Awesome shop. Staff is great. Kevin went above and beyond to help me find a part I needed, then fixed the product for me. Have just about everything you need and good deals. We love it here <3

Going snowboarding for the first time in a long time on Monday and needed some new boots and a helmet. Was searching for a shop and learned that there is a Tactics here in Portland! I had been to the one in Eugene a long time ago so I thought I would pop in and check it out. The service was awesome! They had a great sale going on, so I got my boots and helmet for less than the original cost of the boots! They had a great selection of boots, bindings, boards, and apparel. If you're not in a major hurry to get your stuff, you can have things delivered from the warehouse in Eugene too and it doesn't usually take too long. I'll be back for sure.

I had a problem with a buckle on my binding, it’s been a pain to find the part. The friendly staff helped me find an alternative to the hard to find part. I’m back in business!Thank you! I’ll definitely be returning to support in the future?.

I give Tactics a 3 out of 5 based on my experience. When I came in I was looking to get two pairs of trucks, two sets of bearings and some hardware because I was trying to rebuild the board I had as a kid. I was hoping to get in here and talk to someone willing to help me walk around and check out some stuff and I kind of pictured the experience going a bit different than it did... I thought they would suggest things, make recommendations, but I ended up getting a younger kid that ended up helping me and honestly, he wasn't very helpful! I was originally trying to get Independent trucks for both boards as I was building me a board and building my son a board and was hoping to build them both the same so we could both learn together and be able to understand what the problem is if we experience them because both boards would be the same so I started to ask a few questions because when I used to skate it was 1999 and I had Independent trucks, but since then Independent is now made in China. When I asked the kid if there was any difference he wouldn't or couldn't answer the question, he just said "Independent is and will always be number 1", so I said "yeah, I hear ya dude but my question is, is Independent still a decent truck or should I be looking at a different brand? Because I really want Independent but after reading online they moved to China are they still quality or should I get ACE trucks because everyone online is saying go with ACE these days because Indy switched to China. But if Indy is still solid I'll take two pairs!"So he says "yeah I would go with Independent!, let me go in the back and grab those for you!"...Then he comes back and goes "Today is your lucky day, I only have ONE set of the Independent trucks so you might have to go with one set of Indys and one set of ACE, but on the bright side at least now you can test out both brands if you would like them you will pretty much be able to answer your own question and you can learn first hand the differences..."Because I felt kinda on the spot and awkward since I feel he not only doesn't have what I want, but he was also not answering my questions I was getting stressed out and just wanted to bounce! I made the mistake of thinking it was ok to bring in the two boards I was building up in, just to size the trucks right, but I honestly feel like the second I walked in with a board that wasn't purchased from them they kinda treated me different! The older employees that I wish I could have dealt with were all busy with customers walking around and talking about products and the kid I got stuck with was more so opinionated about his likes and dislikes where as I feel the older employees could care less and would be more knowledgeable about whatever product...The kid wasn't very talkative and when I asked questions he would make me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about, but when it would be something I definitely know, I would see he was lost...All around maybe he was having a bad day or possibly our age difference made us unable to communicate.I feel like everyone else in the shop was catered to, whereas I was made to feel rushed out. The dude was shoving it all in the bag like "have a wonderful day!" I'm like, "woah slow down doggy dog! I still need a skate tool to put all this together!" So he runs and grabs several skate tools and runs back to me like "what kind do you want and do you have a preference of color?" I don't understand why I couldn't walk back there and look for myself I felt super rushed and unwelcome. I was standing there by the sticker display and as he was grabbing the tool I thought "damn, I was wanting to check out stickers as well but not now because dude is rushing me!" When I walked out and left I was feeling like cr#p because I just worked hard for that money and spent close to $200 to be rushed, I didn't get what I wanted, and honestly the whole experience felt like a let down...I walk

Super friendly and helpful staff. I bought a snowboard for my son and was using some older bindings; they threw in the Burton adapter discs at no cost making sure our setup would work, which it did perfectly. Also, they applied a military discount which I didn’t know they had. All around excellent customer service!

My wife brought my kid in there for a repair and they were happy to do it not knowing wether we bought the board and trucks there. They said the shop people were super nice . They bought a helmet too and they helped with that. I had a good experience when I bough my old school ripper board and wheels there as well.

I had a great experience building a board here. I was fairly intimidated to even walk into a shop since it’s been years since I’ve skated, but the staff is super welcoming. Kevin was amazing and spent extra time making sure my board looked stellar. Thanks!

Went in to get my first board ever for my birthday. My partner came with and got one as well. Met Faith and she was just the nicest and most welcoming person. She made me feel better about being an old trans man learning to skate.I haven't gone to the parks just yet. I'm content with doing the splits or falling on the sidewalk right now. But I'll probably head that way because this is the most fun mid life crisis I could have picked.Def go to Tactics for a really fun and welcoming experience to skating. Whether you're young, old, skinny, hefty, male, female, nb, trans, etc. They had all kinds of LGBT and trans skating resources and companies owned by people of all kinds. Just a great experience and everyone is really chill. They made some lifelong customers and really encouraged two brand new skaters.(Pics of our new boards we got from Tactics. Mine is the bright retro one and my partner's is the alien one.)
