A wonderful restaurant that has been around in the Portland area for years, and I believe it may have been the original one of the now very large multi-country chain. Always busy, and usually there is a few minutes of wait time, before you can be seated. I called for a special occasion for my elderly mother's birthday, they arranged the window seat that I requested, and even gave her a special fruit and whipped cream parfait, with a candle. Food was very good as usual, with the exception of the one thing I was craving the most, which was the corned beef hash. The taste was great, but it was as dry as I've ever had in my life, it was like eating fried sawdust. I had to take a sip of water with every bite. Unfortunately, since they had already done me favors, I didn't feel like I could complain and send it back. Otherwise, I definitely would have. Most often, the food is excellent, and that is why I am posting this review. Definitely worth trying out if you have never been there before. Enjoy!Wheelchair accessibility: There are stairs at both entrances, and they are rather steep. Definitely not a wheelchair friendly environment, unfortunately.

My favorite place to eat breakfast in Portland. It's one of the few places in Portland with Las Vegas style customer service. They always treat us well. I get the eggs Benedict with avocado or the cherry crepes. Totally worth the waitVegetarian options: If you can eat eggs there is plenty to eat

"Fresh" and "delicious" are the first words that come to mind. In addition to regular visits, my daughter and I make an annual pilgrimage during peach season to order the peach and blackberry crepes. Although a single order would be plenty to fill our tummies, we wouldn't think of sharing. I don't know where they source their fruit, but it's always the best, and it helps that they focus on in-season fruit when possible. And the fresh whipped cream is to die for--just the right hint of sweetness to complement the crepes. If you fall on the "meat eater" spectrum, don't despair. My husband loves their links, accompanied by nice crisp-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside hashbrowns and cooked to order eggs. The wait can be pretty knarly on the weekends, so be prepared, or stop by during the week and avoid the long delay.

The OG original pancake house is a must try for everyone in the Portland area. They are a great option for a hearty filling breakfast/brunch. We arrived at 11 on a Saturday and had a 30 min wait as it was so busy! Once seated, service was quick and water refills kept going. Food did take a bit of time to come but was absolutely worth it. The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. Their omelettes are packed with flavor and filling while their pancakes are incredible soft and tasty.Overall, highly recommend this place to anyone!Dietary restrictions: Separate grill for eggs and pancakes from meat!

This is a go to for a dear friend and myself when we catch up with each other. Love the food. Coffee and bacon are great. Surprised that even this day and age, they take cash only, no cards. That's the only knock on them, but it doesn't stop people coming in though. It's always packed.

The original pancake house is a happening breakfast place. It's pretty crowded because the food is so good and the service is so fast. The waitress was kind and quick, and the food came out pretty quickly. The portions were huge, but the calorie content is also listed on the menu. This place is very, very clean, which makes me happy when I'm eating somewhere. The kitchen is in plain view as well, so you can see what's happening with your food.I had the corn beef hash with two eggs and 5 potato pancakes. I ate most of the cornbeef hash. It was the best I've ever had. It was in small pieces, like the canned kind, but tasted very fresh. The eggs were cooked to perfection. My only complaint was the potato pancakes. They tasted sour. Turns out they are cooked in butter. I've never had potato pancakes cooked in butter, always oil. They tasted very different, so I was probably just not used to them. Overall, this classic breakfast place is definitely a quality dining experience.

I do not get the hype about this place. First they couldn’t give me egg whites I do not know why… they said “sorry the chef can’t do that.” Like???? It’s just egg whites. My brother ordered a veggie omelet that’s was sooo disgusting he didn’t even eat it. The middle was raw and the veggies were just not good. The pancakes are okay but nothing special. The waitress and hostess were very sweet. Will not be coming back

Some things never disappoint. I hadn't been there for some time. It's still great.Parking: It's a tight space and since the weekends are packed, expect to park on the street.
