While exploring the main drag in St. John's with my daughter who lies nearby, we checked out this store she likes. I wasn't in the market for shoes per se, but she said this shop sells more than just shoes. And it does. A LOT more. So the store name is somewhat of a misnomer. Inside, I was so impressed with the selection of outdoor gear (as well as their boots and shoes and sandals). It reminded me of a smaller, more "niche" REI or MEC: lots of high-end brand-name backpacks and rain jackets and pullovers and puffy blankets ideal for camping, cool socks, some fun camping gear, etc. I think I saw a few hammocks here, too. All sorts of fun outdoorsy apparel and gear (in addition to their footwear). What I also liked here was the staff. I spoke at length with the gals behind the counter. One used to be in a bank that travelled around the States in a van, to go to all their gigs. She was SO cool and so interesting, and also very knowledgeable how all the products in the store work "in real life", as she's used them all. The two women who work here were really amazing, and very friendly and helpful. If you're in the area here, don't let the store name fool you: they have a wide variety of quality products here, and great employees too.

I purchased some Blundstones here a few days ago and they let me return them seamlessly after finding out that they were a bit bigger than I needed. They are so sweet and we come her often for outdoor gear.

What a great selection of supportive hiking boots, shoes, and casual sandals you can walk in, and since they are waterproof, they are great for the rivers and beaches. lots of Keen styles, which I really like because they are stylish and supportive. Prices match the quality and when it comes to shoes, I need the arch support so I don't hesitate to buy good shoes. If I don't pay the price for the shoes, I pay the price with planter fasciitis! In addition to the shoes, they have lots out outdoor clothing and hiking gear. Jackets, water repellent coats, pullover fleece, lots of rain boots, caps, sweaters, pants and even a few summer dresses. They really pack it in there for a small shop. Particularly loved the Rumpl brand puffy outdoor blankets that roll into a tight and lightweight pack. They come in so many fun patterns and prints. The flower power one was my absolute fave! The bright colors and 70s flowers make me smile. While having coffee next door, RoM Shoe's window display captured my attention so went in to explore and discovered a gem! One more reason to drive out to St. John's, such a charming area of Portland. With Cathedral Park and a plethora of shops and restaurants, it's a fun afternoon destination.

My husband and I have found some VERY nice pairs of shoes here. The owners are super friendly and helpful! They offered to order other sizes, etc if we needed. I highly recommend this place and all their lovely shoes.

Rom has been my sole (no pun intended) shoe store since it opened. And I don’t even live in Portland (they ship quickly too). Following them on Instagram keeps me updated on all the frequent and unique new arrivals. I know I’m getting quality-made, comfortable, and fashionable shoes. I don’t normally write reviews, but I am always talking (and getting compliments on) about my great Rom shoes, so might as well put it out here too.

One of the best shoe stores in a town of great shoe stores... the folks there are kind, so so kind... for real be nice or leave, kind I love that so much not a whisper of snotty... and that raises the bar for the rest of them.and the shoes... cute and comfy!men's shoes too.and some kids stuff.

Amazingly well-curated selection of shoes and boots. Brands and styles you won't find in other stores, plus some classic brands like Dansko. Great jewelry -- most locally made. Cool and functional bags. Warm, welcoming, knowledgable staff.
