I went to the register when I arrived, they asked if it was my first time there, which I replied yes. I was told I could wait at the bar, gave me a menu and said someone would help me when it was time to go in. I noticed people coming in and immediately getting help and being seated, they were told about the specials with such enthusiasm. It was a wonderful sight. Although I had told them this was my first time there, I was there alone and treated like I wasn't there. I took the initiative to go and ask if it was time to go into the theater. Three guys were at the register talking and totally ignored my presence. When I finally got their attention they told the young guy in all black to take me in. I can tell they didn't want to be bothered. When I was taken to my seat there were no smiles, he didn't tell me about any specials he walked me in asked me my seat number, pointed to my seat, said someone would be in to take my order and walked away. Then I saw the other workers bringing groups and couples in with smiles and pomp and excitement and explanations of specials again. Not a good impression of service my first time there. The food was delicious. Compliments to the kitchen staff.

Oof. This place has really gone down hill. We used to enjoy a movie and dinner date here what we won’t return. We took our 4 year old to see an afternoon showing of Moana 2 a couple weeks ago, we ordered vegan popcorn and garlic herb French fries. The popcorn tasted completely stale and the fries had several cloves of RAW garlic on top with a few leaves of parsley. After the movie I asked if that was how it was meant to be and their response was “yup”. As I was standing in the lobby the kitchen crew could be heard being extremely vulgar. Overall not worth it. Steer clear.

I recently went to Studio One and unfortunately it was not worth it. While the environment and the aesthetic was what was advertised, their service is terrible. We have arrived 10 minutes before the supposed show time as it’s recommended to come in early but had to wait for the room to be vacant and cleaned (it took them 10-15 minutes AFTER the showtime premiere) and then seated one by one by a “host”. Due to the tardiness of the service, ordering with the server and delivering food had taken place during the movie! Unfortunately me and my partner selected seats on the edge so we had to wait till service was completely over to relax and enjoy the movie as we had to constantly move our feet from the leg rest and move the leg rest out of the way. Me and my partner were the very first to be helped and had simply ordered a bowl of popcorn. Everyone in the room were receiving their multiple plates of COOKED ENTREES and serving other people their popcorn as well, we didn’t receive our popcorn until we ASKED where was it (we tried to be as nice as possible and understanding so we didn’t ask until about an hour into our movie). No apology or explanation was given and if we hadn’t asked I believe the server wouldn’t even have checked in on our order as there was no staff presence after complete delivery of food. The popcorn wasn’t even seasoned well. In summary, there’s a lack of system in regards to the “dining in” experience therefore when they recommend coming in early it doesn’t make sense & their service is terrible and unorganized.

We spent over $300 to come here on new years eve. We arrived early and our waiter came to take our order, not during preview but right when the movie was starting which should have been our first sign. We missed the first 5 mins of our movie because it was so hard to order when it's so dark and loud.
50 mins into our 1.5 hour movie we finally got our drinks and popcorn and 2 of the 4 desserts. That we ordered. I went to lobby to ask why we got dessert before dinner and everyone was confused and not interested in figuring it out but stated our order ticket was lost the kitchen never got our order. Front lobby staff seems to not care, didn't say they would figure it out just said they didn't have my order. I walked around the place until I found the person who took my order. He said he would find out..
Later he comes and says they can enter my order but it will be done when movie is over and we can sit in dining room, or he can refund. I accepted to have to order placed because we were hungry and already there. Right as the move is ending...awful timing... 2 of our 5 dinner plates come. Super weird.
Movie ends and we carry our plates out to dining room. Embarrassing..
Finally our food comes the rest of dessert never did no one offered an apology or a comp or asked if we needed anything
Will not return $350 down the drain for an awful experience

We went to go watch Nosferatu today on new years at 3:30, we were given menus and seated. But no waiter came. Seats are extremely comfortable my husband fell asleep and I loved it because I’m pregnant. When the movie ended I did give the guy who seemed to be in charge wearing a grey button up who seated us that no one arrived. He looked at me and told me "Next time come up and let me know”. Now I’m confused if we were supposed to order first before being seated. I shouldn’t have to get up being pregnant because we were forgotten. Anywho nice comfortable place but if you feel like they’re taking too long to get food orders, go up front they probably forgot.

I want to give this place a lot of advice. I’ve come here maybe 20-30 times over its life time and i will continue to go here as its only blocks from my house. I want this place to survive, I love movies, but they clearly need to work on a lot. The positives: great picture and sound quality, one of the best in Portland. Food can be good, and there’s a good selection of films. I generally find the seating comfortable and generally a clean atmosphere with a good clientele who don’t ruin movies (much better than say, a regal). Now, some suggestions for improvement (there are so many so here goes). Suggestion 1: develop a checkin system like every other theater on the planet. There is no system here whatsoever. I know how this place works and walking in everytime I laugh to myself at everyone’s confusion. Not one time has it been smooth and I don’t get it. For some reason you have to be escorted to your seats by whoever is working the front. Sometimes there’s no one there. It’s absolutely impossible to tell who works here, no name tags no uniforms no nothing. You walk in and no one says a word. The solution is to have people find their own theater and their own seat. Scan the ticket in front, hand a menu and let them know if they need help to ask, boom done. Want to be more high touch? Stagger the movies so each hour movies happen in one of the three hallways, station and employee at said hallway, have them greet and briefly escort. Next suggestion: label the seats properly on the app and in person. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to sit awkwardly with another couple on a 4 person love couch. Let’s not get too cute here just label the seating like a regular place. I should be able to look down and see a6 and there be no argument as to what seat this is. Next suggestion, pair down the menu. We don’t need salmon specials and steak frites in the dark. It’s ridiculous. Stick with the classics and handheld foods, avoid loud silverware. Buregers fries sandwiches hot dogs nachos popcorn etc. there are mostly absurd menu items that make zero sense in that setting. Next suggestion, use QR code and mobile ordering. You clearly have not enough staff for the high touch experience you’re trying to make, so this is an easy one. Focus the staff you have on expediting, turning theaters, being helpful. Next suggestion, remove all fish or fish related items from the menu. Hasn’t been as big of an issue but I’ve been here a few times when someone orders fish and it’s ridiculous. Final suggestion, small table side lamps or dim lighting. No one can see menus, servers use a flashlight and ruin the experience for others delivering food and whatnot. Overall I like this place and it’s got endless potential but needs to implement systems and efficiency needs to be better. Everyone seems confused, food takes forever because it’s so complicated and one off with one person in the kitchen it seems. Too much going on here to succeed at any of it. Simplify, simplify, simplify.

Expensive, over charged $3.50 for a bun I never got, seats uncomfy. And attitude if you don’t order food. Wouldn’t go back. Cool concept, poor execution.

Bought tickets to see Wicked and walked in to a strange smell. Building seems very old inside, some of the furniture is worn and stained, luckily we sat on leather chairs that could be wiped down.
Theatre is small which is great, service is fantastic, just a bit concerned about the food prep when the building is so unattended. I skipped the food and drink part.

My first visit was on Christmas Day to see Wicked with my mom & sister. I ordered the tickets in advance without seeing the space. We were in the front row, which was too close to the screen. The three-seat couch barely fit all of us (only one plus size in the party). We spent ~$50 for an order of fries, a glass of wine, and two lattes. It took forever for the food to come and when it did the fries were cold.
I was disappointed because I really wanted my family to get to enjoy the movie, but all the things mentioned above were detractors 😕

Nice atmosphere, good food and drinks. The waiter might walk in front of you often to take orders and deliver food to other customers for 35 minutes at the beginning of the movie. Which is quite annoying, especially for the price they are asking for the tickets. They should have customers order before the movie starts in the lobby or smth. He walked in front of me over 6 times (so 12+ times he crossed in front of me and my date). So don't sit in the back row.

It's an experience worth trying, but service could use major improvements. We arrived early to get food before our movie. With no direction on how this place operates we were left standing around while the staff walked by completely ignoring us. Finally we were given menus & shown to our theater. A different staff member took the orders of those in the back row then walked right out. Waited another 15 minutes a whole new group of people walk in, finally the staff comes back & starts taking their order while us in the front row had been waiting the entire time & the movie was starting. I got irritated & just walked out to the lobby & placed my order there. I was hoping they could just hand me my order since all I wanted was popcorn, but instead they took my seat number & said they would bring it to me. I didn't get it until 30 minutes into the movie. Surprisingly my situation wasn't the worst, the couple sitting in my row didn't get their meal until 20 minutes before the movie ended.
Facilities - don't sit in the front row. Uncomfortable smelly, couches with questionable cleanliness. Bathroom - only 2 stalls had toilet paper in them & 1 of the toilets couldn't flush.
Normally I'm all for supporting smaller businesses, but for what you pay you could go to the Cinemark down the road for more comfortable chairs & food you can actually enjoy during the movie.

We ordered the 28.00 cheese plate. Came with 4 pieces of hard bread, 10 1in. cheese slices that were hard and dried out. A few olives and nuts. It has a tablespoon of jam, that was tasty. Our friends had the nachos, it had the pour on cheese, nasty.
I would see a movie there again, but no food.

The food was *so bad*. We ordered nachos, which are almost impossible to make unappetizing unless they are cold, which these were. And the chicken tasted rubbery, like it had recently been frozen. The "special" beignets were totally raw dough inside. You could hear the sounds from the next theater in ours. This place felt like it was trying to do so much it didn't do anything well, and at a premium. I am pretty forgiving, generally, but I will not be back.

If you're simply ordering a drink at Studio One it is 5 star. If you're ordering dinner it could go awry. We ordered food at the beginning of the film and never received it until I went out and asked about it. After 5 minutes of missing the movie someone finally helped me. Clearly the studio kitchen and bar is understaffed. The kitchen was in disarray when I went out. The film was almost over when we received our meal and my partner didn't even finish before the credits. Everyone else received and finished their meal before we were served along with the couple next to us. The food looks much better in the photos and is extremely costly. Our experience was sad in comparison to other experiences I've had there. Not to mention we tried to order before the film and we were refused even beverages at the bar they were so backed up.
