Stopped in to buy a pair of 72" boot laces. I was met immediately by a store employee who found out what I wanted and told me exactly where to go. When I got there, ANOTHER employee was already looking for me (hand-held radio FTW!) and pointed out the laces. At the counter, I fumbled around for several minutes trying to find my Membership Card. The cashier employee was totally unflustered and helped me find my info on the computer. Total sale price? $3.95 I felt like I had bought a canoe, a tent, and an entire campsite filled with extras! This level of customer service is WONDERFUL.

Older woman in shoe department was surprisingly rude, detached and unhelpful. It was so ugly-bad my wife and I actually told the manager. You can be having a lousy day, but remember… we are not the cause of your depression. Awful!

Best camping gear and camping equipment store. Portland branch is closing so my family visit this store at this weekend. Actually no one said welcome and greeting to me at all. Store is clean and neat. This brand is extremely high quality and expensive. Sometimes clearance items are amazing deal to me.Public Restrooms are there. my teenager kids and toddler love to shopping this area. parking lots are chaos at weekends

Been a member for 20+ years. Just came in (in person) to pick up some Kahoola MicroSpikes. They had approximately ten sets sitting on the counter in my size (L), but someone had called-in to “reserve” them. I literally needed ONE set, and they would not sell them to me. Pretty disappointed. “First come first serve”? Guess not.

Solid service, very knowledgeable staff, always a lot of fun to visit. Not the cheapest place but if you want quality you're not going to get cheap.

It is a great one-stop shop for every recreational gear/tool you need. I love the experience here since there are so many amazing friendly and knowledgeable staff here. It is a two-level building offering gear, clothes, and shoes. I highly suggest this store to anyone

The new outlet store in Happy Valley is a junk-store. I expected to see scratch-and-dent items and the like. Instead, they were selling tents that were both torn and missing parts, belts that would not buckle, etc., all at prices that are ten times what you would pay at a Goodwill for similarly defective goods. For what that location offers, either pay just a bit more for new stuff or just shop somewhere else.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the REI store in Portland, Oregon, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment I stepped in, the store presented itself as a two-story marvel, truly embodying what REI stands for. The layout was impressive, showcasing a wide array of outdoor gear and apparel thoughtfully arranged. The staff at this location deserve a special mention. They were not just pleasant; they were genuinely enthusiastic about helping. As a first-timer in Oregon, I sought advice on local outdoor activities, and the team went above and beyond. They provided insightful tips and creative ideas, showcasing a deep knowledge of the area’s outdoor scene. Moreover, the beauty of the store extended beyond its physical aspects to the staff themselves, who were friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to assist. The checkout process was smooth, adding to the overall positive experience. If you’re in Portland and looking for top-notch outdoor gear coupled with expert advice, this REI store is the place to go. A haven for outdoor enthusiasts like myself, it truly made my first visit to Oregon special. Hats off to the team there for their outstanding service!

The employees were very helpful and knowledgeable without being stuck up. Friendly without being overbearing, and they were able to help us find exactly what we needed without trying to sell us things we didn’t need. They also have a nice accessible entrance that was easy to navigate with my mobility aide, as well as any uneven ground is marked with high contrast tape, so the store as a whole was accessible.
