This is a great shelter to adopt an animal from and we just adopted a dog from it. Visiting dogs or cats while they are in their kennels is very straight-forward, just walk in during open hours, animals available for adoption also are listed on their website. The shelter is large and had so many dogs available for adoption. If interested in adopting a meet and greet with the animal is arranged with an adoption counsellor present. This is to both make sure adopted pets go to as perfect a situation as possible, and to clearly understand any special need a pet might have. We had some issues getting that visit set up through the website and ended up calling in to arrange for it. Note that in order to arrange the meet and greet they are expecting a level of commitment to making an adoption decision, so when going for in for that one has to be serious about about adopting. The adoption fees are around $450-500, which seems fair given they include spay or neuter. Recommended.

They have very restricted guidelines to help animals in need. They get a lot of funding...look at their new hospital. Lots of foundations send them money because they believe they are supporting the community. But really that is not the case. They really are not interested in helping non-feral cats in being put into a forever home. They don't answer their phone that they insist you must call to come in. Their staff is off putting. They really are not community caring. Community people should reconsider their trust donations. Why would you fund a "shelter " that doesn't take "strey " adult cats? An adult cat is 1 year old. Even if a cat has been living in a loving home but got displaced it's considered strey by OHS standards. The Oregon Humane Society has lost it's way. It's function is to get corporate funding. Even though it doesn't serve the community. Shame on you OHS.

You'd have better luck finding a gold ring on the ground then having anything done with these people. They make it difficult to get an appointment

Everything was good except for the fact they have "all user" bathrooms with multiple stalls. They need to have separated bathrooms. So uncomfortable going pee knowing a man could walk in ! Not cool!

Hello, I live in Beaverton OR and I have a cat that barely had 4 kittens. I would like to sell them or give them to people who will really take care of them. I have 4 cats and I can't have any more. If anyone knows or likes a kitten, it would help me ? or from a place where I can donate them ?⬛

Kind of sickening to see how dirty the cages are and the lack of attention these animals receive from this staff. This facility is terrible. These poor animals.

Very impressed by this shelter. It was clean and seemed cheerful; there were many employees and volunteers who were eager to tell us about the animal's personalities; and there were areas to interact with the pets. They have online applications only, so I recommend visiting to see which pet you'd like then checking the website to inquire about that pet. After you inquire you may receive an email or text asking you to pick a time to come meet the pet and then take him/her home same day.
