As an employee, I don't have the best review for the leadership at Junior Achievement, and the reason I am writing this is to give someone else a glimpse of the work culture here before deciding to move forward with a similar experience. I was hired on as the Sales & Event Coordinator position, with entry level experience, at $50,000 per year - a salary reflecting my level of experience. In my time I handled multiple jobs with little support and no feedback, all with a double standard between leadership and employees. Employees are expected to work unpaid overtime, mentioned sometimes you don't get lunch and sometimes you work until 1am- that should have been mentioned in my interview. Previous to that conversation, I did in fact work late hours every single week because I valued my work that I put into the company. My goal working here was to succeed and improve on both my life and career skills, and my boss made the interview sound like this was the place to receive that expectation. Instead, I found myself miserable with my passion sucked out of me, solely because of the leadership from Junior Achievement. Otherwise, I enjoined the work and the challenge's that came with the job title. Overall, the mission of JA is a strong and important one, and I do hope leadership changes, otherwise they will remain with that high turnover rate, limiting the impact they can make on the future on young minds.

Came to volunteer for a school field trip, this place is tightly wound. Great opportunity for kids to get some real life understanding, although some took it more serious than others. The staff running the place acted almost like micro manager CEOs. The kids seemed like they had fun going around shopping and buying stuff for themselves and their stores.

I remember when I went to biz town in 4th grade a few years ago. I remember hating it more than anything else, and I wasn’t the only one either. The workers and schools would give kids awful jobs that didn’t match their tests and personalities, causing them to sit, bored out of their mind suffering instead of learning and having fun.Not to mention the volunteers and workers would praise different kids and leave the others to fend for themselves. I remember a few kids, including me would get bored and abandoned their job and walk around instead, hiding from the volunteers and workers because it was just simply that painful to sit and do your job. I can tell you I learned nothing that day other then how to hate work. It was a horrible experience and I would never want to go again.

I had my son go here for biz town 1 week summer camp. I was going to pay for an additional week for him to attend just to find out that junior achievement makes kids introduce themselves by name and pronouns ie he him she her non binary what not kids don't need all this confusion. Why are they pushing this on kids.

Their biztown program is an incredible opportunity for kids to learn about how to operate a business and how the economy works. Definitely worth it.

Volunteered while my son attended with his class. It’s a great leaning experience for kids! And fun for me as a volunteer!

Served as adult volunteer coordinator for my grandson's class at BizTown day. The facility was impressively structured and laid out, the staff were highly prepared and pleasant in directing the children through their day, and the activities - while complex - were at an appropriate level of challenge/success for fifth graders. I would happily participate again. Good volunteer parking is provided.

I wouldn’t have had exposure to a place like this if it weren’t for my employer encouraging us to participate as part of the Community Reinvestment Act. That being said, I hope to donate my time for this every year! Working with the kids was amazingly fun and fulfilling! I will encourage others to do this as well.
