DuBois is an artist and a wonderfully nice gentleman. We loved talking to him about the story of how he met his wife.
Imagine a large drop of Oregon rain playing with the light as it falls to the ground, reflecting and refracting exquisite images of the natural world. Imagine that same raindrop suspended in space long enough for you to be able to appreciate the beauty of creation reflected inside. That is what is behind James Stephen Du Bois’ creation of Oregon Du Drops, and his nearly fifty-year quest to see what there is to see in a drop of dew. Using the thin glass of recycled and repurposed light bulbs to contain the moisture, Du Bois introduces rain from his Oregon Rain Cellar (est. 1999) into the bulbs and tops the finished Oregon Du Drops with brass temple bells forged in India.
