I cannot say enough good things about this facility. Dr. Elliot is second to none. His expertise, bedside manner, and compassion made a very difficult situation more comfortable. It is because of this facility, and the entire team, that we got more time with our senior dog. He came to Sunstone very ill, and their expert care has extended his life and helped us process what's next. Every single interaction at this clinic has been amazing. From scheduling, to payment, office visits, and communication. I can't say enough good things about this clinic.

My 9yo Bernese Mountain Dog, who had arthritis and was on Carprofen snd Gabapentin, had been acting like he had a stomach ache. I had taken him to my vet multiple times, who then referred me to this clinic. During initial discussions, this vet listened as I described the frantic panting all day and night, the ferocious gas symptoms, as well as his sudden reluctance to eat. Following the recommended $1K ultrasound, the only thing this vet could talk about was the fact that she couldn’t find his adrenal glands and therefore deduced that all of his symptoms must be due to a lack of cortisol. What an idiot! Shortly there after, my dog collapsed at home, and I rushed him to the Tualatin ER vet where they performed a simple blood test that revealed my dog had been bleeding internally all this time and was now down to 27% red blood cell count! He died later that night. ?? If this so-called expert/internist had so much as done the simple blood test when I first brought my dog in, this problem could’ve been identified sooner and his life could’ve been saved. These people are incompetent! Do not trust your precious pet to their care.

I cannot thank Sunstone Veterinary Clinic enough for the exceptional care they provided to my beloved dog, Cleo. The level of service exceeded what I typically receive at my own doctor's office.Upon referral, I brought Cleo in to see Dr. Elliott and within minutes he identified a growth in the back of her throat. Dr. Elliott engaged in a candid, but necessary, conversation with me about the findings and the required course of action. Remarkably, within the hour, Cleo was on the operating table, undergoing the biopsy procedure in which they were able to remove the entire growth from the back of her throat.I was truly grateful and impressed with the shift, professional and candid care provided. While the news wasn't easy to hear, they promptly addressed the issue, instilling confidence in their expertise and dedication.I owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Elliot and his team. Cleo is on the mend and though there is more ahead, she is progressing wonderfully.Thank you once again for your remarkable care.

The veterinarian we met with seemed pretty inexperienced and began grasping at random scenarios when she was unable to readily identify the cause of my dogs gastro intestinal upset. Additionally, they caused one of his toenails to rip out and charged me $156 to clean it and put a Band-Aid on it in addition to the charges for the procedures that I had agreed to! I do not recommend. Save your money and your time.

I'm very happy with the care my dog has received at Sunstone and from Dr. Elliott. The staff is personable and helpful. Dr. Elliott is extremely thorough. He gave me a lot of information to help me make important decisions about my dog and helped me weigh all my options. I highly recommend Sunstone.

Taking my cat to Sunstone Veterinary Specialists was one of the best things I ever did for her health. Without exception, everyone on the team is polite, professional, friendly, and trustworthy. The company motto is "Work is love made manifest," and it really shows. One of the many things I love about Dr. Debra Klaser, vet tech Jennifer, and veterinary assistant Arlene is their excellent listening skills, clear communication, and detailed note-taking. After every visit, I receive a multi-page clinical summary in my email that outlines everything there is to know about my cat. It is far more detailed than the clinical information I've gotten from any other veterinary office in the Portland area. Not only does it satisfy my curiosity as a layperson, it provides other veterinary offices and hospitals with crucial information they might need in order to coordinate care. When I recently took my cat to a veterinary emergency hospital, I had just enough foresight to print out my cat's latest clinical summary from Sunstone and bring it with me so that the emergency vet on duty could quickly get up to speed on my cat's lengthy and complex medical history. The vet said it was super-helpful of me to bring that paperwork to her, adding, "This is why I love getting information from Sunstone! They provide so much detail."Sunstone's location is very good too. They recently moved to a new, more spacious office building with ample parking. You'll find it just a few blocks south of Halsey. They have also opened an emergency room of their own, which they did not have at their old location, so if you live in or near the Gateway neighborhood, you now have a convenient place to go in the event of an emergency.

Vet care is good, but prices are outrageous. My dog was well cared for, the staff was friendly and the facility was nice. They got her in and out quickly and I'm thankful for the care. I was shocked to see the bill. I regularly buy two of the meds that were prescribed for my dog (for another one of my dogs), so I'm very well aware of the prices. $81 for a medicine that retails for $17 is unacceptable. $30 for 15 pills which typically cost $4.35. We all complain about being overcharged for medications and ask for fair prices. This goes for vets too. They have you at their whim, they are your pharmacy. In retrospect, I would have refused the medications beyond the first day and asked for a prescription to buy them elsewhere. No one wants to leave a medical emergency feeling gauged due to being vulnerable--and this is how I left feeling.

Thank you Sunstone for treating our little guy with an ACL tear with compassion and caring and for doing such a great job on his surgery.Other than some issues with the staff calling in medications on time and having to make some trips back and forth due to that the whole experience with them has been great. The cost was hard to bear and we worried that our dog would be in too much pain and that potentially we wouldn't be helping him by doing the surgery but they were very honest with us about his chances, he's a smaller dog and they tend to heal faster and better. We went for it and I'm eternally grateful we did. We took him on a little trip to the beach the other day. I swear this little guy could go all day! We didn't let him, we're taking it easy with him still but he is more than back to his old self and his post-surgical X-rays look great!Thank you so much from Lucca, his puppy sister Lilly and his grateful puppy parents Chelsea & Alex!

My poor one year old Chihuahua puppy got badly injured at her first visit ever to a dog sitter’s house, and ended up with a massive soft tissue damage. Daisy was able to see Dr. Su in less than a week after her injury and 6 days later, she had a grade 3 MPL surgery at the Sunstone Veterinary Specialists clinic. Dr. Su is an amazing veterinarian. She spent more than 30 minutes explaining Daisy’s pre-op, surgery and post-op treatments. Her staff are amazing as well. They were very caring, attentive and loving towards Daisy and it was obvious that she was in great hands and well cared for. I am thanking my shining star to find Dr. Sue and will recommend her to anyone who needs a fantastic DACVS specialist.

I saw two different vets for two different cats. They extended my cats' terminal lives. One had digestive issues that was fixed by a simple specific prescription kibble. I'm happy that they're having a new location with more space.

Regina Tobin and her staff are amazing. They.go the extra mile to figure out what is wrong with your pet and work with you to come up with a treatment plan or a palliative care plan if appropriate
