I highly recommend Shawnalee Studios! She did my daughter’s senior pictures and I was so impressed with her work that I joined her “Women over 40” Project and had my own photo shoot. My photos turned out incredible! So much so that I couldn’t narrow them down to a select few- I had to invest in the entire portfolio. The end product you get too, the albums and portfolio boxes, are simply gorgeous!
Even if you think you’re not photogenic and don’t know how to pose for pictures and prefer to be the one behind the camera (not in front of it) just go for it. You won’t regret it. I was super nervous and stiff to begin with but Shawnalee does a fantastic job helping you relax and feel safe so it all feels natural.
It’s so important to document our lives as women and show others (and most importantly ourselves) that we are beautiful and sexy at every stage of our lives.

This was such a powerful experience. I've always shied away from having my photo taken (I'm usually the one behind the camera), and certainly haven't ever invested this kind of time or money in documenting myself. From the very beginning, this felt inspiring and fun, and I feel significantly more confident after going through this process. Thank you so much!!!

Working with Shawnalee was a top notch experience. I thoroughly appreciate her attention to detail through the entire process. My one wish is that I would have taken more time to savor the experience. My advice to anyone involved in the over 40 project is to give the project and yourself extra time to enjoy the experience. You deserve it and the extra time with make the experience sweeter.

My photoshoot experience was more than I expected. I was nervous going into it and expected to feel uncomfortable and not like how they would turn out. Instead, Shawnalee made me feel very comfortable and allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. I was blown away at how good the photos turned out.

I loved everything about my experience with Shawnalee, to start with her flexibility because I had to reschedule a couple of times and she was always gracious about it. I had never done a professional photoshoot before; Shawnalee and her hair and makeup artist made it easy for me to relax. During the whole session, I had the feeling that Shawnalee was really paying attention to me and directing me on poses and attitudes in a subtle, delicate way. I never felt exposed nor ridicule, and I really started to enjoy myself. I also loved the sophistication of the finished products offered by Shawnalee: the leather book with the printed photo, the photo collection box, the metal frames. They are all unique, extremely well crafted and it shows how much thought and care Shawnalee puts into her work.

Beginning with our first phone call, I felt a sweet connection to Shawnalee. On the day of our shoot, Shawnalee seemed giddy with excitement which only elevated my own excitement about the day. I immediately felt at home, appreciated, loved and celebrated in her space from the tea and snacks and the delightful make up artist, to her deep interest in wanting to know my artful, symbolic 'why' behind every clothing item I chose. The photoshoot was a delightful collaboration, a manifestation of the vision board I had sent her. She put so much thoughtful care into the entire experience and I experienced her as genuine, present, authentic and caring. And she was so generous with her time.
Leading up to the shoot, I felt nervous with a voice of fear in my head that kept questioning why I was doing this! I felt selfish for the decision to bring attention to myself in this way. However, I was also open and curious to the experience with Shawnalee with no real expectations for how the images would turn out, only that I knew the collaboration would make magic in itself and Shawnalee's confidence in her work led me to expect that she knew what she was doing.
And omg she knew what she was doing! I was blown away by her work. I had never seen myself reflected so authentically in photographs. I saw my wisdom, femininity, sensuality and power reflected in her art and it was so powerful to have that! I kept oohing and awing over myself and her work through her entire slide-show.
Shawnalee is a magical, incredible human and I want everyone to have this amazing experience.

This was such an incredible experience I highly recommend working with Shawnalee. I felt pampered. I loved how collaborative Shawnalee was. It was a 10. I have participated in her "40 Women Over 40" Project, Vol. 2. The entire process right from start has been well thought-out, organized, personable, enjoyable and memorable in every step. I did a beauty/boudoir shoot and I couldn't be happier with the experience. This was a total experience, starting with meeting to plan out goals for the shoot which helped for attire choices and inspiration for poses etc. The day of the shoot was so comfortable and my hair and makeup were taken care of which was awesome, and turned out beautifully. My final gallery is absolutely beautiful. As a 35 year old mom of toddlers, it is a real treasure to feel beautiful and have something special for myself. I highly recommend- do it for you!

I didn't realize I would feel so empowered after this experience!! If you are actively on a journey of self love, I cannot recommend a session with Shawnalee highly enough. Her work is so stunning and intimate, and she has this special ability to capture everyone's authentic beauty. I was a bit nervous going in, but she put me completely at ease and she was so much fun to work with! Best of all, I have her stunning images to remind me (because we all need reminders sometimes) that I am here, I am unique, I am beautiful, and there is power in just being me. I will treasure them always. It is an investment in myself that I will never regret.
