Possibly my favorite cocktail bar in Portland. Unique drinks and food, and fantastic vibes.

Delicious little place to pop into for a drink! We were grabbing dinner across the street but all the food here looked good as well! The atmosphere will have me coming back for

WHAT A VIBE! Expatriate was highly suggested to us & it didn’t disappoint. We got cocktails - I had a whiskey/ ginger beer concoction - and also grabbed the French fries, butter bread & salad. All were amazing & I can’t wait to go back and get the nachos without meat!Vegetarian options: They could do the Nachos without meat & the salad was AMAZING

Well mixed cocktails, vinyl spinning, unique spot, and bomb nachos. Great place to pull up and chill with a homie!

The BEST cocktail bar in the Vancouver or Portland area. There isn’t a close second. The drinks are creative and phenomenal, atmosphere is intimate but not stuffy at all and the food absolutely out of this world! The manager is constantly spinning different records every night so your evenings soundtrack here is always unique and memorable. If you like to be pleasantly surprised with your cocktail experience, get The Diplomat’s Pouch! ??

Beautiful, unique atmosphere that felt like Portland at its best. The drinks were great and we loved the records playing right in front of us. We had a great time and loved the friendly, attentive service. Stay golden Expatriate!

Dinner at Expatriate was one of my all time favorites on a recent trip to Portland. We made an impromptu visit one evening after it was recommended to us by a friend. We started off dinner with James Beard’s Onion and Butter Sandwich. We couldn’t leave without trying this novelty — They were simple butter sandwiches that were actually curiously delicious. We also had the Hot & Sour Indian Spiced Fries, which were really well seasoned and served with sumac ranch and curry ketchup. My favorite of the evening was the Burmese Coconut Noodles, a coconut curry soup base with fried duck confit, a ramen egg, and tamarind, absolutely delicious. I would come back for this dish again and again, such a unique combination of texture and flavor.

Super cool, mellow, classy cocktail bar. High end, but doesn't take itself seriously. The "I woke up like this" level of cool.

Excellent cocktails and the food is fantastic. The food menu is small but the cocktails are top notch. Would totally make this place a regular for dates.

Friends and I were visiting Portland for a couple days and we're so glad to find this spot. Cocktails were a good balance of freshness with the right amount of liquor. The food was surprisingly elevated. We really enjoyed our crab and corn noodles and shrimp toast. The service was superb. When we arrived there was a bit of a wait so we stood outside for a table to free up. The staff came out a couple times to give us an update, which we really appreciated!!

Randomly ended up here on a Sunday night about an hour before close. Decided to have a spontaneous date night and originally planned on hitting up Gabianno's across the street but after not really seeing anything appealing on their menu. My bf searched the top 50 bars and restaurants and this place just so happened to be on the list. It was close so we decided why not? The drinks were amazing. The food was delicious. The vibes were on point. It's cozy and intimate. And I really enjoyed the shuffle of low key hip hop/r&b that was playing.

Few places are as fun and unapologetically unique as Expatriate. Grab some spectacular burgers and hot & sour fries to accompany the delightful curated mixed cocktails. A gem in the heart of the city.

The lights were low, the bass was VERY loud, the servers were kitchy, the drinks were well made, and the food was delicious. This is a good date spot. It's owned by the same people as Beast. The website is terrible, but the food and drinks were so good that it gets five stars in spite of the flaws. They used to have a gluten-free chicken and waffles that was to die for, but they stopped serving it, and so sadly, I stopped going.
