too strenuous for my body.
Asteria is such an engaging instructor and I'm surprised by how much we got to do over the course of the class. It was lively with so much play involved!

If you’re looking to take a ballet class, I can’t recommend Heather Jackson’s classes enough. However, if you’re looking to start teaching a class, expect poor communication and no follow through. Taking advantage of someone’s time is not the way to go.

Bodyvox Beautiful Everything was a breathtaking experience! Every element of the production: choreography, staging, musical selections and especially performance was exceptional. Best of all was the partnership with the world-class Imani Winds. The culminating moment was dancers individually leading the Winds performers to center stage near the end of the performance, which filled the stage and audience with a shared sense of joy and beauty.

Loved taking the Heels class (musical theater music themed) in March 2024 at this studio with Victoria Brindis. Such a fun class, plenty of room, good facilities, kind staff, and an amazing dance teacher! Victoria made the class super fun while also giving us a great workout. She’s an exceptional dancer and teacher. Looking forward to taking another one of her classes.I have also now taken a few of Tori’s hip-hop classes- so fun and a fantastic workout! She is so skilled at choreography as well as breaking down complicated movements. She also has a fabulous taste in music and is so kind and positive. Highly recommend taking all of the classes that she teaches :)

Asteria at Bodyvox is *the* most amazing movement coach! Her classes are accessible to all levels and abilities and embraces building community while moving together. Haru is a phenomenal dancer and I was so lucky to have them sub a few classes I was in. All the front of house staff are so kind and always make me feel welcome, plus they’re super great to talk to.As a transgender fat bodied dancer, I do not feel these things in all movement and/or fitness spaces. What Bodyvox has is special, and it’s the people who work there that make it so. Thank you all for cultivating such a positive environment for everyone regardless of identity or ability.
