I brought in an antique wedding band that was in rough shape...cracks, a break, and a missing diamond. Mark was knowledgeable, easy to work with, and clear in his explanation of what work needed to be done. He was communicative during the entire process and accurate to the price originally quoted for the work. Beyond all of that the work was exquisite...our ring looks better than ever, beautifully restored. 10/10 will recommend and definitely return if I need jewelry work done in the future.

I found Mark via Google after a very botched experience with another “local, family owned jeweler” with many 5 star reviews. I had a “custom” solitaire engagement ring made that seemed straight forward enough, but as time went on, I had it back for repairs 3 times in 12 months. By the third time, the owner incredulously said they’d remake it entirely for me if that was “what I wanted” after pointing out that my misshaped prongs were “not that different”.
After many searches and consultations with a variety of jewelers, including Mark’s expertise, I learned the original crown wasn’t meant for a gemstone, wasn’t the right size for the stone, and they’d sized the band (poorly) without ever telling me or my now husband. I had already decided the poor treatment after pointing out the continuous problems was enough and I am so grateful I found Mark! I had sourced an entirely new stone that turned out to be poorly cut with a chip (something someone untrained like me missed), just adding to the overall missteps along the way. Mark suggested having it recut and his cutter did a beautiful job preserving the shape, luster, and weight as much as possible. Mark found the perfect crown and not only salvaged my poorly sized band, but created something entirely new and absolutely stunning, adding some heirloom diamonds I had from old jewelry. I ended up needing both my engagement ring and wedding band resized, and Mark’s guidance was so helpful in the process in determining what worked best, what would give greater longevity and comfortable wear.
Mark has an incredible eye for detail, is so knowledgeable, and truly such a pleasure to work with. I wish my original experience had been this easy. Mark salvaged not only the entire ring, but helped erase all of the stress and disappointment. I’ve only had it “back” a matter of hours and I cannot truly put into words the immense joy and beauty that comes from the ring. I would HIGHLY recommend you check out his work and create your own incredible piece! He is in my opinion, the best goldsmith and jeweler in the Portland metro area!

Mark did a great job fixing my grandmother's platinum art deco engagement ring! I hadn't been able to wear it for a few years because the shank had worn through. He was able to size it to me and added sizing beads to keep it from moving. I am so happy with the results!

Mark fixed (remade, really) my wedding and engagement rings after I had to have them cut off my finger. They were totally mangled, and he managed to restore them like new. He took such care with them, and was so lovely to work with. I lucked into finding the best Portland jeweler to fix my most prized possession!

Mark doesn't only do gold work, but silver repair as well. He fixed a sterling silver ring and bracelet that have an immense sentimental value to me. His quality of work was exceptional and his prices were fair. I would definitely go to him in the future!

MWM Goldsmithing is fantastic...Mark is the best jeweler in Portland.
In June, we wanted to engrave a wristwatch for our brother...called around to a couple of places in Portland who either did not return our call, had long wait times, or didn't seem very helpful. Thankfully, we found Mark. He was knowledgeable, offered guidance in the design/layout, had a turnaround that worked with our schedule, and the price was reasonable. Additionally, Mark was easy to reach for questions. He responds quickly. The engraving turned out beautifully. During pick up, Mark shared his portfolio of the custom designs he has created. Incredible.
In February, my wedding ring had a break along the back. Of course I returned to Mark to have it fixed. He was able to figure out the cause of the break and offer a couple of options for fixing it permanently. Mark did a beautiful job on the repair and the turnaround time was what he promised.
