I signed up for a membership was charged the highest income level charge without even asking. The person who input my information entered it wrong (last name as first and middle as last) wrong address and wrong email so when I went to use the membership they couldn't find my account and the manager was very rude. I kept getting charged and had to dispute with my cc company. When I was charged again, they still couldn't find my account (rude manager again) and then we found it by trying different combinations of my name. They were not helpful nor apologetic. I finally was able to cancel my membership but only because I persisted.

They are open at limited times and constantly closed on holidays. The weight room is limited with their equipment selection. There are lots of members with poor gym etiquette. We got a membership so my fiancee could lap swim. She has been hit on by another member during lap swim. She doesn't feel comfortable swimming by herself now. She has been approached by teenage members in the parking lot, telling her how "Hot" she is asking for her phone number. Very inappropriate behavior by members. Overall it's the worst gym I've been a member of and we're looking for a new gym.

Nice space. Friendly staff. Conveniently located across the street from the state capital. We've used meeting space here many times to prep for legislative meetings and hearings..

Pros and cons. Cons: They are really lacking in some workout machines. The free weight area is too small. There is redundancy in things like cables, chest press, etc., but woefully lacking in leg machines. They only have 1 assisted Smith machine. It is Never free because people need it for so many moves besides squats. Zero calf machines. No stand up, over the shoulder squat machines. No decline leg press. The layout is terrible. There is room for more equipment if they laid it out right. Jacuzzi is too small. Pros: The roof top track, changing/showering near the pool, locker rooms, filtered water at water fountain.

Went recently to this ymca to go swimming with a day pass as the website for this location stated they offer day passes, got to the front desk and was pushed to get a full membership instead. The front desk girls were kind and offered apologies for the misunderstanding between their website and reality and gave me a flyer for all membership pricing instead.

If you're into weight training, this is not the place. If you're into swimming, this is not the place. If you're into super crowed gyms with terrible set up, this is the place. If you like rarely getting a parking spot, this is the place. Oh and they let kids draw and color on the wall in the child watch; super pleased my 2 year old child learned this skill...Whoever designed this place must not actively work out or know that weight training is the most popular form of working out now. A whole room to cycling was a joke, it's now a teen center. Absolutely no where to stretch unless you're in a hallway or in the way. And who doesn't put locker rooms in the pool area, plus it's FREEZING in the changing area. Just an overall fail planning for function. Also, moving gymnastics to only the Monmouth facility is just disrespectful to every under privileged child in the salem area.

Hey, my son is on the afterschool program I love the service but the front desk I disagree. They need better customer service. I know they are young, but they shouldn’t be acting like this. They always have their back towards customers.

I divide my review into 2 parts - the good and the bad. I list the good things: 1) good service, 2) clean, 3) beautiful design inside, 4) convenient parking on the street, 5) excellent halls for ball games, 6) the presence of an elevator, 7) the presence of a pool table, 8) In the lobby a lot of air and relaxation areas, 9) location in the city center and accessibility by bus. I list the negatives: 1) inconvenient approach to the women's locker room (through the gym), 2) tight passages in the locker room, 3) in individual locker rooms there is no place to put things when changing, 4) the location of the sauna is far from the pool (it is impossible to use the sauna in a swimsuit - you need to change clothes downstairs by the pool, and then go up to the 2nd floor to the women's locker room and change clothes again), 5) in the shower stall, the accessories for soap or washcloths are poorly secured - during one visit, I hit them twice and once this shelf flew out onto the floor. The reason is that the shelf was hung close to the doors - a walk-through place. But...it's nice to see the activity of children and teenagers - their eyes radiate joy.

What a great new community center, this has just about everything now, from a swimming pool, hot tub, weight room, basketball courts, rooftop track, spin class and much more.Everything was clean and the staff was friendly. I enjoyed this place so much I got a membership.I am disappointed that my 12 year old cannot use the weight machines even while I am supervising. I would love to see opportunities for middle school aged kids to learn some proper lifting mechanics.

? Amazing Staff, Amazing Community!I had no idea how my life would change after joining the Salem YMCA.I’ve been coming here since they first opened, yes some time parking is limited and you will have to park at the bus station and walk.My Favorite amenities at the Y are the roof top track, dry and wet sauna's, extensive groups fitness classes and child care services!

Had a Bad experience today with customer service unfortunately front desk has no organization and proper paperwork for visitors to sign waivers or a sign for visitors to check-in and still the guy that was doing the check-in he was very rude asking me too many questions more than normal all I was thinking "what did I do to this guy" glad another lady verified our info the young lady finished his job on the check-in! but the audacity to stock us and check on us a couple of times while in the pool!!! Not normal for front desk to do that! He was also talking about us at the pool with the lifeguards looking at us and kept looking our way like if were doing something wrong ? very unwelcoming feeling unfortunately!!!

Vary poor customer experience and service very limited free weight section was told by staff u can’t lift 225 on the flat bench out on the main floor strong discrimination towards strength training I’ve experienced personally multiple times gave input on betterment of weight areas and to those who come to push them selves and strength training at high intensity If I could give zero stars I would the old ymca was a better set up by far
