Closed indefinitely. And didn't update Yelp. Really don't get business people these days.

Good food and great service. There was no wait for seating, our order was taken shortly after being seated, and we didn't have to wait long for our meal. Because it's a small place with narrow space, my husband, who is a tall and broad person, felt somewhat cramped. They are a cash only establishment so make sure you're prepared.

Fat Albert’s is the best. Super yummy food but the service is even better. They always impress me with such warm attentive service. I often take my young kiddos to Breakfast here and they are so accommodating for us, it makes it so fun!

This place is Old Portland ™ -- I've never lived in Sellwood so sadly I missed this gem for the past 20ish years that I have just driven by and seen the cheery sign. Today my partner and I worked up quite an appetite from antiqueing and we decided to try out Fat Albert's. I was immediately charmed by everything about this place -- the colorful decor and mix-n-match furniture is a breath of fresh air compared to the minimalist concrete, glass, white walls and succulents of every other business populating Portland these days. Chill, friendly staff. Cash and check only sign visible right as you walk in, so be prepared or use a nearby ATM. The food is excellent comfort breakfast fare. I had the breakfast sandwich and it was perfect and so filling, but the home fries really stole the show for me -- super soft on the inside, crisp af on the outside. And they had Cholula hot sauce on the table. 1,000,000 stars!

It was a solid, "ok". That's upgraded from a "meh" only because it was barely better than a meh.Cash only, so be prepared. As always, ordered some staples of cafe breakfasts; eggs benedict and oatmeal. It was... Fine.Nothing close to what I read in previous reviews. The benedict was cooked well, potatoes were not quite country. The hollandaise was underwhelming, thin, and was served from a container kept on the counter under a heater. The oatmeal was slightly al dente, which was a disappointment.Overall, it was food. It will produce a p****

This place accepts cash or check only, burnt hashbrowns, no seasoning, shredded cheese in omelet un-melted, ceiling light fixtures are above the ceiling fans which creates strobe light effect in the dining room, trying to turn tables too quickly, gross highly inappropriate conversation between staff on the floor, questionable food safety practices. Never again.

Everyone was really nice and the portions were a good size for a good price! Bathroom is clean but a little dingy.

This cute and cozy cafe has delicious food, you must try their pancakes they were so delicious! The staff talked to us like we were old friends, we felt very "at home" and this was our first time eating here! We will definitely be back!

Haven't been in here in YEARS but was in the neighborhood. Had a great breakfast - a scramble of smoked andouille sausage with perfectly caramelized onions, peppers, mushrooms. Topped with jack cheese. Really good coffee, too!

Bland food. Weird, rushed, anxious service. Cash only with no clear signs. Not particularly sanitary. There's just better options out there, don't bother with this place.

Great atmosphere, service, and food! The home browns (hash browns) tasted so good! Reminded me of my first job 30 years ago. I had to boil the potatoes and then shred them with a cheese grater. Our daughter loved her Mickey Mouse pancake with chocolate chips. We will be back!Benson Tech alum :)

I've always liked this restaurant. It has a strong neighborhood connection and has been going for decades. The food generally is traditional American and served relatively quickly. It can vary from very busy to rather quiet. I don't have strong preferences for organic, vegan, etc. so I can't necessarily recommend this place to people who want/need specific types of food. It is generally a friendly place where I often see strangers conversing between tables.
