The staff at Public Storage is truly exceptional—personable, professional, and caring. Their security measures gave me the confidence to store my belongings comfortably. Unlike my previous storage experience, where my all possessions were stolen, Security Public Storage not only provides a secure environment but also offers support in resolving any issues that might arise.

I cannot believe the staff at this Portland location of Security Public Storage - making comments about my physical appearance, punishing single mothers, and refusal to help another human being. Specifically, I want to complain about Gavin. After having been a loyal, paying customer for three years, I recently had a late fee on a new unit I opened up. This happened because the invoice is sent on 10/15, yet you can't actually pay the invoice until the next month starts - aka, 10/29. The bill is due 10/30. So you technically have one exact day to log on and pay. I usually it seems "pay late", as I never hit this window - I usually get an email saying your bill will be charged a late fee, then go pay.So I went online to pay on 10/28 this time, yet it doesn't give you the option as there's no balance due. Imagine my surprise then when I get ZERO phone call, ZERO email, ZERO notice, but surprise! a $15 late fee for my bill being past due. I called the store to say this is some kind of mistake, I didn't receive notice, I have A LOT I am managing, and this needs reversed. According to Gavin, they refused.Gavin commented on my physical appearance when I opened the unit, commenting how "he could tell I had spent time abroad in London, if I knew what he meant, because of my lashes and makeup, I didn't look like a girl from Portland". So that's awkward and uncomfortable.I had lived in London for the last three years as my husband is British. Moved home because I was pregnant. Fast forward to September, we split up, and he returned to London when our baby was only 8 weeks old - so I am now an unemployed, single mother of an 8 week old baby, who has been a customer of this property since 2020, yet they can't reverse a late fee where they didn't properly notify me I'd be getting one. This is horrendous, embarrassing, and will force me to close my unit due to this treatment. Not only do I not want to go into the office to have Gavin make remarks about my physical appearance again, but today he also hung up on me for arguing to remove the late fee - $15 is nothing to a huge corporation like this, but is the difference between half a can of formula so my baby can eat for a week.Absolutely disgusting and appalling. Thanks Gavin! You horrible human being.

I've rented the uhauls there a few times, and I have to say that the customer service is on point. If I did not sleazy have a unit elsewhere, I would be storing my stuff there.

NOTE: THIS IS AN UPDATED, EDITED REVIEW, WHEREBY I DOWNGRADE FROM 5-STARS TO ONEADDITIONAL NOTE: ON YELP, MANAGER POSTED NOTE SAYING IF i CONTACTED THEM, THE ISSUE WOULD BE ADDRESSED BY CUSTOMER SERVICE. I CONTACTED THEM AS REQUESTED, AND THEY HAVE IGNORED MY OUTREACH, EVEN THOUGH I REACHED OUT TO THEM AT THEIR REQUEST.The employees at this facility work hard & seem genuine about their concern to provide caring service to the customer.Until things go wrong. And things went wrong in my case. The contract the customer signs, not surprisingly, also is extremely unfavorable to the consumer, and for all of these reasons, I urge potential customers to either stay away from this service provider, or exercise extreme caution. Here is what happened to me:The employees offered very favorable deals: If the renter makes a long-term commitment, there can be large discounts (2-3 months' discounts in the rent). I took advantage of these offers and rented spaces. After renting and moving into the 2nd space, I moved out of town.I returned 2 months later to move the rest of my stuff into a 3rd space. At that time I returned for an inspection to my second space, which had been locked & sealed for 2 months. As I came down the hall, I found hundreds of moths flying, & crawling in the hall & even on the wall and door outside of my unit (the kind that eat clothing and other organic textile fibers, and cause expensive damage). The greatest concentration of these moths seemed to originate in the door of a unit directly across the hall, where the majority of these insects were crawling.I carefully crushed with my feet and swept away the bugs, and carefully entered my unit, and did not see any moths inside, but knew it was only a matter of time before they entered, since there is no total seal above and to the sides above. I went to a hardware store and bought a large quantity of mothballs and other repellants, and also traps, which is placed in my unit.I immediately went to management to report the matter. They said they would perform an extermination treatment. I gave them a key to do this. Two months later, I returned and found moths in my unit, and in the traps. Management assured me they were aggressively treating. A month later, there were still moths in my unit.Management does not accept any liability. Their contract specifically says the contents in storage cannot exceed $5,000 in value, so if there is loss or damage, the renter has no recourse. Due to the fact my infested possessions have to go overseas, and must be certified free of infestations, I'm going to have to pay at least $20,000 to a professional remediation company and others to remove and treat my stuff, to get it certified. And that doesn't include repairs to rugs and leather goods, which I am told may have suffered damage from the moths themselves.Be very cautious and read the contract before renting here. I was left holding the bag with a huge remediation bill to undo the damage caused by Security Public Storage, and they are sitting pretty, and don't care about the harm they have done to me.My stuff was NOT safe here. Will yours be? And if it isn't, are you prepared to accept your losses?

I went around looking for the best, cheapest, safest and highest quality customer service and I wound up choosing SPS. And I have to say, it's been astounding. Clean, welcoming, safe and secure. Everything I've valued and looked for is here. I couldn't be happier. I would highly highly recommend these people who stand above all the rest. Thank you, outstanding in every way I can imagine!!

[UPDATE: I was encouraged (see below) on 8/19/23 by Business Manager, Mana C., to reach out to management, which I did on the same day. Communication was great from all employees, from numerous telephone calls, emails with access instruction and returning uhaul. Very efficient. Storage area appears to be secure and clean.

Thanks to Max (mostly), Tina, Gavin for setting up UHaul rental on my changing July 4th moving schedule and, despite smashed gate, getting the van out nearly at 9am . Renter-friendly problem solvers, Security Public Storage is the opposite of the stories you read about bad rentals on Google & Yelp. And they have multiple trucks.
