I recently visited the Safeway store in Portland, and I have to say that it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a supermarket. There were a few issues that left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied.Firstly, the bathroom situation was incredibly inconvenient. It seemed that someone had to open the bathroom door for customers, which resulted in long wait times. This process felt unnecessary and slowed down the flow of customers.Secondly, it took an unusually long time to get assistance from staff members. I encountered a situation where I needed help, but the response time was disappointingly slow. It would have been appreciated if there were more employees readily available to assist customers in a timely manner.Overall, my experience at Safeway left much to be desired. I hope that the store management takes these points into consideration and makes improvements to enhance the shopping experience for customer.

Was there around 6 pm and didn't have to wait in a long checkout line, I was surprised and was very happy with how fast I was able to get the few things I needed and leave in a short amount of time.

I brought my emotional support animal in with me because he’s been stuck in the house all day. And the person working the self check out station gives me a mean look. Like my dog wasn’t welcome. I got a weird vibe off the back. And it wasn’t busy it was 10:15. No one in the store. I was checking out and my dog yelp not super loud. And he confront me about my dog rudely. I don’t think he could ask me if my dog is a service animal. It was A very rude interaction and I will not be supporting Safeways ever again. And that man should be fired.

First, the coffee at Starbucks is trash, espresso isn't dialed in correctly, milk steamed too hot, and workers uninterested in their job and on their phone. Today when I was in I burned my tongue on my coffee. I also was at the self checkout and the man working it was being super rude to my boyfriend and I. I was trying to tell the worker I have my ID for nyquil but my boyfriend lost his, I also was going to purchase alcohol separately from our groceries. With all this in mind the worker kept talking over me, and without even trying to understand what I was saying he immediately called his manager. I told him that I didn't put the alcohol on our big grocery bill it was separate and that I can show him my ID with the nyquil. He interrupted me again and said because my boyfriend and I were together he needed to see both our ID'S. I understand the law, however what I don't understand is the man refusing to shut up and just listen to the customers he's servicing. I put the nyquil and alcohol back, and I will not be coming to this store again.

I tested positive for COVID this morning and had my prescription sent to the pharmacy. I have been calling non stop since 9 am trying to see if it's been filled, and nobody is answering the phones. I am very sick and need this medication to feel better, and shouldn't have to drive down there to speak to somebody in person when I'm supposed to be isolating

Customer service should probably stay in the employee only area in the back and not interact with customers. My mom bought me the wrong item this morning. She took it to return this afternoon when she found out and was told, “this one time I will take it but next time don’t rely on me to fix your mistakes, it wastes our stores money” in a very unfriendly tone. Definitely NOT someone who should work around the customers if she wants to get snotty about doing her damn job. She also got pissed my mom was standing at a register that doesn’t work….as if my mom was supposed to know, there were no signs stating it and this unfriendly lady did not state it before getting upset. My mom finally just kept the wrong item and bought new ones. Had this lady chase her down when she was done paying talking about, “I told you I’d do it this once”. My mom then stated to her that she was done dealing with her because she was very rude. “Miss Cookie”, do better.

I walked in today to fill a door dash order. When I finished shopping I walked over to self checkout and paid for my items. As soon as the machine started printing this employee walks up and grabs the receipt from the machine and opens my bag. I asked her what was the issue and she replied “See this uniform”? I replied yes. She says “it’s my job and I can check whoever I want”. I explained that I haven’t even finish checking out yet. I didn’t even grab my receipt yet. 9-06-23

Javonn W. refused service to me ostensibly because my address on my CA ID was an oregon one (I just renewed) but his look of disgust and the way he stared at my picture made it obvious that he was disgusted by the fact that I am visibly transgender. He banned me from the store for pointing out that he had no business looking at anything beyond my birthday and could’ve scanned my ID (claimed they didn’t scan). I was polite and did not raise my voice. Discriminatory practices.

Nice and helpful staff. However, it's dirty (gross bathroom) and in need of an update. It's a small Safeway store. So, it has a limited variety of items.

The Black male cashier at self check out name starting with a J is extremely rude to his co workers and customers. People are normalizing poor, bad customer service. HR needs to do better. He always hide his employee badge. He always look angry and unhappy like his baby mama left him or something. He doesn't make that place look like a "safe" place to shop.

The pharmacy line is in the SAME line as the family planning aisle. Do you know how awkward this is? And this pharmacy always has a huge line because they are busy and that’s not the problem, there’s got to be way to change the set up. Because it’s so awesome to watch folks commenting and judging me for what tampons I buy.

Stopped here on a bike ride to purchase snacks and drinks. Management/security was pretty upset and hostile to biking customers claiming that we only spent $60 in their store. I’m currently writing this review from the adjacent Walgreens parking lot where we have been moved while we continue to wait (we have been here for about 25 minutes) for more bike riders (200+) on our ride to spend money in their store. Frustrating experience. Apparently you only matter as a customer if you drive there. Bikers beware!
