I was on a time crunch to get what I needed in short window and the staff were 100% helpful getting me the camera I needed in the time i needed it. They helped me make the right decision with a bit of trial and error and I am so grateful that I was able to buy a camera in person vs online as I was able to have the benefit of discussions and deliberation with a experienced photographers. This was especially helpful as I was in need of a camera upgrade, a serious decision to make the friendly staff helped me through the process to find the right fit for me. In the end, I walked away with the perfect tool for the next phase of photographic adventures. THANK YOU to Sean and Kyle for your guidance!!!

I DON'T GET IT. I dropped off 6 rolls of film yesterday at 3 pm. All 6 were done by 11 the next morning. Thank you for making me love film again<3 No place like shutterbug.

This store was super helpful in purchasing my Zf! I also walked away with another lens I wasn't set on coming in - I'm absolutely in love with it - and a new camera bag! I didn't know about the film simulation and they pointed it out to me/told me about it, as well as other features I wasn't aware of! Will definitely be returning, thank you so much!

Sometimes things *don't* go as hoped, and that's when great service shines. I had a film/camera issue diagnosed (user error ) and left with peace of mind. Exceptionally friendly, patient, and expert help - 5 stars.

I had a lovely experience at The Shutterbug yesterday. Came in to upgrade from my older camera to a Nikon zf and respark my love for photography. Sean listened to all of my questions, gave great advice and we tried quite a few lenses to find the right one for me. Loving the 85mm and looking forward to visiting soon to add that 24mm-120mm f4 to my collection! Thank you Sean for a patient, helpful and absolutely no pressure experience. You made an experience (shopping for expensive equipment) that is usually super stressful and anxiety inducing for me about the photography and helping me make educated decisions for my own journey vs just trying to make a sale or rushing me. Bonus for being a sailor and your suggestions for shooting out in the Salty Seas!

I bought my first Nikon camera years ago and since then I have purchased many other items like lenses, flashes, filters and the like. Most of the time it was at one of The Shutterbug stores - first in Salem, once in Lincoln City (now closed, unfortunately), and most recently in Portland. When I decided to migrate to a mirrorless camera I was kind of nervous because it was a big step for me, and kind of expensive. When I finally decided what to get, Sean at the Portland store was instrumental in helping me make the purchase, but more importantly, he gave me lots of help to get started using it. It all went so well that virtually all of my business is now with The Shutterbug's Portland store. Each time I need some help or advice I stop by the store or call and chat with Sean. The best example I can share was about a year ago when we were driving through Portland, and I stopped by to ask about a compact tripod for travel. I had my eye on the new Peak Design tripod, which they carry and had in stock. Sean showed me an alternative product by ProMaster that I was unfamiliar with. After thinking it over, I decided to go with the ProMaster, even though it would have to be ordered. It turned out to be just exactly what I was looking for and I am very happy with it. I am so glad I stopped by and talked to Sean. I have also worked with Kyle and a few others in the Portland store. I have lots of confidence in their expertise, and I have never felt pressured to buy a more expensive product. They don't do "up-selling", like a lot of other stores. All in all, I'm very happy with the service I get from The Shutterbug. Whether you are a pro or a serious amateur (like me), or even a beginner, The Shutterbug is a great store for photographers.
